A Cancelled Return

“Where’s Rosalyn?” Ronon asked, and Rodney sighed. Rosalyn had gone back to Earth with him, having given Ronon and Jaian the promise of returning.

“Rosalyn and my sister Jeannie have started talking again. Jeannie mellowed after she married her husband, and Madison is showing signs of being one of us. Rosalyn decided to stay for a few months to help Maddie learn how to make shields. Rose, well, she doesn’t know that we left. She was planning to make the trip to the Pegasus galaxy, to Alpha Site next month, but I’m not sure that she’ll be able to make it.”

“Why?” John and Rodney exchanged looks, and Carson nodded at them, urging them to tell Ronon.

“She’s pregnant.” Carson stated. “She must have gotten pregnant just before we left Atlantis. Its been a difficult pregnancy, but being around Jeannie and Madison have helped her. The plan was for her to leave with Rodney for Alpha site, then go to you when you were with the Athosians.” There was a ‘but’ implicit in the statement.

“The child is an ‘earth’ child.” Rodney stated. “If Roz had stayed with you or Jaian, there wouldn’t have been the same problems, the child would have linked to the ground beneath her, but the child’s bonded to the ground on Earth. After Roz gives birth, she’ll be able to come here with the child, but not until then.”

author's note : I do intend to finish this story, but the Lantean occupation of Atlantis, followed by the invasion, then destruction of the Replicators has changed my story line. Besides, I'm in 'hell week' for a Shakespeare performance of Merchant of Venice, and then I have one week to review for exams, so I'm pressed for time.
