At home


“If you won that much why didn’t you drive or I don’t know take the limo or helicopter or something”? He asked her “I love to walk, I love walking by the river it’s calming and nice and if you walk on a good day you can smell the nice smell coming from Jordan’s Mill”. She said as he got up and started pushing buttons on the consol. Then when they landed he came back and sat down again. “What’s just happened”? Nicola asked looking up at the green tube. “We’ve just moved no need to worry”. He said as he took her into his arms again. “You know, I was abused as a child”. She said. “Really”? The Doctor was starting to get angry at what her life was going. “Emhm, a man who was a friend of our family used to touch us”. She said. “Us? You mean your sister and you”. He said and she nodded. “It’s all over now though he got what he deserved, life in a wheelchair I think he’s dead now”. She said. The Doctor looked mad. “Thank you for listening Doctor”. She said as she tightened her hold around his waist. “Come on you’re home”. He said pulling away and helping her up. They walked to the door to the TARDIS and the Doctor opened the door for her. They were in the Utility room, Nicola opened the other door and they stepped into the porch room, Nicola started panicking, as all she was wearing still was the Doctor’s jacket. “What's the matter now”? He asked calmly. “My keys were in my trousers before he … ripped them off”. Nicola said panicking still. “No problems, be thankful I’m here”. He said pulling out the Sonic screwdriver, “The best thing to unlock things”. He said as he put the blue light onto the key lock which unlocked it, he opened the door and they went in. “The Living-room is through that door, please make yourself at home Doctor, it’s all open-planned so you can find your way, I’m going to get changed”. She said going upstairs to her room. The Doctor went into the Living room. “Woof” came a tiny bark and then a cry. He went over to have a look, in a box in the dining room was another dog but she had very young puppies inside. The mother dog looks like she’s just had them, as she looked hot and sweaty. “Would you like a drink”? He said, when he looked around and saw the kitchen, he got up and went into the fridge and found some milk, he put a drop of it in her bowl and put the milk back, then put the bowl in a space next to the pups, the dog looked grateful at him and started drinking.
Nicola came back in and was in some new clothes, she handed back the Doctor’s jacket. “Oh! She’s had them, you good girl Pip, oh thanks Doctor”. She said as he put it back on. “Who’s Pip, You said a dog, a cat and a Parrot”? He asked. “Pip’s my parent’s dog. Pip got out one day and mated with the Jack Russell two doors down”. Nicola said bending and stroked Pip then picked one of the pups up. “Is it alright to pick them up”? He asked. “Knar, she’s fine. Just as long as we stay in eyes sight she doesn’t mind”. She told as she gave the pup one last cuddle and put it back then one last pat for Pip, Nicola went and washed her hands, the Doctor took the bowl of milk out and followed her. “You seem to know a lot about her”. He said, she nodded as she dried her hands. “That isn’t the first litter of pups she had. I had another dog before Sapphy, Pip’s daughter Ellie”. Nicola said. There was a pregnant pause “Ellie died Three day’s after having Sapphy and her sister Lacy, my sister and me raised them both up ourselves”. She said as she put the kettle on. “Tea or Coffee”? She asked “Coffee please”. He said walking back into the Living room. She was just putting the coffee into a mug when she looked up and out of the window.
