How Do You Sleep?

~~~~~~~~~~
Hogan walked out of his quarters. Carmel's empty bunk was the first thing he noticed. His heart skipped. He knew she was in Klink's office.
"Where's Gregg at?" Hogan asked.
"Klink's office... She seemed pretty upset." LeBeau said.
Hogan walked out of the barracks and into Klink's office.
When he opened the door, he was greeted by Klink and Carmel kissing.
"Colonel Hogan!" Carmel broke the kiss.
Her eyes were wide with shock and fear. Hogan didn't want to see Carmel and Klink kissing. He knew that their relationship wouldn't even make it. But he also knew that there was something there. He noticed the tenderness between the two.
He looked from one to the other. Tears welled up in Carmel's eyes. Hogan knew she was feeling way too many emotions.
"Private, come on." Hogan said.
"Yes, sir." Carmel hung her head and followed Hogan.
Carmel never looked up. She watched Hogan's feet as they walked. Carmel knew the worst was yet to come.
In the barracks, the Heroes looked up when Hogan and Carmel entered. They sensed a lot of tension between the two. The pair had never swapped words and they always had been on good terms.
"What happened?" Kinch asked.
"Well, I found our little girl here kissing a German colonel." Hogan said, heatedly. The Heroes looked at Carmel. She had yet to look up.
"Why did you do it, Carmel?" Carter asked.
"Yeah. Why did you do it?" LeBeau snapped.
"I love him." Carmel said, finally looking up. "He's not like the other German's. He's respectful."
"You could get court martialed!" Newkirk said.
"I will do anything for love." Carmel said.
"Even get shot for being percieved as a traitor?" Hogan asked.
"Yes, sir. He's the first man in a long time to make me feel like a woman. I've always been treated like one of the guys." Carmel said.
"Fine... If you want your German colonel, go and get him. Just don't come crying to us when our side thinks that you're a traitor and you're being tried as such." Hogan told her. Carmel turned and took a couple of steps.
"Just answer me one question though." Hogan said. Carmel stopped. She turned around and looked her commanding officer in the eyes.
"What's that, sir?" Carmel asked.
"Tell me how do you sleep knowing you're in love with the enemy." Hogan said.
"Easily." Carmel told him. Carmel turned and walked out of the door.
"I think that she genuinely loves Colonel Klink and that he loves her." Carter said. They all looked at him.
"She's eighteen. What does she know about love?" LeBeau asked.
"Carmel's smart enough to know love when she feels it." Carter said.
"Okay... how do you figure that Carmel and Klink actually love each other?" Kinch asked.
"You mean to tell me the lot of you haven't noticed how those two look at each other during roll call, when they pass each other or when they speak to each other?" Newkirk spoke up.
"You've got a point." LeBeau said.
