The DISCUSSION
"Thank you for inviting us over Mrs. Puckerman," Finn's mother said as we all sat down at the hardly ever used dining room table for dinner and the DISCUSSION.
"Well we all know what's going to happen in three and a half months," she continued as my mom served us the food she'd made earlier.
"The baby," my mom said happily.
"Yes," she sighed, "the baby… We all have a lot to talk about…"
The adults started prattling on about this and that whatever and I completely zoned out. I could tell Finn wasn't in it too; he was texting underneath the table. Texting whom I didn’t have a clue.
This went on for an hour, the 'rents blabbing on and on… Apparently Finn's family had bought stuff for a nursery and was setting it up in his big sister's old room, and that Finn and the baby would be living at their house indefinitely. I could see that mom wasn't the happiest she could have been with this arrangement but she readily agreed. She didn't want to push them away after all… Oh well, I could have cared less though, like I wanted to hear some kid screaming at three in the morning when I would be trying to sleep…
After a while Finn sighed and sat up, catching everyone's attention and interrupting the conversation. "I'm gonna go get some air or something," he said getting up from the table and walking away.
I stayed behind for about a second before popping up and chasing after him. He wasn't leaving me with those women!
"Finn, dude wait up!" I cried.
I didn't need to say this though because he stopped in the kitchen in front to the basement door.
He growled. "I HATE this!"
"What?" I asked.
"I hate this!" he repeated. "This dinner is so awkward! I mean can you believe this Puck?! You didn't even have a say! She’s being so unfair I could-!" Suddenly he gasped and put his hands on his belly.
"What?" I asked alarmed.
He groaned and I was two seconds away from calling my mom in there when he leaned on the basement door and held his stomach tightly.
"Are you all right?" I asked nervously.
"I'm fine," he sighed.
"Is it…"
"I'm fine," he said sadly. "We're fine…"
I moved over to his side and placed a hand on his back. I started to rub. This was one of the only times since he'd told me about the baby that our bodies had been that close. Even when we snuggled in my bed I had touched him as little as possible.
"Well if your son didn't screw everything and anything that walked by him, he wouldn't have don't this to Finn!"
"Is that my mother?" he asked quietly with his eyes closed.
"Yeah…" I muttered. He groaned. "You… wanna get outta here?"
"Yeah…" he sighed.
Finn grabbed his jacket, and I grabbed my keys, and together we snuck out my front door.
