ch 54

Sara and Grissom got ready to go out and shop for appropriate clothes. Stepping into the living room on their way out the door they were bombarded with more questions.

“So who is coming to this?”

“Let me see,” Grissom began. “Al and his wife, Catherine and Lindsay, Warrick, Nick, Greg, Jim.” He turned to Sara. “Sara are we missing anyone?”

“No I don’t think so.”

“Alright, that’s it.”

“Good, children, have fun.”

As soon as Grissom and Sara were out of earshot they began to lay out the plans for their wedding.

“We will have to book a Priest.” Victoria began. “When do we want to have this?”

“Christmas eve?”

“Oh that would be nice. We will have to give strict orders to Gil to make sure they all have the time off. We will need to do invitations too.”

“We can call it a Christmas party, ask them to bring a secret Santa gift.”

“Oh, that will throw them off. Gil isn’t exactly Mr Social.”

“They will be surprised at first and even more surprised after the fact.”

“Alright so Gil needs to book the time off, he also needs to buy rings.”

“Yes, that’s right.”

“We need a meal, suggestions?”

“I think it should be a full meal with appetizers, salad, main course and dessert.”

“Sounds good, no complaints here.”

“Let me see, decorations will be simple too, we can just decorate for Christmas and take pictures in front of the tree.”

“Wow, good idea.”

“So any other things to discuss?”

“Just the food. We have how many coming?”

“Eight guests plus Sara and Gil and you and I.”

“So twelve.”

“Yes.”

“So finger food first.”

“Yup.”

“Then the ceremony, and the announcement.”

“So far so good.”

“Then we will have salad followed by the meal.”

“What type of Salad?”

“Spinach, would that be okay?”

“Yes, and for main course?”

“I was thinking turkey dinner.”

“Yup sure sounds good so far.”

“For dessert we can have cake and then open the gifts.”

“Wow, that was easy.”

“You are telling me.”

Sara stood before the racks at the store. “What a I am going to pick. I’m so fat.”

“Sara, sweetie, you could wear a paper sack and I wouldn’t care.”

“You are too good to me.”

“Sara, come on, find something.”

“I’m looking, what is our theme?”

“I don’t know, I am thinking Christmas.”

“So what does that leave us, red, green and white.”

“I guess, yes.”

“Well white is out of the question. I refuse to wear green. Can we find me a red dress?”

“You want to get married in a red dress?”

“Sure, why not. We are unconventional after all.”

“Here is one.” Grissom said picking up a red dress.

“That is sweet is it in my size?”

“What size is that?”

“Fat.”

“Sara.”

“What?”

“They have plenty, why don’t you try some on?”

“Alright.”

The dress was simple but elegant. It was scarlet red and straight to the floor. It had an empire waist to hide her little belly well. It had rhinestones across the breast line as well as the neckline. It criss-crossed in the back instead of zipping.

Sara tried it on and came out of the room.

“What do you think?”

“I think it is perfect. We need it.”

“We do?”

“Oh yeah, can you wear it home?”

“Griss, your mom is there and so is Mara.”

“Your point?”

“Get your mind out of there.”

“Alright, we have you an outfit, I need one now.”

“I need shoes, flats for sure heels will kill my back.”

Sara settled on a pair with a slight heel and strapped across the ankle.

They needed an outfit for Grissom. He eventually found a double-breasted suit with a red cummerbund and bowtie.

They headed home.

“So what did you guys get?”

“It’s a surprise.” Grissom shot back.
