Memory

Chapter 7 : Memory

Jan held Kara's hand when he wasn't using that one on the steering wheel to make a turn left or right. They had found a nice radio station that played the songs they liked. They would even share a loved look between lovers when Jan would have to stop before a red traffic light.

"I got a friend in Smallville.. he'll be in for a surprise when he will find out I am back in town." Jan says with a grin. Kara nods and smiles back. "Oh, and who is that person?" She asks, just for conversation. "Clark Kent." Her eyes turn huge. "Was it something I said?" Jan asks while driving again since the light has just turned green. "No... it's just... that last name... it sounds familiar..." Kara/Linda Lee says, while running a hand through her blonde hair. "Well, we're almost there." Jan says and quickly leans in for a kiss on Kara's cheeks... driving past the 'Welcome to Smallville' sign.

Meanwhile, outside of the Kent Barn, Clark decides to try and go to the Fortress of Solitude. He has been back once after his imprisonment... but Jor-El had been unresponsive. Even his Kryptonian father had abandoned him. He had been pleading his father to try and help find Kara, but he just wouldn't say a thing. The young Kryptonian man had even screamed at his dad to help him, yet tears hadn't threatened to spill and wouldn't spill. He wasn't going to show such a human emotional weakness in front of his father's... disembodied voice, even if he wasn't speaking.

He was about to head into the attic to get the book that would transport him to the Fortress via way of the caves, when a car pulled up. He couldn't believe who was inside... an old friend from childhood AND his cousin!

He ran toward the car, not in superspeed. "KARA! Oh my god, I'm so happy to see you!" Clark said and wrapped his arms around his cousin, tears this time spilling down. "Uhm... hi? I'm Linda Lee Danvers... I don't know who this Kara is." Linda said, which made the smile on Clark's face drop and tears stop falling as well.

"Clark... hi. I know it's been awhile, but I decided to visit you with my new.... uhm... girlfriend." Jan said. If Clark had been capable of his jaw dropping to the ground, this would have been the moment. "That's nice and all, but I need Kara to go with me for awhile." Clark said, watching 'Kara' kiss Jan on his lips and helping her get out of his car.

"I seriously hope you will find your 'Kara', Clark." Jan says as he gives his best friend a hug. "You don't understand, Jan, this is Kara. I promise you, I won't be long. Linda here has to see something." Fueled by the speech, Linda's hand goes to Clark. "He's right, Jan, I won't be long. I will see you later." She said, trusting Clark. She knows Clark would never do anything that Jacob has done to her.

Jan watches as they go into the barn, not listening to their talk. "Well, that was...." WHAM! Jan falls to the ground and his body is dragged away by Lex Luthor, who has just knocked him unconscious with the butt of a gun...

"Where are we going, Clark?" Linda asks him. "It'll be beautiful, Linda. I promise. It's my Fortress of Solitude." He says and then takes her hand after taking the octaginal key and superspeeds away, their eyes not registering the fact that Jan is gone... or the pool of blood from Jan's head wound.

Immediately after arriving at the Caves, Clark inserts the octaginal key and places his hand on the console where the Kryptonian Stone is embedded in. There is a flash of light and the next moment they are at the Fortress.

"Well, you weren't joking when you said it would be a beautiful place."

~~So you have managed to find her, Kal-El.~~ The disembodied voice of Jor-El says to his son. "She has amnesia, I need you to give her memory back, Father." Clark says, which scares Linda. "Who's the sane one here, who are you talking to anyway?" She comments.

~~Kara, my niece, it's your Kryptonian Uncle Jor-El.~~ "What's this Kal-EL and Jor-EL?! I'm Linda Lee Danvers and...." The young girl says and then screams as she is lifted up into the air by a gust of wind and engulfed by a bright light, strange music sounded.

When she lands, tears are on her face. "Clark, Jor-El?" She grabs her cousin and cries against him. "I thought I'd never get back home! I've ended up in Detroit after Zor-El and Lara disappeared when you broke the crystal.... oh, the things I have been through, so horrible!! Well, at first there was this woman in Detroit who gave me shelter and a job at her Diner, only to get recommended by her to another coffee shop owner who has a son who fell in love with me... and... well, I did too... then Jan shows up and there's another piece of plates, cups and saucers on the ground... Jacob Finley was so very angry and he... he.... he raped me!" Kara said, crying against her cousin's shoulder, telling everything in a rush. "Jan.... he has this power... he can heal bruises... so he healed my body and took me in after that horrible experience at the diner!"

Had Jor-El a body, he would have cringed at the amount of emotional weakness his niece was showing him, but instead he said nothing. "He has been nothing but kind to me, Clark." Kara said, even when she clearly remembered Jimmy.

Clark unwrapped his arms from Kara and caressed her golden hair. "You're safe now, Kara. Jan has done good in protecting you." He said to his cousin, as she got on her knees, her hands up in the air. "Jor-El, thank you so much for restoring my memory... and... well... do you approve of me and Jan? You are the only member of the parential House of El that is left... I know I could ask Clark, but, he's my cousin... and getting approval from cousins... well, that doesn't count, now does it?" She asks.

A chuckle sounds through the Fortress. "Of course my niece. If he makes you happy, be my guest." Kara felt like hugging her Uncle, but then remembered that he had no body, so she got up and thanked her Uncle again.

"Well... time to get back to the Farm, and Jan, right?" Clark asks, with a grin on his face.

Kara smiles. "Yes, Clark." She takes his hand and are brought back to the Caves where Clark collects the Octaginal Key from its socket at the console and they superspeed back toward the Farm, where the Kryptonians only encounter Jan's car.

Kara notices the blood and screams. "By Rao! Who would do this, Clark? Who would rip this great feeling from my body?! Who would take this away from me?!" Kara asks, once again feeling tears sting her eyes as she is held by Clark.

"He never had enemies back in school. I honestly wouldn't know, Kara. I'm sorry..." Clark says as he holds a crying Kara for the second time in his arms...
