Wrinkling his nose Spike looked around the room, a real rat hole, piece of crap, a dump. One of the worst looking holes he had ever had to hide in. Spike turned to Xander and smirked. “I have to say this is a step up from your apartment whelp, but what we doing here?”

Holding his churning belly Xander scowled. “Have you forgotten the scoobs, unknown demons, and strong ass’d witches are after us?”

Plopping down on the couch Spike made himself comfortable, even ignored the spring poking into his leg, had to look calm and unaffected for the whelp. “After you, you, not me love. They want something from you.”

Sitting down by Spike he sighed then ran his hands through his dark hair. “I know. I don’t understand, why me? Why not Buffy she’s the slayer! Or Willow she IS the super witch of the hellmouth or used to be! Even Giles! He’s a watcher and probably has a shit load of enemies! Me I get the donuts! Why are they after me?” Xander said with a tired voice.

“Maybe a delivery boy with a grudge against your wonderful food delivery skills?” Spike teased but then sobered at Xander’s stricken worried look. “Maybe they think your someone else love? This Phoenix bloke?”

Xander nodded and let himself sink into his seat. “Why do bad things keep happening to me? Magic and now this?!”

“Hellmouth luv, hellmouth.”

“Yeah . . .”

“Piper . . . pacing doesn’t help. You’re only getting yourself wound up.” Said Leo as he hugged his wife from behind.

“I can’t help it, Leo!! My little brother to whom I knew nothing about before is out in the world being hunted by demons and warlocks! He’s scared and has powerful magic he can’t fully control! He needs us! Prue would never have let this happen!”

“Piper . . .” Leo gave her a pained look. “Sweetheart . . .”

“Don’t sweetheart me mister! You know I’m right! I’m not good at being the oldest even after all this time.” Piper said feeling real bad about herself. She hated failing her family.

“You don’t know if Prue would have done better Piper! She would have been just as worried as you are now!”

Piper scowled she want to blow up something . . . maybe even her husband. “She wouldn’t have forgotten a finding crystal and map of the town. I just forgot everything but finding Phoenix.” She mumbled.

“Us too! Remember us, your sisters? We forgot too! It’s ok Piper, were worried about Phoenix too.” Phoebe said a worried frown on her face.

Paige sighed and ran her hands through her short curly red dyed hair. “What a mess.”

The sisters nodded.

Piper sighed loud and long. “I’ll go scury for him again maybe I’ll have more luck now.”

Leo nodded. “Alright Piper. I’ll go to the Elders see if they heard or found anything yet.” With that said Leo disappeared in a cloud of blue light.

Spike watched Xander pace. He had been watching the whelp walk back and forth for the past two hours and he was getting tired of it, really tired of it. “Sit down whelp, take a nap or something! Just stop the pacing! Not helping you any, you daft git!”

Xander glared. “Can’t help it.”

“Course you can! Just sit your bloody rump down and stay! Sit!” Spike said as he pointed at the twin-sized bed in the room, pointed at it like an owner would for their dog.

Xander’s mouth tightened and the urge to fling Spike against a wall a tempting and therapeutic thought. “Not a pet puppy you can order around! I can pace if I want too!”

Spike raised a brow. “Fine! Go ahead and pace like a cornered animal . . . me I’m going to hit the bars. Have me a beer and maybe a shag while I’m at it!” With that said Spike marched to and out the door before Xander could say anything.

“Jerk!” Xander yelled after Spike as he plopped himself down on his bed. In his crappy room Xander sat quietly just staring at the walls, hoping answers would fall into his lap, hoping Spike would be back soon. He didn’t really want to be alone.

*Hisssssss* “What do you mean ‘We lost him’?”

“He is powerful m-my master! Killed a third of my clan like child’s play! A-and his sister witches showed up there! We are no match for the Charmed Ones!” Said the leader of what looked to be a gang of street thugs. A gang of green blooded street thugs covered in bruised and soot.

The master sitting on the throne laughed. “My sweet bird did this to you Flarcone?”

Flarcone nodded.

“I thought your kin had strength? Wookn`huk demons? You claimed you could handle my witch and his friends?” The figure on the throne sneered and his blue eyes started to glow red.

Flarcone’s green eyes widened like baseballs, and slit like a cats, then went back to the shape of a humans. “We tried. We preformed our part in your deal! Free us from our binds and give us the rewards promised!”

The man on the throne nodded and sat back in a relaxed pose. “I suppose it is only fair . . . I did agree . . . What was the deal again?”

Flarcone frowned, face shimmering with sweat and turning green, almost frog like. “Women. You promised us women and money if we served!”

“So I did.” Snapping his fingers the man on the throne smiled a nasty smile when eight beautiful women walked into the throne room. “Ladies . . . meat your men!” And he really did mean meat.

The man on the throne laughed long and loud at the sound of pained male screams, delighted female moans, and the wet sound of flesh ripping. Like music to his ears. No one failed a task for him and lived to see the next sunrise.

“Belladonna . . .” The man on the throne called out to one of the woman making a gluten out of herself on demon meat. The lead woman’s head snapped up, her once lovely face deformed and her eyes as black as crude oil. She yawned and her mouth opened at a ninety degree angle showing off long teeth the size and length of a human finger.

“Yes my lord . . .”She growled in a low and deep voice like a man’s only so much deeper it was unnatural. She stood and face shifted, the wrinkles smoothed out and her teeth disappeared behind her perfect red lips. Wiping green blood off her chin Bella gave her master a cute questioning pout.

“Step forward Bella.” The man on the throne motioned with his hand.

“Is there something you need my lord? Another you would like us to eat?” Her black eyes gleamed with unquenchable hunger and lust. Her voice was now sweet and soft, hypnotic like a sirens call.

“No, no one for you to eat at the moment . . . I wish for you and your hags to find my little bird and bring him to me.”

“As you wish . . .” Belladonna bowed and skipped out of the throne room, the other women following close behind.

“Wookn`huk demons.” Said Paige as she tapped on the page in the book. “Wookn`huk demons are high level demons known for their ability to blend in with human and numbers. They are clan demons . . . all male. They have to steal or buy females to breed with, they can’t breed with their own species since their females dies out hundreds of years ago . . . Other demons were worried about the large number they can have in one clutch. Use to be powerful demons in the underworld but now they are contract killers. Dismemberment is the only way to kill them. The head, heart, arms, legs, and stomach must be separated for it to die. Simple! Piper can blow them up.”

“Who hired them then?” Piper wondered aloud. That was the question she wanted answered. ‘The demons could be easily dealt with, but the unknowns person or persons that hired them could be a big problem. What if it’s the Source himself?!’

Suddenly Leo orbed in. “I have news.”

“WHAT?” The sisters said at once.

Leo took a step back, the glares he was getting quite intimidating. “The Elder’s told me Phoenix is here in San Francisco. They said they tracked his air-shift to the edge of the city in the slums but lost him soon after. He’s blocking.”

“Then lets head down town. I want my brother safe.” Said Piper a determined frown on her face.

Standing in the middle of the dark street Belladonna grinned, she loved the hunt almost as much as she loved to feed. Using her sharp nails she ripped a chuck of her own flesh out of her shoulder. Tossing it to the ground Belladonna watched it bubble, churn, and finally take shape. Three large winged insects stood on eight legs each, a dozen rube red eyes looked up at the demon waiting for orders. Picking up one Belladonna showed it a recent picture of Phoenix. “Find him and tell me where he is, who he’s with, and any powers you see him use. Do not harm him, use sleep sting if he tries to leave before I get there. Kill anyone who gets in your way. Go.”

With the speed of a bullet the bugs zipped off into the night.
