Chapter Six

An overwhelming sense of relief came over Greg as he headed into the apartment building. He raced up the stairs, wanting to be near Sara, to wrap himself in her presence and warmth. He wanted to forget his encounter with Kristine.

Greg stepped into the apartment and found the lights dim and soft music playing in the background. He shut the door behind him as he strode further into the living room.

His gaze fell on the soft candle glow on the dining room table. There were two places set, white wine filled one glass, while the other was filled with water.

He smiled as the event of the day finally melted away.

Movement from the corner of his eyes caught his attention. He glanced over and saw Sara coming out of the bedroom toward him. She had changed clothes and his breath caught as he stared at her. Her brown hair was pulled back from her face, pink lipstick colored her lips. A black tank top hugged her in all the right places as the tan slacks embraced her hips.

Greg was speechless for several minutes as she strode up to him, a smile on her face.

“I believe I’ve rendered you speechless,” Sara said, her eyes sparkling.

Greg smiled as he took her in his arms and kissed her. The feel of her in his arms banished the last remnants of Kristine and he gave himself completely to his desires.

She pulled back, her smiled dazzling in the candlelight. His heart beat faster as he gazed into her eyes.

“You are beautiful,” Greg whispered.

Sara smiled, a slight blush coloring her cheeks.

“I guess you’re not so speechless after all,” she whispered.

Sara led him to the dining table and he pulled the chair out for her. She thanked him as he pushed her chair in. He kissed her cheek before he sat next to her.

“It looks wonderful,” he said as he looked at the steamed vegetables and potatoes before him.

It had taken him a while to get used to eating vegetables more often than he cared to. They had compromised, because he hadn’t wanted to give up meat entirely. She agreed that lunch and eating out were the times when he could indulge his carnivorous appetite. Eating at home was her time.

He looked over at her as they ate and he couldn’t get over how beautiful she looked. They had romantic dinners before where she had dressed up nice, but tonight she looked especially lovely.

Maybe it’s because she’s pregnant, Greg thought as he took a sip of wine. Maybe it’s because she wants to marry me.

He stopped then as another thought occurred to him. They hadn’t set a date yet and he hadn’t gotten a ring. He closed his eyes and groaned.

How could I have forgotten? Greg thought as he felt Sara’s gaze on him.

“Something wrong?” Sara asked, her voice concerned.

“We haven’t set a date for the wedding,” he said. “I haven’t even gotten you a ring.”

Sara smiled and placed her hand on his.

“We’ve been busy, Greg,” she said to him. “We can go look for a ring, tomorrow.”
Greg relaxed and returned her smile. He didn’t know what he did to deserve Sara, but he was glad to have her.

After putting the dishes in the dishwasher, Sara entered the bedroom as she heard the shower turn on. She smiled as she pictured Greg taking his clothes off, his smooth skin nearly glowing in the dim bathroom lights. Her breath quickened at the image and her blood boiled within her.

She stared at the bathroom door as more images of him stepping underneath the warm spray slipped into her mind. She closed her eyes, the images becoming more vivid.

She moaned softly as her breath came in short gasps. She shook her head and strode toward the bathroom door, opening it slowly and stepping inside. She closed the door behind her as she glanced at Greg’s silhouette in the shower.

The blood burned hotter as she stared at him, her gaze roaming over his form.

I can’t take this anymore, Sara thought as she moved toward the shower, remembering to take off her clothes, leaving them piled on the floor.

She slid open the shower door and stepped inside. Greg turned as she shut the door, letting her gaze roam over him, drinking in the sight of him. She didn’t think she would ever get tired of looking at him.

Her heart pounded as his gaze darkened with desire. She ran her hands down his chest, her gaze never leaving his. She heard his intake of breath and she smiled as her hands moved lower.

“Sara,” Greg whispered, his voice thick with desire. He licked his lips as his hands clinched into fists, wanting to touch her, but letting her have her way with him.

Her arousal grew as she pressed her lips against his skin, licking the water from his chest. She smiled against him as he moaned, leaning into her touch. She licked, nipped and kissed her way down his body, stopping at his erection. She glanced up at him, his eyes closed as he tried to hold still.

Sara stood and took his mouth with hers, her hands burying themselves in his hair. She deepened the kiss as he opened his mouth to receive her tongue. She moaned into the kiss as he wrapped his arms around her, pulling her against his arousal. Even with the water pounding on them, she was burning with desire. She wanted him now.

“Greg,” she whispered, hoping he would take the hint.

He laughed softly as he gazed into her eyes. She saw his desire reflected in his dark eyes and she didn’t think she could want him more.

Greg kissed her with a passion that left her weak in the knees. She was grateful he held her against him or she would have fallen.

He walked her back against the wall of the shower, the coldness of the wall barely registering in her mind. He kissed along her throat and down her chest, taking a breast into his mouth. She arched against him, giving him more of herself. She moaned his name, her hands digging into his hair. He moved to her other breast, the sensation sending liquid fire coursing through her body. She knew she would explode if he kept this up.

He moved up her body, taking her mouth once again. She moaned into the kiss as one leg wrapped around his, bringing him closer to her. She deepened the kiss, her tongue dancing with his.

Greg broke the kiss, pulling away from her. The loss of his body against hers was brief as he turned her around to face the wall. He trailed kisses along her back, the sensation sending waves of awareness through her. Warmth flowed through her, pooling at the very center of her.

She got down on her knees, her legs spread to receive him. She bent forward, her hands flat on the wall before her as he slowly slipped inside her. She moaned, her eyes closed and her head tilted back. His hands cupped her breasts as he moved inside her, fanning the flames that had built ever since she had pictured him in the shower not five minutes ago. He moaned her name as he increased his pace. She thrust against him, matching his pace.

The water beat against them, but she barely noticed as Greg worked his magic on her body. Nothing else in the world existed except him and what he was doing to her.

His hands roamed over her body, touching the most sensitive spot on her body and sending shivers through her. She moaned his name as the tension coiled around her and built to a point where she didn’t think she could take anymore.

“Greg,” Sara moaned, pleading for him to give her the release she needed.

Greg nipped at the back of her earlobe as he pounded into her, his fingers stimulating her to near wildness. She cried out his name as the tension unraveled itself and spasms wracked her body. He thrust into her twice more before he released himself deep inside her.

They collapsed on the floor of the tub, the water spraying over them. Sara opened her eyes, blinking as the water ran into them. She moved her free hand to run through Greg’s hair, causing him to stir.

“Nice shower,” he said as he raised himself up to face her. The smile he gave her warmed her and sent tiny sparks shooting through her. She brought his lips to hers, kissing him with all the passion she felt.

“We’re going to turn into prunes if we don’t get out of the shower,” he told her after she released him.

“Right,” she said, laughter building inside her.

Greg helped her to stand as he turned off the water. He pulled down a towel and handed it to her as he stepped out of the shower. She dried herself off before she followed him.

He wrapped another towel around his waist and headed into the bedroom. She followed him, a wicked smile forming on her lips as an idea came to her.

“I’m not through with you,” she said as she dropped the towel and strode over to him.

The next evening, Greg and Sara arrived at the lab to start their shift. They greeted the secretary as they made their way toward the locker room.

Last night was still on Greg’s mind and he couldn’t stop smiling. He bet it was getting on Sara’s nerves, but he couldn’t help it. He had wondered what had gotten into her last night to join him in the shower then to initiate an erotic game by blind folding him. He had erotic dreams after that and nearly jumped her when he woke up.

He glanced at her as they strode through the hallways, wondering if she would ever want to play an erotic game again. He had some ideas himself and thinking about them caused his blood to boil.

“You better keep your mind on work today,” Sara said as they entered the locker room. “I don’t want to be accused of letting our private life affect our work.”

Greg rolled his eyes as he opened his locker and took his jacket off.

“That’ll never happen,” he said as he tossed it into the locker. “I’ll be on my best behavior. I’ll be the perfect CSI today.”

Sara laughed, stirring his blood even more. “You are too much.”

He grinned at her and she shook her head, trying not to smile in return. He had always gotten her to smile no matter her mood and it thrilled him to no end. He enjoyed being the only one who could do it.

“You love me anyway,” he said as he closed his locker, kissed her on the lips then left the room.

He made his way toward the briefing room when the secretary appeared, heading his way. He stopped about to move out of her way when she called his name. Curious, he closed the gap between them, but it turned to dread when he saw the expression on her face.

This can’t be good, Greg thought as a knot formed in his stomach.

“What is it?”

“There’s someone here to see you,” the secretary said, fear in her eyes. “I told her you’re busy, but she won’t leave. Says she has to see you.”

Anger flared within him, replacing the dread. She came here to create a scene, but he wasn’t going to let her.

“I’ll talk to her,” he said as he stalked toward the front of the building. He’ll make her go away, if he had to shove her out the door himself.

Kristine was standing by the front desk, a calm expression on her face. She smiled brightly at him when she saw him, but he didn’t return it. He wanted her out of here before he did something he would regret.

“What are you doing here?” Greg asked, not letting her get the first word in.

“I came to see you?” Kristine said, her eyes sparkling with cheer. Cheer he doubted she felt.

“I don’t want to see you,” he nearly growled. “I work here and I don’t want you to cause a scene. It wouldn’t do me any good.”

“I won’t cause a scene,” she said, the cheerfulness gone to be replaced by sulking. This change of emotion only irked him more. He clinched his hands into fists as he tried to calm himself. Getting him angry was what she wanted, but he wasn’t going to allow it.

“Then leave, Kristine,” he warned. “Or I’ll throw you out myself.”

She glared at him, but he didn’t move. He held her gaze, letting her know he meant what he said. He watched as she stood there, emotions warring within her. He almost smiled at her indecision, but he remained still.

“You can’t hide in here from me forever, Greg,” she snarled at him. “I’ll be waiting for you and you will be mine.”

“I don’t think so, Kristine.”

“We’ll see.”

She spun on her heel and stalked out of the building like a spoiled princess deprived of her favorite toy. He shook his head and turned to see Sara standing before him. He stared at her in surprise, wondering if she had heard the entire exchange.

“Are you all right?” Sara asked as she went to him.

“I’m fine,” Greg answered her, glad for her nearness. “I can handle her.”

“Like I was able to handle Daniel Harris?”

Greg stared at her, but he knew she was right. Soon Kristine will become more dangerous than she was now and he would need help. He sighed as they made their way to the briefing room.

“You’re right, but I don’t want to involve the others. She’s going to get dangerous and I don’t want anyone else hurt. Especially not you.”

“Thanks for the concern, Greg, but we should worry about you. She had her focus on you and you’ll be the one hurt if we don’t stop her.”

Kristine stared at the building she had just left, her teeth clinched tightly. How dare he make a fool of her in front of that woman!

She had seen the brunette join them, but Greg hadn’t noticed her. She had seen the look in the woman’s eyes which told Kristine to stay away, Greg was hers.

“We’ll see about that,” Kristine snarled.
