BACKBEAT LOVE

Chapter 6

(Bogg and Olivia find a small outdoor cafe, they sit down so that they are in a corner by themselves so they can talk in private. They don't notice Drake sitting close by with a menu in front of his face.)

Olivia: Thank heavens Morgan is ok, I don't know what I would of done if I had lost her.
(Bogg takes her hand and squeezes it gently)
Bogg: I'm glad she's ok.
Olivia: So what are we going to do about Drake?
Bogg: I don't know, but when I find him, he's gonna be sorry.
(Drake snickers behind the menu, when he hears Bogg's remarks)
Olivia: So, I guess you're gonna postpone leaving tomorrow?
Bogg: Yes, I don't want you here with Morgan alone, now that I know Drake is here, he might want to finish the job on Jeffrey and Morgan to get revenge on me.
Olivia: As soon as Morgan is well enough, we're leaving.
Bogg: Good idea.
Olivia: It's just that with Morgan being in the hospital and the information they want...
Bogg: You don't have to explain it to me, I understand.
(meanwhile Jeffrey wakes up to Morgan mumbling, her breathing becomes rapid and quick and suddenly she screams "NO, her left arm is out in front of her and she screams this time "NO,DON'T HURT HIM!" Jeffrey gets off the cot and sits down next to her, he grabs her uninjured shoulder and shakes her.)
Jeffrey: Morgan, wake up!
(Morgan's eyes stay shut and her arm falls to her side and she is quiet. Jeffrey reaches over and strokes her hair, moving his hand down to her face so he can stroke it.)
Jeffrey: Shh, it's ok.
(Morgan's breathing goes back to normal. Jeffrey doesn't bother laying back on the cot, he lays on the bed on his side. He gently wraps his arm around her as to protect her from harm, he gently holds her hand. Jeffrey falls back to sleep, tired.)
Olivia: I found this in her jeans pocket.
(Olivia pulls out the strip with the three photos of Jeffrey and Morgan together smiling and looking at each other. Bogg takes it and looks at it.)
Bogg: Jeffrey has to have the other half.
Olivia: Do you think they are getting too serious?
Bogg: I don't know, but we should wait and see what happens, right now we need to keep them both safe.
Olivia: Yeah.
(Olivia and Bogg get up, Drake waits until it's safe to follow them. Olivia and Bogg head back to the hospital.)
Bogg: I can't believe Jeffrey is 18 years old already.
Olivia: I know, it seems like yesterday Morgan was only a kid.
(Bogg and Olivia arrive at the hopital and head to the room, the guard waves them in. Bogg and Oliva notice Jeffrey laying next to Morgan on his side, his arm wrapped around Morgan, his hand holding hers. Bogg goes up to the bed and nudges Jeffrey)
Bogg: Jeffrey.
(Jeffrey wakes up, he let's go of Morgan's hand and rubs his eyes.)
Olivia: Is everything ok?
Jeffrey: The nurse gave Morgan some medication that makes her sleep.
Olivia: Did she have a nightmare?
Jeffrey: Yeah, it wasn't too bad, but I calmed her down, so she wouldn't hurt her shoulder more.
Olivia: I'm afraid the nightmares are coming back.
(Jeffrey sits down on the cot and watches as Olivia takes Morgan's hand.15 minutes later Morgan wakes up and looks at Olivia.)
Olivia: Hi, you're awake.
Morgan: The medicine they gave me, makes me sleep, I don't like sleeping.
Olivia: Shh, it's ok, I'll tell them not to give it to you, if you don't want it.
Morgan: Don't they have something that will take away the pain and not make me sleep?
Olivia: I don't know.
Jeffrey: The nurse was alittle pushy.
(Jeffrey gets up when he hears the guard telling someone they are not allowed in the room, he recognizes the accent and goes to see what's going on, he smiles when he sees it's Paul McCarthy.)
Jeffrey: It's ok officer, he's a friend.
Guard: Ok, if you say so.
Jeffrey: Come on in.
(Jeffrey notices the 4 red roses in his hand, regretting of letting him in to see Morgan and raises an eyebrow)
Jeffrey: Morgan look who's here.
Morgan: Paul, what are you doing here?
Paul: Heard what happened, thought I'd come see how you were doing and to thank you for the incouragement and inspiration, the other guys would of came, but they haven't finished packing yet.
Morgan: You're welcome I guess.
Paul: These are for you.
(Paul holds out the 4 red roses and Morgan takes them, she smells them and then smiles at Paul)
Paul: One from each of us to say thanks.
Morgan: They're beautiful.
Paul: So are you, expecially your eyes, they remind me of diamonds.
Jeffrey: Oh brother.
(Morgan smiles and then looks at Jeffrey, she notices the look and then tells Paul)
Morgan: Thanks for the roses and the compliment Paul.
Paul: Maybe we'll meet again.
Morgan: Maybe, you never know.
Paul: Well I have to go.
(Paul leans in and kiss Morgan on the month, only breaking the kiss when Jeffrey clears his throat.)
Morgan: Bye Paul, tell the others thanks and have a safe trip to Germany.
Paul: Ok.
(Paul leaves)
Morgan: Oh my god, that was Paul McCarthy.
Jeffrey: We know.
Morgan: He kissed me.
Jeffrey: So?
(Morgan looks at Jeffrey and the smiles)
Jeffrey: What?
Morgan: Nothing.
(Bogg and Olivia look at each other and then at Jeffrey and Morgan, it doesn't take to long for them to figure out what's going on)
Olivia: Ok, what's going on?
Jeffrey: What do you mean?
Morgan: Nothing is going on.
Bogg: Right, Jeffrey, you and I need to talk.
Jeffrey: But Bogg.
Bogg: No, buts, come on.
(Bogg and Jeffrey leave. Morgan watches them go and then looks at Olivia)
Oliva: We need to talk too, I found this in your jeans pocket.
(Olivia pulls out the photo strip.)
Olivia: What's going on with you two?
Morgan: Nothing.
(Olivia raises an eyebrow)
Olivia: You two didn't, you know.
Morgan: Didn't do what?
Olivia: Have sex.
Morgan: And if we did?
Olivia: Morgan, please say you didn't.
Morgan: I can't, we did and we both wanted it, ok?
Olivia: I just don't want you to get hurt over it.
Morgan: I'm not hurt over it and Jeffrey and I both agreed to it, we have this connection and now I know it's true after Paul came today.
(Meanwhile Jeffrey and Bogg took a walk to the cafeteria, they found a private spot to talk)
Bogg: I saw how jeolous you got when Paul kissed Morgan and when he gave her those roses, I know the signs.
Jeffrey: What signs.
Bogg: The signs, you two didn't do what I think you two did, did you?
Jeffrey: And what if we did?
Bogg: "Oh, shit, Jeffrey! What did I tell you?!"
Jeffrey: We both wanted it, you wouldn't understand how I feel about her.
Bogg: Try me.
Jeffrey: It's hard to explain, it's like we're both connected and it's like we both have so much in common, I get this feeling everytime I'm with her, she feels it too. I care about her so much.
Bogg: First loves are always the hardest, what's going to happen when you two, don't see each other ever again.
Jeffrey: I know we will see each other again, someday, that's why we took pictures in that photo booth on the corner of that street, she has one half and I have the other half.
Bogg: What if it's years and years until you see each other?
Jeffrey: We accept that, didn't you when you were never saw Olivia again until now?
Bogg: We're grownups, you're just kids.
Jeffrey: I told you, you wouldn't understand.
Bogg: Jeffrey, what you are probably feeling isn't love, it's called lust..
Jeffrey: Just forget it Bogg, I don't think it's lust, I think I really love her.
Bogg: Jeffrey, you don't know what love is.
Jeffrey: Yes I do, anyway I'm sure you and Olivia spent the night together a few times since we've been here.
Bogg: We weren't talking about Olivia and I.
(Meanwhile back with Morgan and Olivia)
Olivia: You really care about him don't you?
Morgan: Yes I do, I think I love him.
Olivia: First loves are always the hardest, but what if you two never see each other again?
Morgan: We will, just like you and Bogg and don't tell me you two haven't spent the night together since you've been here.
(Olivia blushes)
Morgan: So it's true.
Olivia: I care about him alot.
Morgan: Seems to me that you are in love with him.
Olivia: I wouldn't go that far.
(Meanwhile back with Bogg and Jeffrey)
Bogg: I just don't want you to get hurt.
Jeffrey: I know Bogg.
Bogg: So how was it?
Jeffrey: The most amazing thing ever.
Bogg: That's how I felt the first time.
Jeffrey: You did?
Bogg: Except I never saw her again after that, she graduated a full pledged voyager and we haven't seen each other since and I truly fell for her hard.
Jeffrey: I'm sorry Bogg.
Bogg: So you see, I don't want you to go through that.
Jeffrey: I can't stay a kid forever, I need to experience things for myself Bogg.
Bogg: I know kid.
Jeffrey: Just don't get mad at me when I want to do things on my own sometimes.
Bogg: Ok.
(Back with Olivia and Morgan)
Morgan: Olivia, it's ok to be worried about me.
Olivia: I know kid.
Morgan: You're doing it again.
Oliva: Sorry, it's just that you're growing up and I just don't want you to get hurt.
Morgan: I know, but you gotta let me experience things on my own sometimes, I can't stay a kid forever.
Olivia: So how was it?
Morgan: It was incredible, don't worry Jeffrey was very gentle and it was his first time too.
Olivia: I'll be right back, I'm gonna go see if we can get something to put these roses in.
Morgan: Ok.
(Olivia leaves and bumps into Jeffrey and Bogg.)
Olivia: Bogg would you to come with me and see if we can find something to put those red roses in?
Bogg: Sure.
(Bogg and Olivia leave, Jeffrey goes back into the room and sits in a chair next to Morgan's bed)
Morgan: Don't tell me, Bogg asked about it too.
Jeffrey: Yeah, I told him.
Morgan: I told Olivia, she wasn't too happy about it.
Jeffrey: Bogg was trying to lecture me about it.
Morgan: I don't care what they say Jeffrey.
Jeffrey: I don't either.
(Morgan takes the red roses, she puts them on the empty chair.)
Morgan: Jeffrey, could you take me outside now?
Jeffrey: Sure, I'll get the wheelchair.
(Jeffrey gets up and walks over to a wheelchair that's folded, he unfolds it and then snaps everything in place and wheels it to the bed. Morgan gets up slowly, wincing in pain alittle bit, she sits in the chair, grabbing a blanket in the closet to cover up with)
Jeffrey: You ready to go?
(Jeffrey wheels Morgan out.)
Officer: I have an extra man stationed outside of the hospital, let me call him, so he can come with you.
Jeffrey: Ok, just do me a favor and make sure he's not seen.
Officer: Ok.
(The officer calls up the other one and informs him)
Officer: He'll follow you at a distance.
Morgan: Thanks.
(Jeffrey wheels Morgan outside on a patio, she looks at the beautiful scenery.)
Morgan: It's so beautiful here, I'm kinda going to miss it here.
Jeffrey: I'm gonna miss you when we go our separate ways.
Morgan: I'm gonna miss you too, but you never know we might see each other someday.
Jeffrey: Yeah, but still.
(Morgan moves alitte and winces in pain)
Jeffrey: Are you ok?
Morgan: Yeah, just got a twinge.
Jeffrey: Do you want me to take you inside?
Morgan: Not yet.
(Jeffrey sits down in a chair next to the wheelchair, he takes Morgan's hand and squeezes it.)
Jeffrey: Bogg told me about his first love, it's kinda sad if you think about it.
Morgan: Olivia didn't tell me hers, but of course she's worried I'm gonna get hurt emotionally.
(Drake stood far away to watch Morgan and Jeffrey, he was mad, because he couldn't get closer, he wasn't sure who had his omni, but he was going to make sure to get it back, no matter how, he leaves and heads towards his hotel he's staying at. About a hour later Morgan and Jeffrey come back to the room. Olivia put the roses in a plastic vase and set them on the nightstand. Bogg and Olivia were watching the tv. It was late and Olivia helped Morgan into the bed carefully. Morgan winced in pain as she tried to get comfortable in the bed)
Bogg: I just talked to the officer, there will be a guard outside around the clock.
Jeffrey: Ok, thanks.
Morgan: Are you two going to stay here?
Bogg: No, we're gonna go and look for Drake, find out where he's staying.
Olivia: Don't worry, you two will be safe here.
Jeffrey: Bogg, be careful.
Morgan: You too, Olivia.
Bogg: I will.
Olivia: Don't worry, we have a plan.
(Olivia lied)
(Bogg and Olivia leave as the nurse comes in. Olivia quickly makes sure the nurse can't ask her about the papers she needs to fill out)
Nurse: Time for your medication.
Morgan: Don't you have anything that won't make me sleep?
Nurse: Sorry, but this medication isn't just for pain dear.
(Morgan takes the cup and glass of water, she takes the pills and water. she hands them back to the nurse, the nurse turns off the tv and then leaves)
Morgan: Promise me you won't leave.
Jeffrey: I promise.
(Morgan slowly gets up and goes into the bathroom, she flushes the toliet and then comes back out, she lays back down on the bed, wincing in pain alittle bit and then closes her eyes. Jeffrey decides to lay next to her. He lays on his side, wraps his arm around her. He reaches over and takes her hand. He watches as she slowly falls asleep)
Jeffery: Sweet dreams Morgan.
(Jeffrey let's himself relax as he listens to the sound of Morgan's steady breathing.)
