What the future holds...
Chapter 7
A/N: Thanks very much for all your reviews, I really appreciate it. Now have any of you wondered why Leo and Piper never had any daughters? I have! And here’s my explanation for you;).
This is a flashback (well, actually, it’s a little episode from the future that Chris is remembering) and we see some interesting things about him and Piper. Enjoy.
As Chris orbed out of the Halliwell kitchen, he snuck another glance at his wife…or rather, would-be wife. She wouldn’t look at him; he knew that she was still a little freaked out from his orbing accident. But he knew that there was a danger out there, he could feel it right now, that someone was out there, trying to prevent him from getting together with Piper.
Had Wyatt sent a demon or an assassin from the future to make sure that he couldn’t be with Piper? The young man obviously had had no respect for his step-father.
"How would you feel if your mother married someone who was your age?" Wyatt had once screamed at Chris. Wyatt had been just eighteen right then, attending college in L.A. Perhaps away from his stepfather most of the times helped him hate the other man a little less. Chris wasn’t Wyatt’s age anyway.
But it sure hadn’t stopped him from becoming a power-hungry tyrant.
Chris remembered how hard Piper had been hit by her son turning evil. "How could this happen?" She had grieved so much. "Didn’t we love him enough? I don’t understand."
No-one understood, really. Nobody understood how someone was descended from the Charmed One could turn so evil and power-hungry.
"He was supposed to be good," she’d wept. There had been so many hop hopes for him.
The decision to go back to the past hadn’t been easy for Chris. He’d even memorized the spell that he would need to change the future for better. He remembered Piper clinging to him desperately before he went back to the past.
"Take care of yourself, ok?" she’d kissed him hungrily on the mouth.
"I don’t wanna go if this hurts you so much," tears brimmed in his eyes.
"You have to, Chris. It’s the only way we can save Wyatt." They embraced again. Piper then withdrew from him and Chris went down on his knees to face a lovely young girl. She couldn’t be more than ten and she had lovely dark hair and soulful green eyes that reminded him of his mother.
She was huddled up against the corner, clutching a teddy bear near her heart. He’d given her this on her eighth birthday and it was her favorite toy.
The young girl gazed up at him, her eyes red from crying. "Promise you’ll come back to us, daddy?" her sweet voice quivered with fear.
He took her in his arms. "I promise I will, Melinda."
His heart broke as he walked through the time portal, leaving his family behind.
The Angel of Destiny had made a terrible mistake.
