Morning Roll Call or the "Oh, Crap! We Could Have Been Caught!" Moment

~~~~~~~~~~
Schultz came for the morning routine. Hogan and Kinch looked at
each apprehensively. How could Kinch's limp be explained if he
could walk. What would they tell Klink if Kinch couldn't walk.
"Do you think you walk?" Hogan asked.
"Yes. I can manage, Colonel. Thanks" Kinch said. A smile flashed
across his lips. He slowly stood and stabled himself. Hogan was
ready to catch Kinch if he started to lose his balance. Kinch managed to limp out.
"Kinch, what is wrong?" Schultz asked.
"What are you talking about, Schultz?"
"You're limping. What happened?" Schultz asked.
"Of all the times for Schultz to notice something out of place." Hogan thought.
Hogan was about to open his mouth to explain.
"I slept funny last night. I guess the three years of sleeping on
those awful bunks have finally caught up with me." Kinch said.
Hogan grinned slightly. It wasn't a lie, actually.
The bunks were hard and every POW hadn't had a good nights sleep since their arrival.
"Good old Kinch. He's a real smooth talker when he needs or wants to be." Hogan thought.
Schultz went on about his business. The others dispersed to go about
their morning routines. Carter, Newkirk and LeBeau gathered around
Hogan and Kinch just as Kinch sat down.
"That was real smooth talking, Kinch." Carter said with his usual boyish enthusiasm.
"Thanks. After being around two of the masters of smooth talking,
you kind of pick up a few things." Kinch said.
"Who are these two guys? I sure would like to meet them!" Carter said, wide eyed.
"If I'm guessing correctly, I believe that Kinch is talking
about Colonel Hogan and myself." Newkirk said, looking at Kinch.
"Carter, meet the masters." Kinch told him with a gentle smile. Carter chuckled.
That was something Carter liked about Kinch. He never poked fun at Carter.
Kinch had always taken Carter's personality and naivete in good stride.
LeBeau watched how Hogan's expression changed when he would look at Kinch.
There was definitely something there. He then noticed when Kinch looked
at Hogan for the briefest moment. There was a tenderness there that LeBeau
hadn't seen since he had been placed in Stalag 13.
