Chapter Six

Clark opened his eyes to see Ben’s still sleeping face in the sunlight. He suddenly realized that his bruised eye and busted lip were completely healed. He reached out to touch Ben’s face and knew that he was not dreaming. His face had healed over night apparently. Had that black kryptonite affected him in some way like it had Lex all those months ago?

He glanced over at his clock next to the bed to see that it was going on eleven and Ben had awoken a couple of times through the night to make sure that Clark was right there with him. Right now his sleep was deep and his breath was steady and even. Clark brushed his hands along his strong jaw line to feel slight stubble and smiled.

Clark stopped moving when Ben stirred in his sleep only to move closer to the warmth of Clark’s body and started to lightly snore. He snorted and closed his eyes. He began to drift off again when his alarm clock went off making them both jump back into the world of the living.

Clark hit the clock and cringed when it flattened against the table. Ben just looked at it and shook his head yawning, “Remind me to wake you up with a ten foot pole.”

Clark grinned and Ben laughed at how messy his hair looked and suddenly realized that last night had really happened. He had been kidnapped, beaten, raped, and now Glory was free to do whatever the fuck she wanted whenever the fuck she pleased.

She was now likely to be immortal and unstoppable as a wave of lava racing down a vast mountain peak. Was he really going to help her in order to protect Clark?

Clark suddenly moved to push some hair out of Ben’s eyes and Ben instinctively flinched from him. Clark had a look of concern on his face and Ben felt ashamed, and then suddenly very angry. If it had not been for Lex Luthor and his bastard father and all that crap he knew nothing about. If it had not been for Clark and his hero complex he would never have been kidnapped and raped at all. If he had only thought with his head and not with his heart he never would have agreed to go on that date with Clark that got him in this mess to begin with. So, all in all, it was his fault and he could not blame anyone but himself for his own stupid mistake.

He had not realized he had been crying and now Clark was tenderly caressing his cheek with a hand that could probably crush his skull to powder. He pulled away from Clark’s touch and whispered, “I should be going.”

Clark nodded and said, “Your face has been healed.”

Be quickly touched his face and gasped in fake shock that Clark fell for, “Really?”

“Yes,” Clark said getting up out of the bed, “I think the black meteor rock that exploded last night in the lab might have done something to you.”

“Black meteor rock,” Ben asked.

“Yes,” Clark said stretching, “Several months ago Lex was hit by a blast and his evil persona broke free and started to run amuck all over Smallville.”

Ben shook his head, “You mean to tell me that this rock has the power to separate a person into two separate beings?”

“Pretty much,” Clark said slipping his feet into his sneakers, “We might want to be on the lookout for an evil you.”

“How do you know I’m not the evil me,” Ben asked him knowing that the only evil in him was a fucking Hell God.

“Because,” Clark said and then frowned, “The evil you would probably tried killing me in my sleep for getting you in that situation last night. Plus the evil you probably killed Chris.”

Ben jumped out of the bed and tackled Clark to the ground. Clark just laid there not moving as Ben loomed over him with anger and sadness washing back and forth across his handsome features. So many thoughts and emotions were running though his mind all at once. There was so much going on in his life right now that he had no control over and he just broke down on top of Clark. He had been fucking beaten and raped and there was nothing he could have done to of prevented it. He had not been strong enough to save himself, just like he had not been strong enough to save himself from Giles.

Clark wrapped his arms around him and whispered as he laid there on top of him, “I’ll never let anyone hurt you again.”

Ben laughed as if on the brink of going mad, “Don’t make promises you can’t keep Clark,” he said trying to stay sane, “You’re not a God.”

Clark squeezed him as tight as he could without hurting him and that had Ben to look at him, “I’m your Hercules.”

Ben laughed, “You’re insane.”

“Maybe,” Clark said, “But at least I’m the fun insane.”

“He raped me Clark,” Ben whispered, “You saw what he was doing, did to me.”

“And he paid for it,” Clark said not feeling any regret for it, “I’m just sorry I didn’t do it myself.”

“No,” Ben snapped out gripping Clark’s wrists tightly knowing he could never grip them tight enough and took his big hands in his own, “I won’t allow my boyfriend’s hands to be stained with blood. I’ve seen too much blood.”

Ben suddenly realized what he had said and quickly tried to say something but Clark kissed him full on the lips as his hands trailed down Ben’s broad back. Ben moaned and Clark rolled them over so that he was on top and Ben wrapped his arms around his neck pulling him closer. It was like he could not get close enough to him. He wanted to be fully bathed and enraptured in that gentle heat that could burn one to ash know as Clark Kent.

Clark pulled back when a knock came at the door and Ben whimpered from the loss of heat as Clark yelled, “Yeah?”

“Chloe and Lana are here to see you Clark,” Jonathan said not opening the door.

Clark looked down at Ben and quickly helped him to his feet, “Be right down.”

“Ok,” Jonathan said and both boys listened as he left.

Clark could not help but look down to see the big bulge in Ben’s tight jeans and Ben shook his head, “I can’t Clark,” he said seeing his as well.

Clark took Ben’s hands in his own and squeezed them gently, “I’m here for you Ben, no matter what.”

“Why,” Ben asked.

Clark cocked his head to the side and that eerily reminded Ben of something Glory would do, “Because I’m your boyfriend.”

Ben narrowed his eyes, “And what if you wasn’t?”

“I’d still be there for you,” Clark said, “Because you were there for me.”

“So it’s a till we’re even sort of thing,” Ben asked.

“No,” Clark said starting to get really confused. Was Ben running hot and cold at the same damn time or something? Clark just looked dead in his eyes and said, “Because I care about you.”

Ben turned his head away whispering, “Do you really?”

Clark didn’t know how to answer that, and Ben had waited all his life after his parents had died to hear someone tell him that and really mean it. Clark pulled him close whispering, “After I see Lana and Chloe I’m going to take you somewhere.”

“You didn’t answer my question Clark,” Ben said starting to regress back into the shell he had spent thirteen years hardening.

“What I have to show you will only he a symbol of how much I care and how much I trust you,” Clark told him smiling warmly which made Ben want to just throw himself in his arms, “You’ll have to decided for yourself after you see who I really am.”

Ben nodded his head and then smiled brightly and kissed him again, “I already have my answer.”

Clark grinned goofily and asked, “Do you like snow?”

Lex was sitting in bed going over some files and forms trying to concentrate on his work and couldn’t. His dad had moved back into the mansion after he was released from Belle Reve on a clean bill of mental health which was such a load of horse shit. He really should have asked for a second opinion, and he could not get his mind off Clark and his special abilities.

So, his friend was different, and he refused to call him a meteor freak. This only proved that he did hit Clark that day on the bridge and would explain how the top of his car was ripped off like it was tinfoil. Clark had saved his life last night and Bens.

He pulled out the file he had on Ben to see that he seemed to have lots of shadows in his past. Nothing was illegal. It was just the strange coincidences he was discovered in, kind of like Clark.

Lex had spent most the early morning destroying everything he ever had on Clark. He was pissed with Clark for keeping such a secret from him and making him sound crazy all these years, but he could not forget all the times Clark had saved him. Clark had always been there for him no matter what was said or did. Clark had saved him from all kinds of evil people and including himself. Clark was a true friend and one that you would never want to lose.

The entire secret room that was rebuilt was now destroyed and empty once more. Lionel just stuck to his room and Lex could not have been happier while all this cleaning was going on. The last thing he needed was for his father to see how his obsession for Clark Kent had grown over the years. He needed to go see Clark so he could mend this rift between them one and for all, and if his father did not turn that blasted opera down he was going to go mad, again!

Chloe and Lana were in the kitchen with Martha as Jonathan went out to work on the tractor for a bit. It turned out that Clark did get up while Ben was sleeping to get his chores done and now there was nothing to do.

Martha fixed Lana some tea and Chloe a black coffee. Clark came down the stairs and she kissed his cheek telling him to tell Ben to make himself at home. She had to get to work at the Talon.

All three watched his mother leave and Clark turned to them, “What’s up?”

“We heard about what happened last night,” Lana said, “Are you ok?”

Clark nodded, “I’m fine.”

“Why didn’t you call us,” Chloe asked.

“Because the phone goes both ways,” Clark said and Lana snorted at the look on Chloe’s face, “I couldn’t because the situation was…complex.”

“How so,” Lana asked when Ben came down the stairs pulling a hoodie on over his sweater. It had to be eighty out.

Chloe narrowed her eyes a bit and quickly smiled cheerfully, “Hi Ben.”

He grinned at her, “Hi, Chloe right?”

“Yup,” she said pulling Lana close, “And this is Lana.”

“Wow,” Ben said and then winked at Clark, “Glad we’re not the only same sex couple in town.”

“Good thing I’m no longer in high school to,” Clark said pouring him and Ben some orange juice, “Or I’d be throwing bitches through walls everyday.”

Ben accepted his orange juice Clark handed him with a smile as Lana asked, “Aren’t you hot Ben?”

Ben shook his head, “Not a bit,” he said taking a drink, “I get cold easily.”

Lana nodded not really sure if she believed him and Chloe was looking right at Clark as if saying, “What happened?”

Clark pulled him close and kissed his cheek and asked the two girls, “How did you find out?”

“Police scanner,” Lana said, “Of course.”

Suddenly a beeping sound went off and Chloe threw herself to the floor with her hands over her head. Everyone in the room just looked at her in amusement when Ben pulled his beeper out of his pocket. Chloe lifted her head up to blush, “Instinct now.”

Lana shook her head and fanned herself, “My babies going crazy on me.”

“Whatever,” Chloe said while Clark helped her to her feet, “It could have been a bomb. It would not be the first time.”

“In Clark’s house,” Ben asked checking the number to see it was the hospital.

Chloe was about to say that the Kent’s farm was like ground zero but Clark smiled, “He knows about my powers.”

Chloe’s train of thought left her and her jaw hit the floor, “Oh,” as Lana asked, “How did he find out?”

“When Clark saved me from my kidnapper last night,” Ben said and turned to Clark, “Can I use your phone?”

Clark nodded and pointed to where it was and Ben went to call the hospital, “And that’s not all,” Clark said sounding a little scared, “Lex does to.”

Chloe and Lana just looked at him, “Are you serious?”

He nodded, “I didn’t have a choice,” he said, “Well I did, I just sort of lost it last night.”

“How,” Lana asked, “Why?”

“Clark,” Ben called, “I have to go in for tonight.”

Clark frowned, “Call me when you’re off,” he said, “I still have that secret to show you.”

Ben smiled, “You don’t have to Clark.”

“I want to,” Clark said warmly, “If I’m ever going to have a lasting relationship I need to be honest.”

Chloe and Lana looked at each other and Ben walked over to hug Clark. There something wrong with Ben and Chloe was going to find out what.

“Do you need a ride,” Chloe asked, “Your car is at the Talon, right?”

“Actually,” a voice said from the kitchen door and everyone looked to see that it was Lex, “I had it brought here.”

Clark smiled, “Thanks Lex.”

“Not a problem Clark,” he said, “It’s a very nice car Ben.”

“You think so,” Ben asked not surprised he had the same taste as Glory, “It’s my sisters.”

“Really,” Lex asked sounding intrigued, “We have similar tastes.”

Ben nodded, “If and when she decided to visit me here I’ll introduce the two of you.”

“That would be nice,” Lex said smiling at him, “Have a safe drive to work.”

“Thanks,” Ben said kissing Clark before walking past Lex only to flinch away from his offered hand to leave. Lex frowned at that, but he had more important things to worry about right now.

Once his car roared to life and was out of sight Chloe turned on both of the men, “What the hell happened last night?”

“Damn,” Lana said sadly, “She got to say it before I could.”

“Next time muffin,” Chloe said as she eyed the two men like a feral cat.

“What do you mean,” Lex asked as Clark looked down at his feet.

“It’s eighty degree outside,” Chloe said, “And he has as hoodie on over a sweater.”

“And your point is,” Lex asked trying to stay calm for Clark’s sake, “He could just be cold.”

“He was layering himself Lex,” Chloe said, “He wasn’t only just kidnapped, was he Clark?”

Clark looked at her with big eyes and Chloe continued not buying the puppy look this time, “He flinched from your touch Lex.”

“Nothing ever gets by you Chloe,” Lex said and then asked, “Does it?”

“I know it’s not really any of my business,” she said and Clark busted in, “And you would be right.”

Chloe just looked at him a little hurt, “I know the signs Clark.”

Suddenly it hit Lana and she asked before she thought, “He was raped?”

Clark paled and let out a gasp and Lex quickly said, “You can’t let him know that you know.”

Chloe walked over and put her arms around Clark and hugged him close, “Now I understand why you lost it.”

“That’s not all,” Clark said, “He was hit by a beam from the black Kryptonite.”

Chloe looked up at him and both Lex and Lana asked, “Kryptonite?”

“The meteor rock,” Clark said keeping the green to him self, “That made Lex sick last year.”

“You mean,” Chloe asked, “That there is an evil Ben running around out there right now?”

“It was probably evil Ben,” Clark said, “That killed his rapist.”

“Evil Ben would have to be really strong Clark,” Lex said, “He pulled that bastards head clean off his neck.”

“I guess it gave evil Ben some kind of super strength or something,” Clark said for Chloe to nod because stranger things have happened that involved Kryptonite.

“We need to find him before he finds Ben,” Lex said, “And Clark, your secrets safe with me.”

Clark smiled and Lex brightened, “Thanks Lex.”

“I really want to talk to you later Clark,” he said, “I need you to help me fill this rift between us so I can run across it and be your friend again.”

Clark just looked at him and Lex went on to say, “I miss you stopping by and playing pool and asking for crazy favors. I miss us just talking.”

Clark got an idea and walked over to Lex and just narrowed his eyes at him. Lex felt his heart sink at the thought of Clark not ever forgiving him and got really scared when Clark gripped his arms and lifted him off his feet only to sit him down next to Chloe. Lex just looked at Clark bewildered which made Clark smile, “Rift filled.”

Chloe and Lana laughed and Lex smiled warmly, “Thanks Clark.”

Clark squeezed his shoulder, “We can still talk later if you want.”

Lex nodded, “I would like that.”

Chloe took Lana by the hand and said, “Well, that’s one less worry off our minds.”

“It might not be,” Lex said looking at Clark, “I’m a Luthor Clark so don’t get mad at me for this.”

“What,” Clark asked starting to get worried because Lex never did anything like this unless he was on the trail of something bad.

“I did a thorough background check on Ben,” he said seeing Clark’s eyes narrow and quickly went on, “He doesn’t have a sister. He’s an only child.”

Clark just stood there and all that he could hear was the glass suddenly shattering in his hand. Chloe was about to say something when Clark was suddenly gone in a swoosh of wind for the door to slam shut behind him.

Lex just looked at the two girls and then at the door and then back at the two girls, “Wow!”

Ben was changing in the men’s room when he heard a knock on the door, “I’ll be out in a minute,” he called.

A few seconds passed and all of a sudden the door to his stall was ripped from the hinges and he spun around to see Glory smiling at him, “Howdy do Benny Boo.”

“What the fuck,” he yelled, “Are you crazy?”

Glory tapped a finger on her bottom lip, “Yes, but that’s beside the point Benjamin,” she mused, “Any news on my key?”

He quickly pulled his shirt down and tied his pants, “No.”

“No,” she asked getting upset, “What do you mean no?”

“Get a dictionary,” he snapped, “Look it up!”

She laughed, “You’re lucky I’m in a good mood or Dawnie and I would play marbles with your balls.”

“That sounds like fun,” another voice said and Ben gasped, “Dawn?”

She stepped around the corner looking more pale and darker than ever, “Hi Ben.”

“Get out of here Dawn,” he yelled only for Glory to reach out and pinch his lips together,” Oh hush you, we’re out for some girl time,” she said looking over at Dawn, “Right Sugar-Cube?”

Dawn smiled and watched Ben trying to get free from her without hurting himself, “You’re hurting him.”

“Am I,” Glory asked, “Do you want me to stop?”

Dawn thought about it for a moment making Glory’s smile broaden and then she nodded her head. Glory suddenly released him and he fell back against the wall gripping it for support, “What have you done to her?”

“Hey,” Dawn suddenly snapped. She was still pissed with him for turning her over to Glory back in Sunnydale and she was not in a forgiving mood, “If you have questions about me, ask me.”

“Ah,” Glory said proudly, “And she’s feisty again.”

She watched Dawn walk up to him and slap him across the face hissing, “That’s for what you did!”

Glory laughed, “Ok, Sweet-Pea,” she said gently pulling Dawn away from him, “Let Sissy talk to Bubby for a minute.”

Dawn spit at him and he turned his head away. This was no longer the sweet little girl he remembered in Sunnydale. She was no a young woman who hardened herself like ice to protect herself against what had happened to her loved ones. He could not blame her but why was she not fighting Glory, or at least being rebellious? She could do anything and get away with it because Glory needed her alive in order to activate this new key.

Dawn turned her back to Ben and told Glory that she would be outside in the little garden area waiting for her. Glory had been giving her more privileges for good behavior. She nodded her head and she left the room leaving Glory to turn back to Ben, “Have you even tried?”

“No,” he said.

“Excuse me,” she asked putting a hand to her temple, “But isn’t this the part where you lie or say something in order to save your skin from my holy wrath?”

“No,” Ben told her flatly, “Because I don’t worship you. Get your little scabs to find it.”

“You do realize Benjamin that I am completely immortal now that I am free from you,” she said smiling ever so pleased, “Did you at least find that part out?”

Should he tell her what Clark had said about the black rock? He didn’t know because if he gave her some information she would expect him to get more. He shook his head, “No.”

She closed her eyes and shook with rage, “Ben,” she warned, “If you do not help me I will hurt Goober.”

“Why do you need me for,” Ben asked, “You’re immortal now. Just zip around and find it yourself.”

“Do you have any idea how long that would take,” she asked and then said, “I’m immortal Ben, but I have no patience. Plus I want you to do this because you’re close to Goober and I can spend time with Dawnie.”

That knocked him for a loop. He cocked an eyebrow and moved to stand up, “Huh?”

“Don’t look at me like that,” she snapped stepping towards him, “I’m growing to like the little energy ball.”

He could not back away anymore because the wall was already pressing into his back painfully. He wished he could just disappear into the wall but knowing his luck Glory would just dig through it until she found him, “Really,” he asked telling himself to stay calm.

“Yes, I mean no,” she said, “I’m not sure. There are these feelings I’m feeling that I shouldn’t be feeling, you know?”

Ben’s head was going in circles. He really did hate listening to her talk, “I guess so.”

He suddenly knew that was the wrong answer because she stomped her heel, “Clever little meat sack,” she snapped, “Trying to get into my head aren’t you Benny?”

“No,” he said looking for a way out, “I just want you to leave me alone.”

“Not happening,” she smiled evilly, “My parents made you as my hell and now I’m going to be your hell.”

“Oh, you are,” Ben said, “Trust me.”

Suddenly he felt like he had just been struck by a bolt out of the blue as the breath left him. She lifted him up off the floor by his neck making his bare feet kick madly trying to make her let him go, “Find me the key Ben,” she said as he gagged for air that was not coming, “Or I’ll just hold on until you cream yourself for the last time.”

He tried kicking her which only made her squeeze harder making him gag in pain, “Do it Ben or I’ll kill your little scarecrow.”

He felt himself start to pass out and she dropped him on his ass. He fell back on his back and coughed as he drew air into his burning lungs. He gazed up to see her standing over him and suddenly she was straddling him and holding his head up painfully by the hair, “Do I make myself clear Benjamin?”

She heard the door open only to think it was Dawn but she saw the look on Ben’s face as he whispered in pain, “Clark.”

She was on her feet in an instant and turned around to look at the pretty farm boy, “Hi Cletis,” she said putting a hand on her hip, “Remember me?”

“I’ve been trying to forget,” Clark said which made her narrow her eyes and he stepped forward, “Leave him alone.”

“I’ll do as I please,” she said matter of fact, “And there is not a fucking thing you can do to stop me.”

She was suddenly in front of him and grabbed him by his hair slamming his face through the sink, shattering it. She lifted his head up and then kneed him in the face kicking him back through a stall breaking a toilet. He fell on his ass as his eyes rolled around in his head from the beating.

Glory was laughing and clapping her hands, “Wow, you’re not even bleeding.”

“I’m not from around here,” he said getting to his feet feeling a little wobbly.”

“Funny,” Glory said looking at herself in the mirror to make sure no hairs were out of place, “Neither am I.”

“What do want,” Clark asked suddenly being at Ben’s side.

“A key,” she said ignoring the fact that he had superpowers like those stupid aliens, “An octagonal key, Goober.”

“Clark,” he said getting tired of the stupid names, “My name is Clark.”

“Whatever,” she said waving it away, “Do you know where I can find it? If you start singing I’ll leave Ben alone.”

“No,” Clark lied, “I don’t.”

For some odd reason she could not tell if he was lying or not and that really pissed her off.

“Stupid fucking aliens,” she snapped, “They knew where it was and now their dead because of you and the rest of your little corn kernels.”

The door to the men’s changing room opened and a security guard walked in to see Glory about to do something bad, “Sorry Miss, but this is a man’s room.”

Glory smiled darkly and before Clark could do anything she snapped his head clean off his neck and tossed it to Clark. Clark looked down at the face twisted in pain and paled, “You know, that’s the second time one of those bitches have interrupted me when I was in the middle of business, so fucking rude.”

Ben moaned and Clark dropped the head for it to roll across the floor which amused Glory greatly. She really loved the phrase heads would roll if someone pissed her off.

“Alright Goober, here’s a little riddle for you,” She said, “Ben was in a warehouse or whatever last night and something happened to make him, different.”

“Don’t tell her,” Ben groaned, “Please.”

Clark held him close, “I won’t.”

Glory rolled her eyes, “Apparently you people are not getting me. If you don’t tell me what I want to fucking know I will just start killing more people as they come through this door. Now tell me what the fuck happened to Ben.”

“I don’t know,” Clark said hoping that he sounded convincing, “I was too busy kicking invisible boy’s ass to notice.”

Glory nodded her head. There was no reason for her to stay here. She had done got her point across. She had other’s who would be easier to scare the information out of. She carefully sat down on a sink and smiled, “I feel generous today. So I’m going to let the two of you live,” she said and then punctuated, “Just remember what I said.”

She was suddenly gone in a blink of an eye and Ben moaned, “Clark?”

“I’m here,” he said, “She’s gone.”

“Thank goodness,” he coughed, “I feel like my neck was about to snap.”

“I’m just happy it wasn’t yours that did,” Clark told him.

Ben looked down to see the body of a headless security guard and paled, “Oh god.”

“It’s ok,” Clark soothed as he carried him to the door and yelled, “Somebody help!”

“And you’re absolutely sure you didn’t see anyone Mr. Kent,” Sheriff Adams asked him for the seventh time.

“Yes Sheriff,” Clark lied because there was no way the police could stop Glory if he couldn’t do it, “I found Ben in the floor and the guard like he was.”

“What made you go in there Mr. Kent,” she asked him.

“I was walking by to find Ben,” he said which was the truth, “When I heard a moan from within.”

“And you saw no one inside,” she asked for the eighth time.

Clark suddenly snapped, “Look, I walked in and found my boyfriend lying in the floor moaning in pain with bruises all over his neck,” he said trying to stay calm, “Not to mention a dead man with his head twisted or ripped clean off, and you think I’m hiding something.”

Sheriff Adams took a deep breath and asked, “He’s your boyfriend?”

Clark narrowed his eyes about to go red, “Yes.”

“Get out of here,” she said looking at him as if this was some kind of joke, “You’re pulling my badge.”

“No,” Clark said getting really agitated, “I’m not pulling your badge.”

“Well I’ll be,” she said smiling for the first time that day, “That’ll be all for now Mr. Kent.”

“Thank you,” he said and got up only for her to put a hand on his shoulder, “You need to be careful Mr. Kent. This could be a hate crime.”

“By a gay hating Meteor freak,’ Clark asked.

“This is Smallville,” she said, “Anything can happen as you well know Mr. Kent.”

He moved to leave through the door, “And Clark,” she called using his name for the first time ever, “Your secrets safe with me.”

Clark just stood there and then smiled at her warmly, “Thanks Sheriff,” he said and walked out closing the door behind him.

Sheriff Adams just sat there in silence for a few moments and then chuckled as she sipped Mrs. Kent’s coffee freshly brewed from the Talon, “I never would have pegged him for gay,” she laughed, “Maybe they should change the sign to Smallville, Home Where Anything Can Happen.”

Clark stepped into Ben’s room to see him sleeping thanks to the medicine they had given him. He had no life threatening injuries so Clark was more than thankful for that. He had called his parents and friends telling them what had happened and they were on their way to the hospital now.

Clark walked over and sat down next to him on the bed and held his hand while he slept. The bruises around his throat probably felt worse than they looked. Poor Lois had been hoarse for days when those aliens got done with her.

There was a soft knock at the door and he looked around to see his parents walk in with flowers. Clark smiled and gently got up and went to hug them. His mother hugged him tight and silently gasped when she saw Ben’s neck.

“The doctors say he’s going to be fine,” Clark said hugging his dad, “Nothing life threatening.”

“What kept her from killing him,” Martha asked.

“I don’t know,” Clark said, “But I’m going to find out.”

Jonathan nodded, “Did she hurt you?”

“No,” Clark said.

“That poor security guard,” Martha said.

“She twirled his neck off,” Clark said, “And tossed it to me like it was a beach ball.”

Martha put a hand over her mouth and Jonathan squeezed his shoulder, “Are you ok?’

“I’m fine,” Clark said looking down at Ben, “If I hadn’t gotten here,” and he broke off.

Martha hugged him close, “The important thing is that you did get here in time sweetheart.”

“She kept asking about my key and what happened to Ben at the plant,” he told them, “Why would she care about black kryptonite?”

“Did you hide the key Clark,” Jonathan asked.

Clark nodded, “It’s safe.”

Martha arranged the flowers on the table when a knock came at the door and Chloe and Lana walked in followed by Lex. Each one had some kind of gift in hand. Clark hugged his friends and Martha arranged the gifts on the table so Ben could see them when he wakes up.

Lex didn’t know how to act around the elder Kent’s right at this moment. He wanted to shout at the top of his lungs, “I knew you bitches were hiding something, ha!”

He stayed calm because Clark needed him to be supportive right now. His boyfriend almost got his neck snapped like a pencil, and good gracious those bruises on his neck looked terrible.

Clark was actually wondering why the bruises on Ben’s face were not healing like his face had. Maybe his powers were only temporary like Lana’s had been when she had those visions of Chloe being kidnapped all those years ago.

Lana asked, “Is he going to be ok?”

“Yeah,” Clark said, “The doctors say he will be fine and back to work in no time. They said they would have been lost without him if he had not been here the day of the meteor shower. He really helped a lot.”

Chloe wanted to ask about his sister being a lie but decided to wait. She didn’t want to upset Clark after what happened earlier. She held Lana’s hand as Ben rasped sleepily, “Clark?”

Clark was at his side in a swoosh and Martha gasped as Jonathan looked right at Lex who said, “I know.”

“You do,” Jonathan asked and looked at Martha, “Get my gun.”

Lex backed away in slight fear of the elder Kent and Chloe stepped in front of him, “He found out at the plant.”

Martha and Jonathan looked at each other as Ben opened his eyes to look at Clark who was holding his hands, “I have so much to tell you Clark.”

Clark smiled and pushed a brown lock of hair out of his eyes, “You can later because you need to rest.”

Ben coughed, “Glory is after a key to get home,” he rasped, “You might not believe me, but she’s a God.”

Everyone in the room went deathly silent from hearing this new revelation and Ben closed his eyes falling into a highly medicated sleep. At any moment now Lex expected his father to come racing into the room shrieking like a bloody banshee, “The Evil One is upon us!”

Lex would then extract what information he could from his beloved father and promptly lock his ass back up in Belle Reve. He looked over to just see Clark looking into space.

Chloe and Lana just stood there in silence looking at Clark to say something to make them feel better. The two elder Kent’s looked to be just as disgruntled but looked as calm as a bubbling brook.

Clark held Ben’s hand and turned to look at Lex, “How does one fight a God?”

Lex closed his eyes. Of course Clark would ask him. He was all the time going on about myths and legends. Well, this was just great. Now he wished he didn’t know his stupid secret. He opened his eyes and looked at Clark just because he had to ask it, “Have you ever watched Hercules?”

Martha held Jonathan’s arm because he looked like he was about to pounce on the younger man at any moment. Chloe had to laugh at that, “Clark makes Hercules look like a pansy.”

Lana nodded, “Even though Clark would look so tight in that outfit, literally.”

Chloe rolled her eyes, “Focus.”

Lex just said, “Hercules had the strength of a god. He stood up for truth and justice and righted the wrongs he felt the gods and goddesses committed against mankind,” and then decided to add, “Plus the television show was much better than the book.”

“Has anyone ever told you how much of a dork you are,” Chloe asked.

“Lets see,” Lex said, “You and Clark.”

“Really,” Lana asked.

“Yeah,” he said, “The only people whose opinions I really cry over are in this room and I’m saying this out loud.”

Clark nodded, “So just keep hitting her until she goes down?”

“Or trap her,” Lex said.

“She got buried in that crater,” Lana said.

“True,” Lex said and then added as a joke, “We could drop a nuke on her.”

“She would probably just get a tan from the blast,” Chloe said, “Plus it would kill all of us.”

“We could work a spell,” Lana said, “To do something to weaken her, or distract her.”

“Right,” Chloe said, “We’ll get started right away.”

“Be careful,” Clark said, “If she knew who I am she probably remembers you and Lex.”

Lana and Chloe nodded and Lex followed them out. Martha and Jonathan were waiting on their son who said, “I want to stay with him for tonight. She might come after him again.”

The two of the nodded and hugged him goodnight and told them to call should anything happen. He told them that he would and saw them safely off.

He walked over and sat down in the chair next to the bed to watch Ben sleep. Ever so often he would moan slightly from being able to feel the pain in his sleep. Clark wished he could just take the pain for him, but he couldn’t.

All he could think about was how he wanted Ben to get better. Why had Ben lied about having a sister? Why would Glory attack Ben in the first place? Then an idea hit him and he didn’t like it.

Ben had been in Sunnydale where Glory use to live. He must have done something to piss her off and he ran here and she followed to exact some kind of revenge. Gods were all about revenge in movies and books.

He looked at Ben who moaned in his sleep and whispered softly, “What kind of life have you known?”

Clark came to the conclusion that he was still going to take Ben to his snowy winter home in the arctic. There had to be some way to fight Glory and defeat her.
