Blue Epilogue
Time passed on and they were so much in love that they barely noticed. Sara was pregnant by the end of the year. Grissom was ecstatic. He never figured he would ever have children, hell, he never figured he would be with Sara either.
One cold March Sara was out getting birthday supplies for Delaney’s birthday. She would be ten on Saturday and they were planning a big party, as she was at a milestone, it had to be special. Sara was at the Party supply store. Delaney was into Rachelle Roach. She was the new Brittany. Everything was Rachelle this and Rachelle that. Sara humoured her daughter. She had long brown hair that lay in waves; she wore it curly rather than straight, that’s how Rachelle wore her hair.
Devon would be nine in the summer; he was cut from the same grain as his father. He had a dark curly matt of hair and blue eyes. His passion was bugs. Grissom was so proud.
Sara was the most proud of their youngest, Daphne. She just seemed to happen. She was neither planned or a mistake, she just was. She was a genius. Even at five she excelled way past the others in her class, she excelled past her siblings, she was a whiz kid.
As Sara walked down the party isle she thought she noticed someone familiar. “Sofia?”
The blonde woman turned around, “Yes.”
“Sara Sidle, we worked together, do you remember me?”
“Yes.” How could I forget, you have my life. “How have you been?”
“Happy,” Sara smiled. “Gil and I have three beautiful children, what about you?”
“I have one. He is Conrad’s we were together for about two years. We would probably still be together if I hadn’t of caught him with his secretary. Once a dog, always a dog. He left his wife for me, I should have known.”
“I’m sorry.”
“It happens. I’m glad to hear you are happy. What are you doing these days?”
“I decided to go back to school to get my PHD and consult on cases. It gives me more time at home with the children. Gil runs the lab now since Conrad left. It gives him better options being a father now, he misses the field, but he says his family was worth the sacrifice.”
“I’m glad to hear. Conrad stepped out and left me high and dry without any money, I had to move back in with my parents. At forty I have to live with my parents, it is awful.”
Sara tried to hide her grin. “I want to thank you for your date with Gil all those years ago. You were the trigger that sent him running to me.” Sara walked away to finish getting the party supplies for Delaney.
The party was huge, all the kids from the lab were there, Cath and Warrick’s daughter and son who were almost identical in age to Delaney and Devon as well as Greg’s son and Nicks twins, they were all so happy.
Sara spoke up, you will never guess who I saw today.”
“Who?” They all asked.
“Sofia, I thanked her for being the trigger to the happiness which I have right now.”
