The Seer was beside herself with wrath. All her plans destroyed because that charmed bitch went and got herself killed along with the spawn of the Source. Her plan’s for taking the child into her own womb and becoming the new Source was ruined.
Now she must subject herself to some alien his father made demon that is more powerful now that the Source ever was. If only she knew the secret to his destruction, and then take his power as her own.

Five Years Ago
Chloe was really sad as she watched Phoenix hammer the sold sign on the farm drive. He had tears in his eyes and a few would fall each time he brought the hammer down. He stood there looking at the farm he had grown up on all his life. He knew he couldn’t stay here. There were too many memories, too many ghosts.
He would wake up each morning confused as to why his dad was not yelling at the top of his lungs for him to get up. That was when he realized he had to sell the farm. He had to move on or he would drown in the loss.
He felt a hand on his shoulder and looked to see Chloe smiling sadly at him, “Are you sure this is what you want to do Phe?”
He looked down at the sign and took a deep breath, “I can’t stay here Chloe. It’s too sad and lonely. I can’t do it by myself.”
Chloe nodded, “You’re not alone Phe.”
He shook his head, “You know what I mean Chloe.”
Both he and Chloe jumped when Phyre slammed the back of the moving truck shut. Phoenix smiled at him, “I’m going to take one more walk around.”
Phyre nodded his head and Phoenix walked back towards the house. Snow started to softly fall again as he walked across the porch and went inside. He stood in the empty kitchen and closed his eyes. He could still smell the cooking of bacon and eggs, and hear the sound of his father laughing.
Tears fell again and he opened them and walked into the living room. He could see the memory of his father standing in front of the fireplace with a warm fire burning as he talked to the picture of his mother that once hung there. The pictures were now safely stored out in the truck.
In a swirl of blue lights he stood in his parent’s empty bedroom. He could see his mother holding him and singing his nightmares away with her beautiful voice. So many beautiful memories lived in this house and not a single one of them was bad. All Phoenix ever felt in this house was love and acceptance.
He smiled softly and teleported to the barn and stood in his loft. His father called it his crystal palace which had made Phoenix laugh out loud. He remembered how Chloe and Pete always wanted to play hide and seek in here and poor Lana would have to chase them down when she babysat.
Phoenix walked over to the windows and looked out at the snow covered farm. This truly was his crystal palace. White and blinding, filled with beauty. But, like all crystal palaces, reality hits and they come crashing down.
He wiped his nose and made his way down the steps. So many happy memories took place in this barn. He never would forget that night a few years ago when his dad found him and Clark rolling around in the hay. He was red for the rest of the night as he and Clark got the talk.
He turned around to look over his crystal palace one last time. Phoenix smiled and turned back around and walked out the door gently shutting it behind him. He saw Chloe and Lois standing at the big truck with Clark. The girls waved as he made his way through the snow over to them.
Lois took him in a big hug, “I am going to miss you Red.”
Phoenix laughed, “What are you talking about,” he asked hugging back, “I’ll see you and Chloe at the Daily Planet all the time.”
Phyre laughed, “I’ll more than likely get a job as the paper boy or something.”
Chloe punched him the arm, “You’re a great writer Clark,” she said with a wink, “Almost my equal.”
Phyre snorted, “Thanks Chloe, I’ll keep that in mind.”
Lois released Phoenix and Chloe pounced on him, “I love you Phe.”
Phoenix squeezed her tightly, “I love you to Chloe.”
Chloe pecked him on the cheek and let him go. He smiled and he got into the truck to follow behind Phyre who was driving the huge moving truck. He looked out his rearview mirror to see Chloe and Lois waving with Lois shouting, “See you around Red!” He honked the horn a few times and turned on the music to calm the mental storm that was raging inside of him to see a red SUV drive by in a blur and then did a complete U-turn in the road.
Phoenix flashed Phyre with his lights and pulled over. He got out of the truck to see Lana jump out of her vehicle and began to run up to him. She threw her arms around him, “I was so afraid I was going to miss you.”
She hugged him close and then pulled back, “Here’s my number and address if you should need me for anything Phe.”
He smiled brightly and took the slip of paper from her, “Thanks Lana.”
She smiled softly and waved to Clark who came walking over to them in crunches of gravel and snow. Phoenix looked at him who said, “Lana, you’d be late for your own funeral.”
She laughed, “And then I’d jump out from behind a tree and yell surprise!”
All three of them laughed and Lana said, “Don’t be a stranger Phe.”
“You to Lana,” he said.
She smiled and walked over to Clark who was looking a little pale, “You ok Clark?”
He nodded his head, “Yeah, I’m fine.”
She gave him a hug and felt him tremble a little, “Are you sure?”
He smiled and pulled away, “See you Lana.”
She nodded and walked back to Phoenix. He let out a breath, “Stupid necklace.”
“What was that Clark,” she asked.
“I’m going to miss this place,” he told her smoothly.
She hugged Phoenix again and watched as the two of them drove out of sight. She fingered her necklace not seeing the glow slowly fade.
*************************************************************
One Year Later
The crowd went wild when Phoenix finished his song and thanked his audience. He turned around and smiled at the members of his band as they put their equipment away. Wild dance techno started to blast through Club Mystika, and the dancers moved like one big pulse.
He thanked his band members again and went to his dressing room. He closed the door behind him to block out the loud sound of music. He walked over and sat down on the couch and stretched. He was so wired and distracted that he did not hear the person walk up behind him, “You were wonderful.”
Phoenix yelped and spun around to see Phyre smiling at him, “Gotcha!”
“Clark, you scared me,” Phoenix gasped out as he walked over to the mini fridge, “I’m exhausted.”
“Happy Halloween to you to,” Phyre said and took the juice from Phoenix who made a face when he took a sip, “Not any good?”
Phoenix nodded with a disgusted grin, “Not really.”
Phyre took a sip, “Tastes fine to me,” he said, “I love the vampire look by the way.”
Phoenix smiled with a hint of fang, “Thanks,” he said, “My friend whose dad is a dentist made them for me.”
“I’m surprised you could sing in them,” Phyre told him.
Phoenix walked over to him, “There very comfortable, Clark.”
Phyre smiled, “I bet they are.”
Phoenix put a pale hand on Phyre’s chest and closed his eyes listening to his heart beat, “What are you doing Phe?”
He opened his eyes and Phyre found that he was having a very hard time trying to look away from those hypnotic emerald orbs, “Kiss me.”
Phyre smiled, “Is that a demand?”
Phoenix’s grin got bigger and he slammed Phyre down on the couch, “Has anyone ever told you how you talk too much Clark?”
Phyre was taken aback. Not by the question because he got that all the time, but by the sudden strength Phoenix possessed. Yeah sure his baby was strong but not strong enough to throw him down with a mere flick of the wrist, “No, you’re the first,” he lied seeing that luminous skin covered by skin tight leather.
Phoenix ran his pale hand through his garnet locks and Phyre could not take his eyes off him. The dark eyeliner, the way the leather hugged his lean muscular body as he straddled Phyre’s lap, “Kiss me Clark, I command it.”
Phyre shook his head as if throwing off a spell. Those red lips that he knew would feel softer than rose petals under his were only millimeters away and yet he gripped Phoenix’s arm, and held him back, “No.”
“What,” Phoenix asked more surprised and agitated than hurt.
“Something is wrong with you,” Phyre said looking him over, “Ever since you joined that club at school two days ago.”
Phoenix cocked his head to the side, “It’s just me Clark.”
“Open your mouth,” Phyre demanded.
“Excuse me,” Phoenix asked pulling away from him to stand up.
“I said,” Phyre repeated standing as well, “Open your mouth.”
Phoenix rolled his eyes and then opened his mouth for him to look inside, “Where did your fangs go?”
Phoenix laughed which threw Phyre off, “Wow, I really had you going.”
Phyre pulled back, “What?”
“You actually thought I was a vampire,” he snorted and waved a hand, “Oh, this is too funny.”
Phyre smiled shyly, “I guess you did.”
Phoenix smiled softly and pushed him into a kiss and whispered softly next to his ear, “You know what, Clark?”
“What,” Phyre asked back.
Phoenix licked his ear lobe which sent shivers racing down Phyre’s spine as warm breath tickled his ear, “You thought correct.”
Realization hit him literally when he was punched in the face and back kicked into a wall. He fell back on his ass to see Phoenix standing over him, “What’s wrong Clark,” he asked smiling darkly, “Fangs captured your tongue?”
Phyre knew he looked bewildered and that seemed to make the blood sucking red head in front of him laugh harder, “You’re not yourself Phe.”
Phoenix crouched down seductively before him, “Oh, I’ve never felt better Clark.”
Phyre lunged and Phoenix jumped up to lay on the ceiling looking at Clark darkly, “Oh Clark, I know your abilities.”
Phyre looked up at him, “Don’t make me come up there Phe.”
Phoenix laughed hysterically which Made Phyre’s hair on the back of his neck stand up. He had no idea that a laugh so evil could ever come out of that gorgeous throat. He was really going to enjoy killing the bitch that did this to his Phe.
Phoenix smiled, “See you at the party.”
Phyre jumped up to grab him but all he caught was mist.
***************************************************
Chloe could not believe she had come to this stupid party but that bitch at the Planet told her to write her a story if she so much as wanted a chance to be at the Planet in the future. So, being a good writer she was going to give her one. She had turned down a lot of dancers and went to get some punch. This fraternity party was everything she thought it would be. It had people dancing half naked, drunk and high on drugs, and a kitty that looked an awful lot like Phoenix dancing with some frat.
Chloe’s mouth was open wide in shock when she felt a hand tap her on the back. She turned around and gasped, “Clark!”
“Hey Chloe,” he said, “Have you seen Phoenix?”
“No,” she said, “He might be upstairs though.”
“He’s not himself Chloe,” he said as they both watched Satan and an angel run by, “If you find him, be careful.”
She watched him run off towards the stairs and pushed her way through the dancers over to Phoenix who was just about to bite into the studs neck when he felt a hand grab him yelling, “Phoenix!”
His mouth snapped shut with green eyes wide as he was pulled back. The guy yelled, “Hey!”
Chloe snapped, “Go shoot your little gun somewhere else, me and the kitty cat need to have a talk.”
She pulled Phoenix after her as she pulled him up the stairs to a corner. The entire time Phoenix could not take his eyes off the pulse in her neck, “What is wrong with you,” she hissed, “Did you and Clark have a fight?”
Phoenix was having a hard time concentrating on what she was saying. The music was too loud and all the smells were driving him into a frenzy, “You could say that.”
“What were you doing with that guy,” she snapped, “What would Clark think? He loves you.”
Phoenix blinked a few times and turned away fighting the urge that was screaming for him to drink. Images flashed through his mind of what happened at the club, “Clark?”
Chloe put a hand on his shoulder, “Yes, Clark. The one you’ve been dating for almost five years now.”
Phoenix took a few steps away from her with his back to her. The voice screaming to drink her dry, “Shut up,” he yelled grabbing his head.
“Phoenix,” she asked, “What’s wrong? Are you high?”
Phoenix stood stark still, “You sure do know how to spoil a guys fun don’t you Chloe?”
“Phoenix, look at you,” she said, although actually admiring his leather outfit with the leather cat ears, “This isn’t you.”
Phoenix spun around so fast her eyes widened at just how beautiful he was and how scared shitless she should be right now, “I’m sorry Chloe,’ he said a little sadly, “But you shouldn’t have come here.”
She watched how he gracefully stalked over to her smiling and then hissed with fangs. She quickly pulled the cross out of her catholic school girl uniform and put it to his face. He threw his head back and laughed as his voice deepened, “Oh sweetie, this isn’t one of your fanfictions.”
He pushed her head to the side causing her to cry out as the fangs never came. She opened her eyes to see Phyre with his arms around Phoenix’s waist with him kicking and yelling, “Let me go!”
“Run Chloe,” he yelled over the music and Phoenix’s snarls.
“I’m not going anywhere,” she yelled back, “Not until someone tells me what the hell is going on!”
Phoenix only gazed at her evilly which made her blood run cold, “Let me go Clark so I can show little miss reporter here what’s going on.”
Phyre only squeezed him tighter being careful with his strength when all three heard a shocked voice ask, “What’s going on here?”
Chloe and Phyre turned to see Lana and Lois standing at the stairs. Phoenix used this opportunity to smack Clark in the face with the back of his head causing him to stumble and loose his grip around him. Phoenix broke free and flipped over to hang upside down on the wall hissing at all four of them.
Lana and Lois gasped, “What, the, hell?”
Phoenix hissed, “Now, I’m really hungry.”
Phyre stood in front of them and then suddenly started to feel sick. The pain flooded his nerves and made him fall to his knees. Phoenix moved his head to the side to see that her necklace was glowing a sick green color, “Interesting,” he mused.
Chloe moved slowly over to Phyre, “Are you ok?”
“I don’t feel so well,” he said gritting his teeth.
Lois saw Phoenix with his head cocked to the side as if something interesting had caught his attention. She slowly picked up a piece of broken wood and threw it at him only for a pale hand to bitch slap it to the side with a snap. His eyes fell on her and she froze, “What a pretty neck you have motor mouth.”
Lois was scared as hell and yet she found the courage to smirk at the gibe, “All the more better to tempt you with Red.”
Chloe smacked her arm, “What the hell are you doing,” she shrieked, “Don’t tempt the blood sucking pussy!”
Phoenix’s eyes blazed at being called such a name and Phyre yelled, “Lana, get Lois and Chloe out of here!”
There was a sound and all three turned to see that Phoenix was gone. Phyre cried out before losing consciousness, “Phoenix!”
Everything went black.
*********************************************************
Phoenix stood in front of the fireplace with three other vampires giggling from behind him. Another one came in, “A fine mess you made beautiful.”
“I’m sorry Robert,” Phoenix said, “I was thirsty.”
Robert contained his wrath, “It’s ok, just clean it up.”
“What,” Phoenix asked.
“It’s your mess,” he said putting a finger to his chin, “Clean it up.”
He smiled coldly at the other vampires and then changed his mind, “Better yet, bring this Clark to us,” he said, “Bring him back alive enough so the rest of us can get a taste,”
Phoenix gasped, “But I love him.”
Robert was suddenly in front of him holding his chin sternly, “Bring him here, or tonight, we feed off you.”
********************************************************
Phyre wanted to tear Lana to shreds because of her stupid necklace. Because of her Phoenix had gotten away before he could give him the potion to cure his vampirism.
He had made sure that the girls were out of harms way because he knew that Phoenix would never forgive himself if he hurt them in anyway. Something hard smacked him in the back of the head and he heard it hit the grass with a thud.
He looked down to see a brick with a note tied to it. He looked up to that no one was around except for a bunch of mist. He quickly took the letter off and read, “The farm, P.”
*******************************************************
Phyre opened the door to the empty kitchen. There was dust and cobwebs everywhere and yet he totally expected to see Mr. Kent look up from the table and offer to fix breakfast. He smiled at the memory as he heard footsteps in the living room where the light was coming from.
He slowly and quietly walked around the corner to see Phoenix standing with his back to him in front of the soft light from the fireplace. The flames made shadows dance all around the room, “Why, why did I sell this place Clark?”
The hurt in that voice killed him, “The memories Phe.”
Phoenix turned around and looked at him with unshed tears, “They were happy memories Clark. Why did I sell them?”
Phyre stepped into the room, “I don’t know the answer Phe.”
He watched Phoenix close his eyes and smile sadly, “I can still smell the coffee from the kitchen Clark. I can hear my dad yelling for me to get my lazy butt up and get ready for school,” he aid with tears glittering in his eyes, “When I first walked in I saw him smiling from the table that’s no longer there.”
Phyre knew that this was some kind of trick. Vampires always played on this sort of thing. Yet, this seemed different. It was as if this really was Phoenix standing there in the firelight talking to him.
“I remember that night when daddy was in bed,” he smiled, “I sneaked down here to see you. We sat right here where I’m standing where the rug use to be. You held my hand while we watched the flames dance over the logs.”
Phyre wanted to bite the bottom of his lip but kept from doing it. Phoenix smiled sadly, “Clark?”
He looked up at him, “Yes, Phe.”
“I know there is not a rug here,” he said, “But, would you come sit down beside me and look at the fire with me like we did all those years ago?”
Phyre wanted to say no and stab him with the potion needle right then and there, but he could not say no to that voice filled with so much pain. He walked over and Phoenix smiled warmly and turned around. Phyre watched him sit down and he did the same.
Phyre looked at the flames. He could hear the stories each lick of flame told him. He looked over to see the fire light dance across Phoenix’s beautiful face. Phoenix was beautiful human, he was ethereal now. His skin was as if a flawless pearl and his hair is like the flames consuming the logs. Those eyes were brighter than any emerald set in the sunlight.
Phoenix looked over at him and smiled shyly, “Hold my hand, Clark?”
Phyre watched tears spill from his eyes that were tinted red with blood. He smiled warmly and took Phoenix’s soft pale hand in his.
Phoenix smiled, “Thank you, Clark.”
Phyre suddenly felt sick as pain flooded his body. He cried out and doubled over as Phoenix laid a meteor rock next to him. Phyre looked at him unbelievingly, “Phe?”
Phoenix looked pained, “I’m sorry it has to be this way Clark.”
Phyre cried, “Phoenix, don’t, please!”
Phoenix covered his eyes with his hair, “I love you, Clark.”
His fangs slid down and he bit into Phyre’s neck. Blood filled his mouth and Phyre cried out in agony as if his blood had been set on fire.
Phoenix drank and then opened his eyes that seemed to glow red. He lifted his head away and hissed as his eyes burned. He looked in front of him and fire shot from his eyes blasting the brick fireplace in front of them to rubble.
Phoenix looked at what he did and then looked down darkly at Phyre, “You’ve been keeping secrets from me!”
Phyre felt a hand caress through his hair and a soft whisper, “Why did you lie to me?”
Phyre paled even more than he already was, “What are you talking about?”
Phoenix caressed his cheek as a tear fell from his eye, “I know who you are.”
“You do,” Phyre asked over the pain from the stupid rock from his stupid planet.
“Stop playing games with me Kal,” Phoenix yelled and then calmed himself instantly.
“Phoenix,” Phyre begged, “Please, I can help you.”
“I can’ talk to you right now Kal,” Phoenix said and put the rock against Phyre’s exposed skin. He tried to ignore his screams of pain and then he passed out, thankfully.
Phoenix picked up his unconscious boyfriend and smiled darkly as he walked from his childhood home. He squeezed Kal lightly and whispered against his neck, “Mine.”
************************************************
Phyre became conscious as he felt Phoenix lay him down in front of a different fireplace. He was on something fuzzy and soft, and the fires warmth was already healing him like the sun did.
Phoenix smiled, “Its ok Kal.”
He looked down at him with sympathy as Robert and the other vamps walked into the room, “Well done little bat. Now, move aside, I’m hungry.”
Phoenix got to his feet, “Wait.”
“What,” Robert asked.
“Can’t we do something else,” Phoenix asked him.
“Well, we could string him up by his toes and bleed him dry that way,” Robert snorted as the other vamps laughed.
Phoenix rolled his eyes at Robert’s sense of humor, “No, I mean, can’t we make him one of us?”
Robert actually looked to Phoenix like he was considering it and then laughed, “No, I’m hungry.”
He then moved to push Phoenix aside, “Out of the way little bat.”
Phoenix hissed and grabbed his arm, “No!”
“Excuse me,” Robert asked pulling out of his grasp.
“He’s mine,” Phoenix hissed, “You’re not touching him.”
Robert cocked his head to the side and then bitch slapped Phoenix across the room to land on the hard floor. Phoenix rolled over onto his knees as Robert walked over and crouched down ready to pounce. His eyes became solid black as his fangs curled down to his chin, “You disappoint me Phoenix.”
Phoenix sneered beautifully, “Bring it on overbite!”
Robert pounced only to be smacked in the jaw causing it to shatter. He howled and fell to the floor crying out in pain. He got to his feet and Phoenix fame at him faster than sound and slammed him into the wall, “You’re not so tough.”
Robert howled with rage and kicked Phe across the room and leaped at him. Phoenix rolled over and looked up to see Robert coming right at him. He eyes glowed red and fire enveloped Robert. He cried out and was gone in a flash of smoke.
The other vamps just stood there looking shaken. Phoenix got to his feet and walked towards them, “Looks like I’ll be giving the orders from now,” he hissed,” Any of you bitches got a problem with that?”
Each vamp shook there heads saying no problem as Phoenix shouted, “Get out!”
Each took off running out of the room screaming as they ran around the corner to get as far away from him as possible.
Phyre looked over at him from his weakened position, “Phe?”
“It’s ok Kal,” he crooned, “I’m here now. Nobody shall ever touch you but me.”
“Phoenix, don’t do this, please,” Phyre said as he slowly reached in his pocket for the needle.
“Kal, it’s ok,” Phoenix cooed tenderly as he caressed his cheek.
“This isn’t you Phe,” Phyre whispered weakly, “Please, let me help you.”
“Maybe this is me Kal,” He said, “We can be together forever now Kal. All you need is one drop of my blood.”
Phyre watched as Phoenix took his index finger and cut his tongue making it bleed, “Kiss me Kal.”
Phye began to struggle but Phoenix crawled on top of him, “Please Kal, kiss me.”
A tear fell from Phyre’s eye as he plunged the needle into Phoenix’s chest. Phoenix threw his head back and screamed in agony as Phyre injected the pearly contents straight into his heart. He let go of the needle and Phoenix pulled back and screamed as he pulled the needle out.
He looked at Phyre, “Kal?”
His eyes rolled up into his head and he collapsed onto Phyre’s chest. Phyre laid there breathing hard as he gently pulled Phoenix up to him. Phoenix had tasted his blood and now had his abilities. Phoenix was breathing gently and Phyre hugged him close. He had to do something. He gently lifted Phoenix’s head and kissed him. A blue smoke entered Phoenix’s mouth and nostrils, “Bind my powers in his blood only to awaken when blue turns red.”
Phyre knew the potion would wipe out any short term memories. So his secret was safe. There was no way he could ever allow Phoenix to discover everything about him so quickly. Phoenix could never know that he was a demon. He closed his eyes and waited to be healed completely.
Present 2001
In a flash of red light Phoenix shot up out of his bed looking around with wild startled eyes. He took deep breaths to calm himself as he gazed around his bedroom. He felt something under his hand and lifted it up to see a beautiful black feather. He looked at it in wonder, “How the hell?”
Suddenly his attention shot elsewhere. He looked at the clock and hissed, “shit,” and rolled out of the bed, “I can’t believe I forgot to set that.”
He ran to the door as Phyre walked in, “Hey, I was jut coming to see you.”
Phoenix snarled, “Great job.”
Phyre smiled, “Aren’t celebrities suppose to be late for these kinds of things?”
“Funny Clark,” Phoenix hissed, “And I’m not a celebrity.”
Phyre laughed, “Ok, Ok, I phoned P3 and told them you would be a little late.”
That stopped him, “You did?”
“Yeah,” Phyre said, “Is that good?”
Phoenix pounced on him, “Thank you,” he yelled kissing him, “I can take a shower now.”
Phyre laughed and watched him run to the bathroom. He shook his head and frowned when he saw the black feather on the bed. His heat ached at what he was about to do to the love of his life.
A few minutes later Phoenix came out of the bathroom all dressed and ready to go. Phyre whistled and helped him to the door with his things, “I’ll be there later.”
Phoenix smiled and kissed him bye, “I love you.”
Phyre whispered warmly against his neck, “I love you to.”
Phoenix grinned as the elevator door closed leaving Phyre all alone.
“You know what you must do my lord,” the Seer said from the window.
“I know that,” he snapped, “Now leave me!”
The Seer bowed and vanished as he walked to the bedroom to pull out a small black box. He took a deep breath, “Forgive me Mr. Kent, but it’s the only way I can keep him safe.”
He opened the box and pulled out the ring that was inside. It was a beautiful silver ring with a red stone carved like a flame in the center. He took another deep breath and the slide the ring on his finger.
