Chapter Five

Count D held out the stone of power to the mystical energy of the earth that was being harnessed for the “Terra Bomb.” He did tell Isobel that he would give her the stone just not in what condition. The “Terra Bomb” would revive Nature and change the landscape of the world in a matter of hours. He would have his Leon back and all would be well once more.

He began to chant in the musical language of the Green and the stone of power began to resonate along with the stored energy. The Count’s eyes glowed with power and delight as he watched the power grow and hum with more vigor.

Soon his world would be restored to him and humanity will be gone. Leon will hold his hand and Chris will hold his other while they watch the world be reborn from his floating ship in the sky.

A smile brightened his beautiful face as he kept chanting for the stone to fuel the “Terra Bomb.” The stone seemed to have an unlimited amount of power and this made him smile even brighter. It looked like that pesky witch might get what she wanted after all. This turned out to be such a pleasant night indeed as glowing shades of green hues filled the Count’s beautiful mismatched eyes.

“Mother,” Jason said and the lovely woman looked up at him from her latest romance novel.

“Yes Possum,” she asked in that sweet motherly tone.

“You really don’t have to stay here you know,” he said with that cute smile that meant that he was up to something.

“Why sweetheart,” she cooed reaching over to muss his hair, “Of course I do.”

“Why,” he asked crossing his arms in a huff.

“Because you’ll sneak out and get yourself into all kinds of trouble,” she said in her funny baby voice that irked him so much.

He let out a deep breath and Genevieve made a face.

“What,” he asked gruffly.

“Do you want me to get you some water and a pan,” she asked, “You really need to brush your teeth.”

He burped and blew it on her.

Jonathan just sat there on the bed wondering how in the world he had not seen this before. Had he just been too afraid of what doors and troubles it might open? Had his fears caused his son pain?

All those terrible stories in the news about gay bashings and all the harassing gay kids had to take while in school. He knew that Clark could handle himself but that could get him expelled for getting into fights. He could also lose his cool and really hurt somebody thus exposing his alien heritage. He had wanted his son to have a normal life and all these years it has been everything but normal.

His son was gay and this scared him. He loves his son with all his heart and would kill and die for him but this meant people would look at his son with scorn and think him unclean. He was terrified because he would actually pull out his gun without thinking and shoot a bastard in the face if they ever called his son a fag. Then he would have to have Clark hide the body on some high mountain top in the Arctic and he wasn’t sure if he could keep such a secret like that from Martha. She would know he had a secret and would dig it out of him with a spoon or bribe it out of Clark with sweets.

“Martha,” he said, “I’ll kill anyone who calls him a fag.”

Martha smiled and hugged him tight, “And I’ll just have to help hide the body,” she said, “I think a mountain would be a good place.”

The both of them looked at each other and snorted. Martha pulled the covers up as they got into bed and Jonathan turned the lights out. The two of them were going to have to have a talk with their son if he was going to date Jason. They were going to have to be very cautious if they were going to date while Clark was still in school and Jason was the teacher.

“Goodnight sweetheart,” Jonathan said while kissing her neck.

“Night dear,” she said holding his hand giving it a tight squeeze.

Isobel threw in some oil of mushroom and cackled stereotypically, “Oh how I’ve missed the smells of potion making.”

She reached over and tossed in some lizard eyes and smiled as the black candle lit on its own. All she needed now was the two hairs from two virgins.

She quickly plucked one from her head and tossed it in and decided to sneak in on Clark with some enchanted scissors this time. No way was she going to make the same mistake twice.

Her eyes glowed violet and she vanished in a flash to go and get the final ingredient in order to obtain her stone.

888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888

She walked out of the shadows to curse when she saw the dog asleep on the ground while Clark was sprawled across his bed half naked. She froze when the dog lifted its head to look at her and she quickly pointed a well manicured finger at the damn beast and whispered, “Intr gelare.”

Thor froze in place. He could not move or make a sound to warn his master at all.

Isobel smiled evilly at him and held out her scissors whispering, “Acuere.”

The scissors glowed violet and she loomed over Clark’s head and quickly cut off a strand of his hair. At first she actually thought of just digging the scissors through his heart and then pulling it out. She decided she did not have the time to enjoy such hot blood play.

She quickly vanished and Thor began to bark madly. Clark sprung up looking around wildly.

“What is it boy,” he asked looking around to see nothing.

“Go back to sleep boy,” he said with a yawn, “Its nothing.”

Thor growled and sniffed the air to find that the intruder was indeed gone. He jumped up near Clark’s feet and curled up. Clark smiled and moved his feet to give him some more room before falling back into dreams.

88888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888

Isobel quickly added the single hair from Clark’s head to the soul restoration potion and the brew hissed loudly. She watched intently as the pearly mixture began to swirl in a counter clockwise motion to suddenly turn completely clear. All she needed now was to give it to the Count and have him give it to the one to be possessed. In a way she was very curious as to who the intended host would be but right now she really needed to get some sleep. She had an exam in math tomorrow.

D collapsed to the ground in a fluttering hiss of silk from complete and utter exhaustion. He slowly turned his head over to smile at the “Terra Bomb” in great satisfaction.

Q-Chan fluttered down to land on his chest chirping in concern. D smiled at his best friend, “I am fine.”

Q-Chan scratched a large fluffy ear and D giggled, “The stone holds vast alien power,” he said looking over at the stone that had fallen with him a few feet away, “Nature will be stronger and more awesome that ever when I am ready to unleash my fury upon the humans.”

Q-Chan chirped again and D scratched under his chin, “I must keep my word,” he told him, “Or risk losing my Leon forever.”

Q-Chan hopped forward to look at him with big wet eyes and D’s heart trembled for a minute but his resolve conquered, “I will do whatever is necessary to hold him in my arms once more.”

That single gunshot that had stolen his world away from him rang in his ear once more and his wrath burned hotter and wilder than any forest fire. Q-Chan fluttered up as D crawled shakily to his knees as the animals of his shop gathered around their master.

A majestic creature of legend stepped forward and gathered his God up in his strong arms. D smiled at the handsome Minotaur that looked completely human except for the huge horns that curled around his ears. His skin was the color of bronze and his hair as black as midnight. He was over eight feet tall and was pure muscle and sex.

D caressed his handsome face with a deadly pale hand, “Would you take me to my bed?”

His onyx eyes sparkled with love for his Beloved, “Of course Deity.”

D leaned up and kissed him on the cheek affectionately and held out a finger For Q-Chan to land on, “Guard the stone?”

Q-Chan made the salute signal and D chuckled. He rested his head against Bane’s hard chest as the Minotaur carried his God to his bedchamber.

Q-Chan picked up the stone and slowly carried it up to his nest in the rafters. He looked down at the glowing “Terra Bomb” and his horns grew a little sharper.

Bane gently laid his God down on the bed of silk and D softly grabbed his wrist, “Will you stay and hold me?”

D felt foolish for asking this but he was weakened and vulnerable now, but Bate nodded his head and curled up next to his God on the massive bed. D curled Bane’s long dark hair around a long pale finger smiling, “Soon the world will be ours once more,” and gently fell into slumber.

Bane held his God just like that for the rest of the night. He knew that his Beloved had weakened himself to the point of being vulnerable to attack, so he did not close his eyes once while D was sweetly dreaming of explaining patiently to Leon the difference between Lipton and the Iron God of Mercy.

88888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888

Jason was woken by a knock at his door and opened his eyes to see Clark walk in all bright eyed and bushy tailed. He looked over to see his mother powdering her nose and smiling at Clark from her compact. It really was amazing how the woman was able to look and stay beautiful after spending the night in a hospital.

“Good morning,” Clark said with a big goofy grin, “I got the two of you some coffee from the Talon.”

“I’m not talking to you,” Jason said turning his head away from him, “You left me in this terrible place with a woman who would wear puppies if it suited her mood.”

Genevieve took her coffee, “Why thank you Clark,” she said with a grin, “My son never was a morning person.”

Clark simply kissed Jason on the cheek and put the coffee in his hands not minding the sexy stubble that tickled his nose, “Drink your coffee Mr. Teague,” he said with a stern voice, “I paid back breaking money for that.”

“I must say,” Mrs. Teague said with honesty, “This is a splendid cup of coffee.”

“My mom makes the best,” he said and Jason took a small sip and then moaned in satisfaction.

“I’ll make sure and tell mom that you enjoyed it,” Clark told her just as the doctor came in telling Jason that he was free to go.

Jason was up and out of that bed in a heartbeat. He did not even mind that mild pain from the fractured rib just so long as he got the hell out of there.

Clark handed him his clothes and he walked into the bathroom to put them on. Genevieve looked over at Clark and took another sip of her coffee, “How long have you known my son?”

“For a few months now,” Clark told her honestly, “We actually got closer this week.”

“Closer,” she asked taking another sip of coffee, “So the two of you only started dating this week?”

“Yes,” Clark told her as he took a seat on the ruffled bed which surprised her. This young man was not intimidated by her at all. Or, was he just pretending?

“Amazing,” she said sitting back down in her chair to cross those lovely long legs, “So, how is he?”

Clark wanted to slap her but decided to play it cool. He could be a bitch to when the mood struck him. Just ask those who knew him when he snorted the red k.

“He’s absolutely amazing,” Clark told her with a devilish grin, “He can be such an animal.”

Genevieve was really starting to like this young man more and more. He had backbone and really was not afraid to speak his mind. She knew that he really must be joking of course. Jason was as timid as a baby deer when it came right down to it. It was only when he was blinded by rage did he truly become an animal.

She was about to tell him “well done” but her son came out all dressed and ready to leave. She watched Clark walk up to him from the bed to gently touch the bruises around his neck.

He looked into Jason’s eyes and smiled sadly while he gently traced the dark spots, “I’m sorry I was not there.”

“It’s not your fault,” Jason told him while seeing the way his mother was looking at Clark with a critical eye, “Let’s get out of here.”

“I have to get to school,” Clark told him as they walked out followed by Genevieve.

“What are you doing later tonight,” Jason asked him as they stepped into the warm sunlight and it felt great on his cold skin making him smile.

“Not really sure yet,” Clark said gently taking his hand to squeeze it, “But you’ll be the first to know.”

Jason looked at him and kissed him square on the lips and Genevieve almost lost her graceful balance only to catch herself. Was the boy mad? He really should be more careful in this backwatered community.

Jason smiled at him and Clark waved as he ran off to flag down the bus that was just now coming down the street. Genevieve narrowed her eyes wondering how they boy even got here in the first place.

Jason stood there for a moment in confusion wondering how in the hell did Clark get here in the first place to. Maybe his dad dropped him off after they got done with the Talon or something;

“Something wrong dear,” Genevieve asked.

“Nope,” Jason said and slowly jogged off, “Catch you later Mommy Dearest!”

She just stood there watching him run off around the corner that led into the shopping district. She pulled out her cell and called for her driver. It was time to really check out this quaint little town.

88888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888

Isobel walked through the door, literally, and waved to the Count who was making morning tea. It was like every time she came to this place the deity was having some form of refreshment.

She held up the potion in the vial, “Now give me the stone.”

D looked at her sternly, “Not until I have my Leon back.”

“This potion will do just that,” she said starting to get mad, “I want my stone Count.”

“And you shall,” he said as if he were talking to a small child, “Once I have my Leon.”

Her eyes started to glow an angry violet and then she calmed herself, “Who do you want it given to?”

Count D smiled, “Clark Kent.”

Isobel shook her head, “I don’t think so.”

“What,” he asked with narrowed eyes.

“He’s special,” she told him, “He has powers that can stand against my own.”

“Powers,” D asked.

“Really fast, super strong, can shoot fire from his eyes,” she listed off for him, “Has an ass tighter than steel.”

“I want it given to him,” D said matter of fact leaving no room for argument.

“And what if it doesn’t work genius, “she asked with a hand on her hip just glaring at him angrily.

“Then I keep the stone,” he told her flat out.

“Fulgur,” Isobel shouted and violet lightning shot from the tips of her fingers shattering the delicate tea cup in his hand.

Glass shattered and tea fell all over D. He looked up at her in mild anger, “And here I thought you had some sense of intelligence.”

“I will blast this shop to bits Count,” she raged in anger while he merely cleaned himself off before turning on her like a raging cyclone.

“Here is what you’re going to do you little maggot,” he hissed with thunder, “You’re going to make fliers for a karaoke contest tonight at the Talon.”

“And why the fuck am I going to do that you mulch,” she asked with pure venom metaphorically dripping from her mouth.

“Because,” D told her, “That way I can give Clark his tea.”

“Did you not get the whole spill about his powers,” Isobel asked him, “He might be immune to soul possession.”

“Just do as I say,” D snapped like lightning striking a tree right down the middle, “Or I’ll tear you to shreds!”

Isobel cocked her head to the side and hissed, “I’ll have that stone even if this does not work,” and she was gone just like that.

A vine coiled out of D and lashed out at the table striking it to splinters from the force of the divine blow. His hair blew madly around his face like wings of darkness. He was so pissed and yet happy at the same time. He was going to have his Leon back and humanity was doomed. Tonight was going to be fun.

Lex was sitting at his desk looking at the map he had discovered within the painting he had recently lied to Clark about. He was going to follow this map and discover the stone that’s hidden in that strange temple in China. He knew that his dad had gone over that place with a fine toothed comb but he was going to find that stone and he was going to need help.

88888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888

Chloe walked into the Torch to see Clark asleep. He had his feet propped up on his desk snoring rather loudly and she could not resist the evil voice in her head.

She saw a roll of wrapping paper and picked it up. She looked over at him and silently stepped over to him and gently put it close to his ear. He looked so cute and innocent just lying there snoring peacefully. It really was a shame that Chloe Sullivan had such a dark gift.

She fought not to snicker and took a deep breath and screamed into the roll, “ALIENS!”

Clark bolted up screaming and fell to the floor with a yelp. He crawled to his knees looking around like a deer caught in headlights until he heard Chloe snort.

She threw one hand up and howled with laughter while the other hand held her stomach. She quickly gripped the side of the desk with her free hand to keep from falling. That had been worth getting up out of bed for today. If only she had gotten this on film. She would be hundred thousand dollars richer right now.

Clark got to his feet with an angry growl, “That was not funny.”

Tears were streaming from her eyes while she let loose another fit of mad laughter, “Yeah,” she snorted and then howled, “It really was.”

He rolled his eyes and picked up his chair, “What if I had hurt myself?”

She took a deep breath to calm herself but the look on his face made her laugh all over again, “The floor caught you didn’t it?”

“What’s so funny,” Isobel asked from the door.

“Nothing,” Clark said pulling Chloe after him, “Come on Chloe I need some help with my thing.”

Chloe giggled, “Clark needs help with his thing,” and she staggered after him still howling with laughter.

“Huh,” Isobel thought and then called out, “I need to use the copier!”

“Okay,” Chloe called back still laughing, “Keys in the desk!”

“Thanks,” Isobel shouted back.

“Now,” she said opening the drawer and taking out the key, “To get started on that flier.”

88888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888

“He what,” Chloe asked in outrage and Clark quickly covered her mouth to keep from drawing attention to them.

“That’s not all,” he said and told her the rest.

“He what,” she bellowed only to slap his hand away in annoyance, “First he strangles your boyfriend, cracks his rib, then comes to apologize with an, I’m in love with you?”

“Pretty much,” Clark told her, “Now you see why I’m so tired.”

Chloe nodded, “Sorry about scaring you,” and then she snorted, “But it was priceless.”

“A moment I’m sure you’ll cherish forever,” he said sarcastically.

“You bet,” she told him with a bright white smile.

He rolled his eyes again and she asked, “What are you going to do?”

“I’m with Jason,” Clark told her, “And he knows this now.”

“And you fell out of the window into a pile of hay when he said that he was in love with you,” she asked with a shake of her head, “Classic.”

“I really should have just kept that to myself,” he thought and said, “I was in shock.”

“I don’t think I could forgive him for doing something like that,” Chloe said looking at Lana who was putting up a flier, “You’re too forgiving for your own good spaceman.”

“He said he would never hurt me,” Clark whispered, “You should have seen how scared he looked and how open he was.”

“What will Jason say,” Chloe asked.

“I don’t know,” Clark said biting his lower lip in worry, “His mother is a wolf.”

“You met his mother,” Chloe asked in shock getting to her feet.

“Oh yeah,” Clark said standing up with her, “She brings out the bitch in me.”

Chloe snorted and then narrowed her eyes, “You didn’t do or say anything bad did you?”

“Nope,’ Clark told her, “I just spoke my mind.”

“Huh,” Chloe thought really looking at him, “Clark is possessive.”

The two of them walked over to look at the flier to see that the Talon was having a Karaoke party tonight.

“That looks like fun,” Chloe said.

“It does,” Clark smiled thinking some things over, “I’ll have to tell Jason.”

“Clark,” Chloe said looking around the two of them, “You need to be careful with this relationship. Not everyone is kind and tolerant.”

“I know,” Clark whispered, “And I’ll smash anyone who fucks with us.”

“Oh,” Chloe said in a shocked high pitched over the top voice, “I just love it when you talk nasty!”

That got several peoples attentions and the two of them snorted and walked off back to the Torch. Clark was smiling all the way because he was wondering if he could somehow get Jason to get up there and sing.

888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888

Martha was more than happy to be apart of Count D’s fundraiser to help raise money to help stray animals. It was a noble cause and seeing that they had bought a wonderful friend from him she immediately agreed to it. It would be great business for the Talon and even greater publicity for the pet shop.

D smiled brightly as he directed people to set up the small stage and to arrange the tables around the sides of it. He was more than pleased when everything runs smoothly.

He did have another run in with the sheriff Adams about the Dickinson family earlier this morning. They had been mauled to death by some kind of wild animal. He had shown her the legally signed contract that he had sold them a harmless hamster. She had taken the contract and left in a tizzy. Apparently someone had not had their morning cup of tea yet, that poor dear sweet thing.

He was getting closer and closer to getting his Leon back and nothing was going to stop him now until he heard someone shout his name. He turned around to see none other than the young Alexander Luthor walking towards him from the front of the shop.

“Good afternoon,” he said with a polite bow, “May I help you?”

“Yes,” Lex said with a polite nod, “I am in need of your help actually.”

He motioned or D to follow him over to a table in a dark corner out of the way and handed him a print off of the ancient map.

D narrowed his eyes as he looked it over, “This is the most mysterious temple in all of China.”

“And I need a guide,” Lex said in a whisper while the help worked around them, “I’m more than willing to pay.”

“What makes you think I can help you,” D asked in mild curiosity.

“Because,” Lex said with a smile, “Any man who can sell my father a pet must be very special.”

“What do you seek in this holy place,” D asked suddenly realizing why the symbols in the cave looked familiar. They were the same as the ones in this temple.

“A special stone,” Lex whispered.

Count D’s eyes glowed, “I’ll see what I can do Mr. Luthor.”

“It is greatly appreciated Count,” Lex said while turning to leave, “Do keep this between the two of us.”

“Of course,” D whispered, “People would kill to get their hands on this map.”

He sat there at the table watching the young Luthor heir leave and smiled darkly as he looked the ancient map over. Isobel can have her stone. He wanted this one.

888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888

Clark called Jason’s cell, only see get his voicemail, “This is Jason, leave me voice.”

Clark snorted when the beep went off, “You’re such a dork. Anyway, the Talon is having Karaoke tonight to raise money for stray animals. I was wondering if you would like to go and hang out as “friends.” Call me back when you get this. It starts at nine.”

He hung up the phone and slid it into his pocket as he ran out the school doors. It was a Friday night and he had special plans to make.

8888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888

Isobel had listened in on Lex’s and D’s little conversation about going to China for the second stone of power. She decided it was time to really get down to business. After tonight she would have the first stone of power and tomorrow she would have the second stone as well.

It was very convenient that the two fools thought it was a map. She clapped her hands together in joy. They would be too busy checking out the temple to know she would be at the very spot where the stone was buried.

She got to her feet and quickly decided it was time to get dressed and prepare for the Talon tonight. Once the stone of power was in her hand she would literally be out of there in a flash.

8888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888

The Talon was really starting to get packed with people because the residents seemed to be smitten with the owner of the fantastic pet shop. Martha was really excited because people donated some money as they came in to help out with the fund, and they would also tip each person who got up to sing which would raise even more money.

D was sitting at a table in the corner looking to see if Clark was going to show up. He would soon have his Leon back in his arms once again. Both of his eyes glowed when he saw the pretty farmboy walk in.”

888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888

Clark was really amazed at how crowded the Talon was. He really hoped that Jason got his message in time to come.

“Hello Clark,” a cool sultry voice said from behind him and he turned around to see Mrs. Teague smiling at him, “How’re you this lovely evening?”

“I’m good,” he said and then decided to ask, “Is Jason here?”

“I have not seen my son since he fled my presence upon being released from the hospital,” she told him while taking a sip of her Coke looking around at the fashion deprived citizens.

Clark nodded and then asked, “I apologize for asking this,” he said, “But why is someone like you here?”

Genevieve almost had coke come out her nose and it burned like a bitch. That boy had some serious balls asking a question like that of her. She turned her straw around in her drink with a well manicured hand, “I want to see why my son is so entranced by this type of lifestyle.”

“We live simple lives,” Clark told her even though nothing about his life was simple, “We don’t have to worry about constantly holding onto power.”

Genevieve looked at Clark as if she were actually seeing the young man for the first time. He smiled down at her and strolled off into the crowd even though he was taller than almost everyone in the place. She took another sip from her glass when she saw violet eyes glowing at her from the dark shadows. She blinked and they were gone as if they had never been there.

Genevieve shivered, “Isobel’s awake.”

88888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888

Clark took a seat at the table that his mother had reserved from him and his friends. He watched her walking around directing people to empty seats while Lois was passing out drinks. He still laughed over what he had done to her the other day with Thor’s help.

He smiled and waved Chloe over to him, “Are you singing?”

“I don’t know,” she said looking at all the people, “Lois wanted me to do something with her.”

“She can sing,” Clark asked in shock which got him a smack over the back of the head.

“I can sing Smallville,” Lois snapped while walking off.

“I swear I think she’s psychic,” he said while rubbing his head as if it hurt.

Chloe snorted and then her eyes narrowed when she saw Lex walk up to the table.

“Hi,” he said timidly from see the look of death Chloe was directing at him.

“Hey,” Clark said wondering if Jason was lost in the crowd.

“Why are you here,” Chloe asked taking a sip of her Sprite.

“It’s for a good cause,” Lex said wondering if everyone knew what he had done.

“Such up,” Chloe muttered under her breath and Clark elbowed her which made her almost choke on her drink.

“Why are you here,” a cold voice asked and Lex turned around to see Jason looking at him angrily.

“This is my establishment,” Lex said matter of fact and then smiled evilly, “Care for a drink?”

“Look you,” Jason said grabbing a fist full of his shirt getting right in his face, “I can kick back this time.”

“Oh dear,” Lex said a little sadly, “I can see you did not like my note or the pretty flowers I sent you.”

“I slammed the door in the bastard’s face,” Jason seethed about to raise his fist.

“Clark,” Jason said looking really nervous at being caught in the middle of all this, “Lex?”

“Is there a problem,” a calm voice asked and it was Count D.

“Not at all Count,” Lex said freeing himself from Jason’s grip, “Everything is well.”

“Good,” D said with a pleasant smile looking right at Clark, “Are any of you performing?”

Everyone sort of looked away from him and D smiled. Tonight was going to be so much fun.

8888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888

Jason took a seat next to Clark and crossed his arms over his chest in a huff. Clark chose to stay silent and not say anything as he watched Lex go to sit at the table with his mother and father.

“Why was he talking to you,” Jason asked and Clark looked to see that his eyes were wet.

“He came to see me last night,” Clark whispered, “He felt really bad about what he did.”

“He felt bad that he didn’t get the chance to kill me,” Jason hissed, “He would have killed me if you had not shown up.”

Clark looked at Jason’s green turtleneck he was wearing to hide the marks around his neck. He looked down at his lap, “He was scared and upset.”

“Crazy and psychotic is more like it,” Jason snapped and quickly took a deep breath counting to ten so as to not make a huge scene.

“He told me that he was not trying to kill you,” Clark told him, “Only scare you.”

“He likes you Clark,” Jason said, “And he would kill me to have you.”

“Don’t say that,” Clark snapped angrily and some people looked over at them, “He knew that would hurt me.”

“Of course,” Jason smiled, “I would be found dead in a ditch somewhere and whose shoulder would you be crying on right now?”

Clark trembled, “Can we please not do this Jason?”

Jason got to his feet and started walking off through the crowd. He was rubbing his nose to keep the tears from falling. He was such a fool to think he could be happy. Clark liked Lex and forgave him for what he almost got away with.

Chloe punched Clark in the side and told him to go after him or he would regret it later. He got up and pressed through the throng of talking people to go off after him as Count D got up on the stage with the microphone and announced that the entertainment would begin soon.

“Good evening everyone,” D said and all the people quieted to turn and look at the stunning man, “As some of you or perhaps all of you know this is a fundraiser to help stray animals.”

“So please tip those who are brave enough to get up and sing,” he said with a beautiful smile, “I’m going first so please don’t feel intimidated by my fantastic performance.”

People laughed and took their seats while clapping. Girls were running along the tables taking orders and delivering them as well. D sat down on the stool and his silk flowed to settle around his lithe frame gracefully.

Music began to play and Count D began to hum to the tune of the music. Martha and Lex were a little taken back at just how honey sweet his voice was and both looked at Jonathan who was stuffing his face with chicken wings.

Clark followed Jason out the door and onto the sidewalk. He grabbed Jason by the hand and gently pulled him into the alley where no one could see the two of them.

“What do you want from me Clark,” Jason asked with his back to him.

“I want you to turn around and talk to me,” Clark said calmly, “I know he hurt you but you have to understand why he did it.”

“I know why he did it,” Jason yelled, “He loves you and wants to keep you all to him self!”

He pulled out of Clark’s grasp and took off running out into the street to get away. He had to get away before he fell apart. Clark saw him, accepted him, and was now leaving him.

I’m standing on a bridge

I’m waiting in the dark

I though that you’d be here by now

There’s nothing but the rain

No footsteps on the ground

I’m listening but there’s no sound

Rain began to fall as he raced across the bridge in tears. He had been so stupid to think that he could heave a home with Clark. He turned and ran into a field of corn trying to run from his mother’s cruel laughter.

Isn’t anyone trying to find me?

Won’t somebody come take me home?

It’s a damn cold night

Trying to figure out this life

Won’t you take me by the hand

Take me somewhere new

I don’t know who you are

But I…I’m with you

I’m with you

He ran through the tall stalks of corn as he rain pelted his face. He didn’t have a clue what he was doing or where he was going. All his life he had been running. He was always looking for a place to call home and a loving face to greet him with each new day. Why had he fallen for Clark so quickly?

I’m looking for a place

Searching for a face

Is anybody here I know

Cause nothing’s going right

And everything’s a mess

And no one likes to be alone

He tripped over a stalk and fell to his knees in the mud. He slid around trying to get back up and fell again only to cover himself with more mud.

If only his mother could see him now. She would more than likely point and laugh at how weak he had become. She would scold and beat him for allowing a Luthot to treat a Teague in such a way. He scrambled to his feet only to slide and fall once more.

Isn’t anyone trying to find me?

Won’t somebody come take me home?

It’s a damn cold night

Trying to figure out this life

Won’t you take me by the hand

Take me somewhere new

I don’t know who you are

But I…I’m with you

I’m with you

He started to crawl out of the mud and got to his feet to take off running again. He raced along not looking at all as to where he was going and tripped into someone’s arms. He cried out in fear and slung his muddy fist only for a gentle hand to catch it. Jason looked up to see that it was Clark who had caught him. How the fuck had he gotten in front of him like that? Was he going crazy?

Oh why is everything so confusing

Maybe I’m just out of my mind

Yeah, yeah, yeah

It’s a damn cold night

Trying to figure out this life

Won’t you take me by the hand

Take me somewhere new

I don’t know who you are

But I…I’m with you

I’m with you

“How did you,” Jason tried to ask only for Clark to kiss him in mid sentence. He felt the tears falling and he closed his eyes leaning in close to Clark only to break free.

“I’m muddy you idiot,” Jason shouted, “And a little crazy right now!”

“I’m muddy to,” Clark said showing him that he was, “And we’re both crazy for being out in this storm.”

“Why did you come after me,” Jason asked trying to hide his tears.

“Because Jason,” Clark said pulling him into a tight hug as Mother Nature raged all around them, “I’m with you.”

Take me by the hand

Take me somewhere new

I don’t know who you are

But I…I’m with you

I’m with you

“You choose me over Lex,” Jason asked in shock, “I’m nothing. I have nothing.”

“You have me,” Clark said holding him tight and then let him go to hold his hand, “Let’s get out of this.”

Jason followed after him in shock. Clark did forgive Lex but that was as far as it was going to go. Lightning crackled and thunder boomed overhead and Jason never felt as safe as he did right at that moment in his entire life. How had Clark gotten in front of him fast enough to catch him? It didn’t matter. He had Clark and that was all that did matter.

The crowd could not take their eyes off the beautiful enigmatic Count D as he finished the song.

Take me by the hand

Take me somewhere new

I don’t know who you are

But I…I’m with you

I’m with you

The song came to a beautiful end and the crowd cheered as D took a graceful bow. He smiled into the audience to look for Clark only to see that he was nowhere to be found. Had he left? He was so not pleased. No, he was not pleased one little bit.

His eyes found Isobel who was conversing with Lex Luthor over a drink. He thought about it for a moment and the plan for the temple in China. With Leon in Lex’s body he would have access to funds and jets. Perfect!

The Talon had raised a total of $2016.14 for the fundraiser to help stray animals and Lex even donated another thousand jus to help it along. Now let’s see someone call PETA on him.

Count D was smiling for the picture that was being taken of him and Martha Kent along with Lex for the local newspaper and the school paper as well. It really was a shame he was going to smash all these good people to itty bitty bits.

“Cake,” Count D asked Martha and Jonathan Kent and Lex while Lex looked around for Clark.

Chloe was walking out to her car after getting bored of all the talk about Gaia and how bad Global Warming was. She recycled and that was good enough.

She was about to open her car door when someone grabbed her shoulder. She spun around with a can of pepper spray aimed ready to fire only to see a lovely well dressed woman throwing her well manicured hands up in surrender.

“Who are you,” Chloe asked not sure if she should fire away, “What do you want?”

“I apologize for frightening you Miss Sullivan,” Genevieve Teague said, “But I need your help.”

“Who are you,” Chloe asked turning the valve with a finger, “How do you know my name?”

“I’m Jason’s mother,” she said looking around paranoid, “And I must find him now.”

“He left a long while ago,” she told her, “With boyfriend hot on his heels.”

“I know,” she said, “And I must find them now.”

“Why,” Chloe asked sensing her frantic urgency.

“Please,” she said with real fear in her eyes, “I must find my son now.”

“He might be with Clark at the farmhouse,” Chloe told her, “I can give you a ride.”

“Splendid,” Genevieve exclaimed while clicking her way to the other side to get in, “I’ve never been to real farm before.”

Clark was in the kitchen making some grilled cheese sandwiches with his eyes while Jason was still in the shower. It had taken them forever to get back to the farm because they could not seem to keep their hands and mouths away from each other long enough to take two steps.

He turned around to see Jason padding barefoot down the stairs in a clean pair of Clark’s boxers and t-shirt. Jason looked good enough to eat right now, even more so than the heat vision sandwiches.

“Wow,” Jason said standing next to Clark with his arms around his shoulders, “These look yummy.”

“I know,” Clark said and turned to peck him on the cheek, “I made them.”

“Ha, ha,” Jason said picking up a perfectly golden sandwich and bit into and moaned, “These are great.”

“Told you,” Clark said while taking the skillet he pretended to use over to the sink.

“Clark,” Jason said for him to turn around and look at him, “I’m sorry.”

“For what,” Clark asked.

“For tonight,” he said, “It was stupid of me to run off in a storm like that.”

“Yeah,” Clark said with a grin, “It really was.”

“How did you,” Jason asked really looking at him, “Get in front of me so fast?”

“I was following you,” Clark told him, “And I cut you off.”

Jason nodded knowing that Clark was lying out of his fine ass. He took another bite of his sandwich and smiled, “Thank you Clark.”

“For what,” Clark asked a second time.

“For being with me,” he said with a bright smile that made Clark step forward only to stop with he heard a knock come from the door.

He walked over and opened it up to see Chloe and Mrs. Teague standing there.

“Chloe,” Clark asked wondering why in the hell the two of them were together.

“Mother,” Jason followed in confusion.

“You do have a beautiful shop Count D,” Lex said looking around while Isobel took a seat on the antique sofa, “Don’t you agree Lana?”

“Yes,” Isobel said with a fake smile, “Very beautiful.”

“Thank you,” D said while preparing some tea, “Won’t you help me over here Miss Lang?”

“Now Count,” Isobel chided, “You know its just Lana.”

“My apologies,” he said with a polite bow.

She walked over and looked back to see Lex examining one of the snake cages before handing him the vial. He took it and added it to Lex’s cup of tea smiling as it began to glow violet.

“It will work now,” Isobel whispered in his ear, “And I’ll be wanting that stone.”

“Of course,” D said with a feral grin, “Just as soon as he drinks this.”

The both of them turned around to see Lex looking at the little “babbet” creature in awe. It had to be the cutest critter he had ever seen in his life. He had to have it.

“How much,” Lex asked as Q-Chan chirped at him.

“I’m afraid,” D said with an amused smile, “That Q-Chan is not for sale Mr. Luthor.”

“How about for a million dollars,” Lex offered off the top of his head.

“Sold,” D said simply and Q-Chan fell off his perch only to flap his wings angrily at D.

“I’m kidding,” D said with a smile, “Forgive me Mr. Luthor.”

“I can go higher,” Lex said and Isobel rolled her eyes.

“I’m sorry,” the Count said tilting his head to the side so his dark hair fell over his gold eyes, “Tea?”

“Thank you,” Lex said taking the fine cup offered him.

Isobel turned her head to the side to whisper right as he swallowed, “Somno excitare.”

Lex dropped the glass to the floor where it shattered and threw his head back as thunder rumbled overhead. He fell forward and his eyes were glowing a violet hue. He looked at his hand and then up at the count and muffled in surprise, “D?”

“Leon,” D asked with tears in his eyes.

“How did I,” he asked looking around.

“The stone,” Isobel demanded and D handed the stone wrapped in silk to her.

“Go,” he said and she was gone in a flash leaving only the echoes of her evil laughter in her wake.

Leon got to his feet and was suddenly being squeezed by a crying Deity. Leon hugged him back and D looked up at him as tears spilled from those magical eyes, “I’ve been so lost without you my dear sweet Mr. Detective.”
