Chapter 5

Meanwhile, back in the Power Chamber, Billy sat on the floor and ran a hand over his face. He had been faced with things far before he was ready, and knew that he should have taken into account that some other Ranger would discover his presence. He was glad, however, that it had been another Blue, and that it had been Justin.

Had it been one of his old friends, well, he certainly couldn’t have handled that kind of emotional scene right then. Suddenly, he grimaced as a pain cramped his abdomen, and a small gasp escaped him as he bent over. He stretched back, rubbed his stomach and abdomen, and reached into his backpack. He pulled out a silver packet, opened it, and dumped the contents into his mouth. Slowly, he swallowed, and ran a hand over his forehead as the pain receded.

“This may be harder than I thought, Zordon,” he said as he aimed his wrist device at a small panel directly under the mirror, and revealed the necklace. “I’m glad I installed that intruder detector before anything else,” he crossed his legs, once more settling into a meditative pose.

“Alpha, come online,” he said to the air, and nodded as lights brightened. “Continue repairs throughout the night, and alert me when Justin gets back in the morning.”

“Will do, Billy! And it’s SO good to have you back . . . and to be back myself, even if I don’t have a body yet!” The screechy, still disembodied voice said, and Billy smiled.

“First things first, Alpha. Power Chamber and the new Zords first, then the Command Center. after that, we’ll get you to a body, I promise.”

“that’s good enough for me, Billy,” alpha said, and Billy nodded.

“Thanks. I’m going to get some rest. However, if there’s a problem, let me know. I don’t anticipate one, but just in case . . .’

“Ay-yi-yi, Billy. I’ll let you know! Get some rest. You need it.”

With that, Billy inhaled deeply, wrapped his cape around him, stretched his arms over his head, and brought them down as he exhaled. He closed his eyes, and slipped easily into a meditative trance. The lights dimmed, and repairs continued, as ordered, throughout the night.
