Chapter 6

Disclaimer: I don't own Stargate!

Back at the SGC lights were flashing. “Med team to the Gate room Stat!” came Walter’s voice over the loudspeaker.

Someone rushed into Jack’s office, “SG-1 are incoming. Dr. Black is seriously wounded.”

Jack practically flew out of the room and down the stairs, making it to the gate room just as they were bringing her down the ramp and transferring her onto the waiting gurney. “Shit child what have you done to yourself now,” he muttered putting his hand on hers. Bending down to whisper in her ear, “You’re a bad-ass in the practice ring, use it. Understood?”

Her barely perceptible nod was his answer.

Before they wheeled her away Daniel bent down and brushed his lips over here forehead, “I’ll be there when you wake up, I promise” he said not giving a damn what people saw or thought.

She squeezed his hand tightly and held on till the last second.

Jack put a hand on his chest to keep him from following, “Debriefing, I’ll make sure you are down there when she wakes up.”

Taking a breath, Daniel nodded and headed up to the briefing room.

Between the three members, of SG-1 they managed to piece together the story so Jack had a mental picture of the events.

“This ZPM is going to make a lot of homesick people very happy,” Jack said and then the tone in his voice changed, “No one was at fault here but this is the second time in the past year that Becca has gone out on a mission and come back on a stretcher. She is going to need the support of every person on this base to get through this. She’s strong; we all know that, her on-going training gave her the reflexes to keep herself from getting shot again. But, she is also young and not military so she has not gone through training to learn how to compartmentalize this. Eyes open everyone.”

The briefing took all of one hour.

Three hours later Becca was still in surgery. The procedure to set, pin, and repair the vascular damage to her leg was taking longer than expected. Suddenly her pressure dropped. The CMO’s first thought was internal injury so they got out the ultrasound while they were trying to stabilize her and discovered that she was bleeding into her abdomen. They called in a second surgical team to set up for the lapriscopical procedure.
