A/N: Here is the continuation for the first fic. Hope you enjoy! This is for the 20 dates challenge.
Summary: Ryan sees that his lover is tired of knocking Eric down for being an ass. So he plans a picnic with the help of Alexx.
Picnic
Blanket; check. Bathing suits and towels; check. Finger foods; check. Wine; check. Glasses; check. Tim.... Where did he go?
“Tim where are you?” Ryan called out from the kitchen. “I have a surprise for you!”
A pair of arms pulled him to a warm bare chest and Ryan let out a soft laugh. Turning in the strong arms of his lover, Ryan gave Tim a soft kiss.
“Get dressed love; I have a treat for you.” Giving Tim a Soft smile Ryan went back to the kitchen and checked everything one last time before going towards the door.
Tim was even more stressed now that Eric knew that Ryan was dating his now ex-best friend. The Cuban would do what he could to make both men miserable, but it was hurting Tim more since he thought that Eric wasn’t so petty. Ryan went to Alexx for a tip to cheer up his lover and she suggested a picnic. Perking up at the thought of spending a day in the sun with his lover on a secluded beach made Ryan’s day.
Seeing Tim walking towards him in his favourite t-shirt and shorts, Ryan drove them to their beach. Tim smiled at the basket that Ryan pulled out and followed his lover down to the sandy ground. Tim knew that Ryan saw that he was hurting and once again he was glad that the younger man was in his life. He only wished that Eric would see that they were happy, and that Ryan really was an asset to the team.
As the pair set up their picnic, Alexx was forcing Eric to watch the pair and think about his attitude.
Ryan pulled out the finder foods and Tim couldn’t help but chuckle. All of Tim’s favourites were there. Strawberries, cocktail wieners, cheeses, crackers, carrots, olives and mini pizzas were all pulled from the basket that Ryan brought out of the car. Leaning over to give his lover a kiss, Tim was secretly pleased that he could still make his lover blush.
As the pair fed each other the food, Eric finally began to understand what made Ryan so special. While he was thrown into a difficult time, he still tried to do his best. Even if he was ridiculed, Ryan did all he could to make sure the victims got the justice that they deserved. As he looked at how Tim made sure that Ryan was treated with respect, he wondered why it had bothered him so much. He continued to watch the lovers to figure it out.
Oblivious to the peeping tom, Ryan and Speed changed into bathing gear and decided to go for a small dip in the ocean. Both were wary of water for different reasons, but kept close to land for self preservation. As they played in the water, the stress of the past few weeks began to leave Tim’s frame and Ryan smiled at how much younger his lover looked when he didn’t have so many problems.
Drying off, Ryan curled up to Tim as they shared the bottle of wine. The date went perfectly, in Ryan’s book. They were both happy, relaxed and was that Eric making his way towards them?
Eric saw Ryan tense alerting Tim to his presence. Standing by Tim and Ryan, Eric saw how Tim tried to shield Ryan from him, and he mentally winced at the damage he had caused.
“I’ve come to apologize to both of you.” Eric bit his lip unsure how to begin, and decided to dive in. “I was a jerk to Ryan when he first join because I feared for your job Speed. I thought that he had just come in to take your place even though you were coming back. I’m not round of what I did to you in that time Ryan, but I’ve only just realized how cruel I was.
“When you came back Speed, I thought that Ryan would leave. But you got H to keep him on and that confused me. Then you came and berated all of us for how we treated Ryan and I just felt a bit betrayed. Here was my best friend defending the guy that was to take your place. So I kept attacking Ryan in secret and then I found out that both of you were dating.
“While I knew that you were gay Speed, I never realized how betrayed I felt that you would date the one person who I was afraid of. Yes Wolfe, I was scared of you. You could have ruined my career but chose to hold on out. I was terrified that you would turn around one day and start black mailing me. Irrational, I know, but I had just found out that my best friend was dating you and already confused.
“Now this doesn’t excuse what I’ve been doing to both of you in these past few weeks. I’ve been given an ultimatum from Alexx, and if I don’t behave and shape up, she’ll be going to make a formal complaint, knowing that both of you wouldn’t do that. So after looking at what I’ve been doing for the past little while, I didn’t like what I was doing and I could see that you honestly both care about each other. So, I’ve come to apologize and try to make it up to both of you.”
Ryan and Tim looked at each other, and both gave Eric a small smile. “We forgive you Eric, but if you act like this again, I’m letting Callie and Alexx have at you.” Tim was smiling, but all three knew the honesty in that statement.
Eric let out a sigh of relief and promised to do whatever it took to fix what he did wrong. As he left the pair of lovers, Ryan turned to Tim and gave him a soft kiss. “Ready to go home yet love?”
Kissing his lover back, Tim began to pack the remains of their picnic and brought the basket up to where they parked. As they drove off, Alexx and Horatio were talking with Eric as he tried to repair the damage he had caused while he was off his game.
