part 6

Part 6/?

It was almost fifteen minutes later before Scully finally appeared. She was pale, and it looked like she was in shock.

"What happened?" I asked immediately.

Instead of replying, she turned to Krycek, "What journal?"

Krycek stared at her as if she were nuts. The only journal I knew about was... "Lexi kept a journal; it was a leather-bound book. He said it was a letter to his sister. He wrote his experiences and thoughts in it. He kept it under the mattress in the room. How do you know about it?"

Scully mumbled something unintelligible.

"What?"

"When you left, two... I don't know, *spirits* appeared. They said you needed to find the journal and defeat the threat or the world would be lost," Scully blushed scarlet as she spoke.

"Spirits?" I repeated. "What did they look like?"

"You!" she acknowledged. "They looked just like you two, only your look-a-like had a very raspy voice," she explained.

"Wow." I wondered why they told her this, instead of us directly.

"What threat?" Frohike wondered.

"It's not like they went into detail about it," Scully snapped.

"Well, let's go back and see if it's under the mattress," Langley suggested.

"No!" Krycek spoke for the first time since we got on the boat. "We're not going back on that ship." The odd looks from the others had him adding, “Who knows if we would get off again?"

He did have a point, so I didn't argue.

All four of them looked at me in surprise, but Scully just sort of shrugged and nodded at Byers to start the motor.

Krycek and I sat together on the bunk, and I found myself enjoying the coziness of it. I dared to put my hand on his leg in a possessive gesture, and was pleased when Krycek didn't argue or pull away. I-- my look-a-like that is, had *owned* this man for a short period of time. Just the thought of *owning* Krycek was starting to turn me on. To distract myself, I began telling them about some of my adventures from the last two weeks.
