Chapter Four

Count D was kneeling in front of the elaborate altar he had dedicated to Leon. His picture was framed in solid gold and flowering vines were growing all around it as sweet smelling incense burned before it. He would come and sit here for hours seeing that terrible event play out in his memory over and over. This hatred, this wrath would fuel the “Terra Bomb” and it would cover the earth with a primeval forest only the imagination of a God could fathom. The seeds of his wrath would fill the air and cover the world.

In a hiss of silk and a flutter of leaves he was walking through a forest that was growing deep inside the endless rooms of his shop. It was here where he kept Leon’s little brother, Chris. The child was born filled with the spirit of innocence and D would not allow him to suffer life’s cruelties. He had not the heart to tell Chris that his big brother was dead.

As he walked he got lost in his memories as he so often did now. He held the corpse of his love in his arms as razor sharp vines flowed from his body to grab a hold of every human in the room tearing, ripping, and squeezing the life from them. His cries were that of a wounded beast as blood rained down upon him. The screams of the dying vermin only fueled his bloodlust. He had to have more. His razor sharp talons dug into their flesh and ripped their torsos open as his vines threw them across the room to squeeze and drain the blood from them with the sharp thorns. He did not stop killing until there was nothing left to kill. Their puny Christian god did not hear their meaningless prayers.

He stood there in the middle of all the blood and carnage laughing like the blood soaked God that he was. His laughter soon turned to tears and he fell to his knees screaming in agony. He pounded his fists against the floor until it was all cracked and broken.

He had frozen. Why had he frozen? If he had not frozen, Leon would still be alive and that made him scream even louder.

He was hurt. He was wounded. It would never heal. He was alone. There were so many thoughts and too much pain.

He looked down at Leon’s body and shook even harder. He would never see Leon smile, hear him laugh, feel his arms around him ever again. He would never hear Leon say, “Love you to Count.”

The humans had to pay. They all had to pay. If he had to suffer then they would suffer right along with him. His Father would be happy now, for he had nothing holding him back from destroying them all.

D lifted Leon’s body up into his arms and left the warehouse. In waves and distortions of time and space he was in a night garden that was more beautiful than any mortal creature could ever imagine. He gently laid Leon down and held his hand as he knelt beside him crying.

“Oh, such pain,” a familiar voice said in deep sorrow.

“Grandfather,” D choked in pain, “It hurts.”

“I know it does child,” he said softer than a bubbling spring, “Losing that which we love does and will always hurt.”

“Why,” D trembled.

“Because we are not mortal,” The elder D said, “Pain haunts us forever.”

“I love him,” D cried unable to use the past tense, “I love him too much to allow this to happen!”

“I am sorry my child,” his Grandfather said sorrowfully, “It is not in our power to bring back the dead.”

The elder D knelt behind his Grandson and put his big hands on his shoulders, “Pain is your strength.”

D trembled in his Grandfather’s hands and gently kissed Leon’s pale hand that was once golden and filled with life, “I love you.”

The elder D blew gently and Leon’s body began to sink into the earth as if the ground was water. D turned and cried against his Grandfather’s broad chest, “They have to pay!”

“Then make them,” he said holding his Grandson tight, “Make them feel your pain.”

He had no idea what he was going to tell Chris. His little innocent had been through so much in his short life. D closed his eyes and he knew what he was going to do.

D opened his eyes and found that he had wondered to where Chris was. He smiled at how peaceful Chris looked and that he was smiling in his dreams as he looked inside the amber.

He had given Chris a very ancient and powerful potion that would keep him locked in happy dreams where they all could be together in happiness. He looked down to also see Pon-Chan and T-Chan asleep curled up next to Chris asleep on either side, guarding him for all time. As long as they were in this amber shell, time and sorrow could not touch them.

The great three headed dragon stepped out of the shadows in the form of a little girl, “Let us help smite the humans who make you suffer so.”

“Soon,” D whispered while smiling lovingly down at Chris, “Soon we will all be happy again.”

“Morning sweetheart,” Martha said while putting eggs on Clark’s plate, “Did you sleep well?”

“Yeah,” Clark said with a yawn even though he did not feel one bit tired, “Thor woke me up thinking that my face needed a good licking.”

Martha laughed, “Did you have fun with your friends last night?”

Clark thought back to him and Jason at the lake last night, “Yeah, we did.”

Jonathan came down the stairs walking up to the table to sit down, “Morning all.”

“Morning dad,” Clark said and Martha handed him a plate so he could load it up with yummy goodness.

“Where’s Lois,” Clark whispered.

“Still in the bed,” Martha said, “The girl sleeps till noon.”

Clark giggled madly and Jonathan raised a brow as he watched his son tip toe to the door letting Thor in, “Go get her boy!”

Thor barked and took off like a bullet up the stairs and Clark took a sip of his orange juice as Lois screamed at the top of her lungs, “SMALLVILLE!”

Both Jonathan and Martha turned from the stairs to look at Clark who was howling with laughter.

“Now if I was Lana,” Isobel snickered while looking around the apartment, “Where would I stash the box of black magic?”

She had looked all through Lana’s closets and could not find a damn thing. Surely the girl had not thrown the stuff out. Some of that shit had been damn expensive and she stole it fair and square. She rolled her eyes and then snapped her fingers for the bed to move for her.

A dark smile graced her face as she saw a box there just begging to be opened. She got to her knees and quickly pulled the tape off to discover that it contained nothing but stuff animals.

“Fuck,” she cried tossing the box of stuffed pests across the room, “Where the fuck is it?”

She got to her feet again and started to dig through the kitchen cabinets to discover absolutely nothing. Now she was really starting to get pissed. She leaned back against the counter and started to think. The girl would not have thrown it all away. The memory was not there because she had taken over too quickly.

She took a deep breath in order to calm herself down before something caught fire. That was when she decided to check the closet in the bathroom. She did not know why she had not checked it before.

She quickly walked in and opened the door. She looked down and there was a box and she quickly opened it to smile evilly. All of the things she had used once before were in it, even the lists for certain potions as well.

She carried the box into the kitchen and set it on the bar. The clock alarm suddenly went off and she quickly left for school.

There was a penguin in the bathtub and Lex just stood wondering what it would taste like grilled. He was about to walk over and throw the damn bird out the window when Lionel walked in with some toys.

“Dad,” Lex said trying to have patience, “What is “he” doing in here?”

“Bathing,” Lionel said matter of fact.

“I can see that,” Lex said holding back his wrath, “There are seven other baths in the castle, why this one?”

“Because,” Lionel said gently splashing Herbert with a toy shark that spit water out of its mouth, “This one is the biggest.”

“Of course,” Lex said walking out as his father laughed. That damn bird was going to have to go. Maybe he would buy a very large cat?

Chloe was really starting to get upset. Clark had been walking around all day with a big smile on his goofy face and she wanted to know why.

She peeked around the corner to see him closing his locker door and turn around to lean back against it smiling off into space like an idiot. He looked as if he was waiting for someone and didn’t know how to go about doing it coolly. Who in the hell could he be waiting for?

He started to walk off and she quickly followed him. Something fishy was going and she was going to find out what. Clark was keeping secrets again and she would not stand for it.

She quickly followed him into the pool area and watched him walk to the other end to sit on the bleachers. She stood there in confusion only to feel a hand grab her shoulder.

She almost screamed and quickly put her hand over her mouth to muffle it. She spun around to see Lex grinning at her like he had just eaten the canary.

“Why are you here,” she whispered trying to calm her racing heart.

“School fund donation,” he told her and then asked in confusion, “Why are we whispering?”

Chloe turned back around to peek around the bleachers to see that Clark was not there. Where in the hell did he go? Did she lose him?

“Damn,” she hissed and quickly tip toed away from Lex down the isle of bleachers for him to follow her.

“What are we doing,” he asked feeling like a student who was about to get into trouble.

Chloe stopped dead in her tracks when she heard a soft moan. She peeked around the corner to see in shock that Jason had Clark pressed up against the wall with his tongue down his throat, and Clark looked to be enjoying the invasion.

She let out a silent gasp of surprise and quickly turned back around to stop Lex and asked him rather loudly, “Why are you here again?”

“We’re not whispering now,” Lex asked in surprise, “I told you it was a school donation.”

“Oh,” she said and then asked, “How much?”

“Enough,” he said walking around her to see what she had gasped at.

“Oh sweet Jesus,” Chloe hissed and grabbed her side, “I think I’m going to be sick.”

Lex stopped to look at her in alarm, “What’s wrong?”

“It’s my side,” she moaned rather loudly in fake pain, “You don’t think my appendix exploded do you?”

“I think you would be on the ground screaming if that happened,” Lex said letting her lean against him for support, “Let’s go see the nurse.”

Chloe had never seen Clark look so angry in the time she had known him. Well, there was that one time he went mad and moved to Metropolis. That had been way scarier.

“You followed me,” Clark hissed in anger, “How, why did you follow me?”

“You have been acting funny all day,” she said and then started listing off his symptoms, “All dreamy eyed, smiling into space at odd moments, running into walls that aren’t even there.”

“So,” he said throwing his arms around like a windmill to show her just how mad he was.

“You don’t do that,” Chloe told him, “I thought you might have been under the influence of a meteor freak.”

That stopped her and she narrowed her eyes, “Is Jason a meteor freak?”

“Of course not,” Clark fumed throwing his arms around even faster.

“I’m sorry I followed you,” she apologized, “But I had to make sure.”

That calmed him down some, but he would have died if Lex had found out about him and Jason. Clark loved Lex and did not want to put their friendship in jeopardy. He would tell Lex that he was gay when the time was right.

“I’m sorry Chloe,” he said taking a seat next to her, “I should have been more careful.”

“Its okay,” she smiled warmly, “I won’t tell a soul.”

“Thanks Chloe,” he told her while squeezing her shoulder gently, “I’ll tell Lex when I’m ready.”

Chloe smiled and the two of them hugged each other not even seeing the violet eyes glowing madly in the shadows.

Isobel walked away from the Torch smiling evilly that really unnerved several students who were walking by. She made her way into the girl’s restroom and locked the doors with a hiss while making an “out of order” sign appear on the outside of the door. It was time to cause some chaos.

999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999

Jason sat in his office chair to afraid to move. Lex fucking Luthor had almost caught him and Clark had Chloe not been loud enough to warn them. The two of them had taken off running down the hall as if a wild dog was on their tails.

He had physically thrown Clark in here and locked the door swiftly behind them. He heart must have been racing a thousand miles an hour. Clark had just sat there in the floor where he tripped looking up at him in amusement.

A knock suddenly came at the door making him jump yelping, “Come in.”

His heart slowed down when he say that it was Clark. He closed the door and smiled warmly at him.

“Everything is cool,” Clark said, “Chloe knows how to keep secrets.”

“If it was not for me needing this job Clark,” Jason said, “I would not care who knew.”

Clark smiled brightly, “Really?”

“Of course,” Jason said and then thought, “My mother would kill me if I lost this job.”

“I will have to tell Lex,” Clark said taking a seat, “I don’t want him finding out from someone else other than me.”

“When,” Jason asked.

“When I’m ready,” Clark said timidly, “His friendship means a lot to me.”

“Lex Luthor is not a nice man Clark,” Jason whispered softly, “I know from experience.”

“He would never hurt me,” Clark said sticking up for Lex, “He’s one of my best friends.”

“Caesar and Brutus, Clark,” Jason said, “Jesus and Judas.”

Clark hid his frown because throughout history the best of friends betrayed and killed each other. Clark had an enemy in the Kawatche Legend. That dagger had turned to dust when both Lex and Lionel touched it at the exact same time.

“I trust him,” Clark said and then thought, “He said that his doors were always open to me.”

Jason nodded, “Do you want me to be there when you tell him?”

Clark smiled, “You would do that?”

“Of course,” Jason said leaning back in his nice teacher chair, “I only ran because you did.”

“Oh really,” Clark said with a raised brow, “I distinctly remember you throwing me in here and locking the door. You even closed the blinds.”

“That was instinct,” Jason said in defense, “That’s my lie and I’m sticking to it.”

“My savior,” Clark snorted in amusement.

Isobel did not like the Luthor mansion. It was probably because she could not stand the people who lived in it. They were greedy little men just like the ones that burned her and her friends at the stake those many centuries ago. She was really going to enjoy watching them all suffer. That was until she was completely caught off guard by a penguin waddling down the hall towards her with a very distraught looking Lionel Luthor trying to catch it.

“Excuse me Miss Lang,” Lionel shouted as he ran by her trying to catch the little critter.

She just stood there in shock as she watched the two of them race around the corner. Isobel had no idea that penguins could run so quickly. She could hear Lex Luthor laughing hysterically almost to the point of evil from his study. What in the hell was that greedy boy up to now?

She walked into the study to see him putting away his pool stick, “Hi.”

“Lana,” Lex said with a warm smile, “What do I owe the pleasure of your visit?”

“Penguin,” was all she could say and that made him snort.

“Herbert,” Lex said with a feral grin, “Some birds just can’t hold their hot sauce.”

“How in the world could you be so cruel to such an adorable creature,” Isobel asked in Lana horror at such an atrocity.

“Easy,” Lex said walking over to his desk, “He brings my dad pleasure and it is my job to disrupt that pleasure as much as possible.”

“Do you hate your father so much,” she asked, “To deny him some sense of happiness?”

Lex cocked his head to the side to stare at her, “My, aren’t we deep today?”

“I’m sorry,” Isobel said with a small frown, “I’m just a little distraught myself is all.”

“Really,” Lex asked sitting down in his chair looking at her with some concern, “Did something happen?”

“I don’t know what to think really,” Isobel said taking a seat on the sofa with some tears in her eyes, “You know how I like Clark, right?”

Lex’s feature went blank. This was the part where he played best friend. He had played this triangle for years, “Yes.”

“I, um,” she said as a single tear fell, “Saw him with someone today.”

“Really,” Lex asked in his calm, icy voice that took over in situations like this.

“The two of them were kissing,” Isobel said putting a shaking hand over her mouth.

On the inside Lex was screaming. Clark had been acting very strangely this week. What in the hell was going on?

“You can’t say anything Lex,” Isobel begged, “It would hurt him.”

“Lana,” Lex asked in that calm voice that wanted to escalate into a shriek of rage, “Tell me.”

“Promise me Lex,” she demanded.

He stood up and walked over to her taking her hands in his while looking at her in the eyes, “I promise.”

“Jason Teague had him up against the wall kissing him with his tongue practically down his throat,” She said softly which was barely a whisper.

Lex blinked and almost laughed, “What?”

“Exactly,” Isobel said removing her hands so she could run them through her hair, “I didn’t believe it either but there they were in the pool corridor.”

“Wait,” Lex asked thinking back, “When?”

“It was during lunch,” she said knowing that he was dying on the inside.

“Chloe,” Lex hissed to himself, “So she did see something after all.”

“Lex,” she asked covering the joy in her voice with concern, “Are you okay?”

“I’m fine,” he said turning his back to her so she could not see the cold fire burning in his pale eyes, “I have a meeting Lana.”

“You promised Lex,” she said.

“So I did,” Lex smiled, “I keep my promises.”

“I’ll see you later then Lex,” she said getting up walking away with violet eyes, “Thanks for listening.”

He watched her leave and when she was gone he began to shake in rage. It was obvious that Jason was holding something over Clark’s head and was taking advantage of him. Just the thought of that bastard’s hands and mouth touching his farmboy made the rage burn even hotter. He took as seat at his desk and started to make some plans.

The local bats that took up residence in the Kawatche caves were fluttering all around D as he made his way to the wall where the stone of power was kept. He could not help but laugh at what little gossipers these little brown bats were. All the talk about humans with strange powers and the one who stops them did interest him though.

He had indeed heard about the local people who were dubbed meteor freaks who were infected by coming into contact with the meteors from the shower that happened years ago. The rocks were not naturally a part of this world but everything in nature finds a harmonized balance no matter what.

A little bat landed on his shoulder and began chatting in his ear, “Man comes here with shiny that opens wall.”

“Really,” D chuckled, “Does this shiny look like the hole in that wall?”

“It does,” the little bat chirped and took to the air with the others.

D stood in front of the wall and places a perfect hand in the center of the pulsing power that was coming from within. The power felt alien to him but it was a power derived from that of Nature. It was like a song that was shimmering through the air. This stone would fuel the “Terra Bomb” and turn this world into a utopia for Nature.

Vines started to sprout from D and bloom with radiant life. His eyes were glowing with gold and amethyst fire as the vines seeped into the cracks of the wall. His voice was like a soothing spring in a land parched of water, “Open and reveal.”

The walls groaned and D’s voice deepened and echoed with power, “I am the voice of the Silent Ones. I command you open!”

The walls began to move and D smiled victoriously as a light filled his burning eyes. He stopped what he was doing and stepped inside to see a huge altar that was glowing blue with alien symbols. Vines coiled and snapped all around him as they slowly became a part of him once again.

There the stone was in the center of the altar. It looked as though there was room for two more pieces to this crystal puzzle. He reached out to take it but a bat stopped him, “Wait Master!”

“Yes,” D asked looking at the little beauty, “Why do you stop me little one?”

“It will burn you Beloved,” the little bat said, “Pick it up with something so that it does not touch your precious skin.”

D pulled a white silk cloth from his cloak that was decorated with cherry blossom leaves in full bloom. He placed it over the stone and picked it up with a bright smile.

“Thank you little one,” D said and the bat chirped in delight to of been of help and took to the air once more.

D placed the stone within his cloak and like a silent shadow, he left. He had work to do and he was going to enjoy doing it. His laughter echoed through the cave as the bats flew out into the sunset.

“Lex,” Jason said as he was shown into Lex’s study by a security guard, “I love the penguin.”

“Jason,” Lex said as his left eye twitched at the comment, “Won’t you have a seat?”

“It depends,” Jason answered looking around at the splendor he use to have himself and wondered if he missed having it all like Lex did.

“I see that you are looking well,” Lex told his as he fixed some drinks at his bar, “Care for a drink?”

“I don’t drink,” Jason said standing next to the desk, “You look well to Lex.”

“Thank you,” he said taking a sip of his drink once again offering Jason to take a seat.

Jason shook his head politely, “I was shocked to receive a phone call from the infamous Lex Luthor,” he said in jest hoping that Lex would not sprout wings and breathe ice, “Why did you call?”

“Can’t an old friend check up on an old friend,” Lex asked in perfect innocence, “I do so hate to drink alone Jason.”

It had been a long time since he had a drink but his mother would kill him if he touched the stuff. She said that it makes one age and ruins their beauty. He had to be beautiful at all times and never do anything that would spoil that.

Lex held the pure crystal glass out to him and Jason took it as he locked his mother’s angry voice behind a sound proof door. He liked the way the dying sun shone through the glass. It made the amber liquid shine like honey.

“How have you been,” Lex asked as Jason finally took a sip of the liquor.

“Good,” Jason said really liking the taste, “I can tell you’ve been really good.”

“I have,” Lex said with a smile walking over to stoke the fire, “How’s teaching going for you?”

“Its fun,” Jason said as he took another drink of the tasty stuff that probably cost a fortune, “The students are wonderful and really energetic.”

“Really,” Lex asked enthusiastically, “Do tell.”

Jason was about to ask him when he suddenly felt light headed. He dropped his glass and it was like everything was in slow motion. The room looked like it was spinning and he stumbled and fell to the ground on his back.

He realized in horror that he could not feel his arms or his legs. He could not even move his mouth. His breathing became heavy and panic took over when he heard a door close.

“That worked faster than I thought it would,” Lex mused from across the room, “I really must up that doctor’s pay.”

Jason fought to move his mouth so he could yell for help but he couldn’t. He broke out into a sweat from trying to move his arms and legs. All he could move was his eyes and they saw Lex looming over him like a giant predator leaning in for the kill. He moaned hoping that someone would hear him.

“Jason,” Lex said kneeling down to straddle his waste to put a finger over his mouth causing his panic to heighten, “No one can hear you.”

Jason felt like his heart was going to explode in his chest. Why didn’t he listen to his mother?

“Mother always knows best Possum,” Genevieve’s voice echoed in his mind.

“Now,” Lex said menacingly, “I want to talk about Clark.”

Jason’s eyes burned with rage and fear as he tried to raise his arms to strike Lex. Lex just sniffed in disdain, “I know what you did.”

“You were kissing him against his will,” Lex snapped angrily only an inch from Jason’s face, “You always did go after the innocent ones Teague.”

“Bastard,” Jason raged in his head, “You don’t know shit you fucker!”

“You were in that hall pushing him up against that wall forcing yourself on him,” Lex yelled smacking the floor next to his face, “What do you have on him?”

Jason moaned and Lex laughed madly, “Oh, silly me,” he cooed gently, “I forgot about that.”

“Of course you did you bald fuck,” Jason screamed through his scared eyes, “I’ll kill you!”

“One blink for no and two for yes,” Lex said.

Jason blinked twice and Lex smirked, “He is trainable.”

“You stupid fuck,” Jason moaned through closed lips, “I’ll rip your fucking eyes out!”

“Did you force yourself on Clark,” Lex asked and received one blink.

“Don’t lie to me Teague,” Lex warned dangerously, “I do have a lovely hot poker over there that I use on the poor souls who really piss me off.”

Jason would have trembled if he could when Lex knelt right in his face with those icy blue eyes right on his, “They call me the Devil for a reason Jason.”

“Now,” Lex said pushing away, “Do you have something that you’re holding over Clark’s head?”

Jason gave him one blink and raged inside his head, “No you stupid bastard! He’s too tall for anyone to hold anything over his head!”

Suddenly Jason found that he could not breathe because Lex had both his hands around his throat squeezing tightly, “Don’t lie to me!”

He let go and Jason quickly sucked in air through his nose and would have coughed but couldn’t. Lex was going to fucking kill him, and he had done nothing wrong. Damn you Lex!

“Any minute Jason,” Lex said, “And you should be able to move that mouth of yours.”

Jason felt tears welling up in his eyes from not being able to defend himself. He was fucking mad and pissed as hell that he was crying. If he survived this he was going to burn this bitch to the ground.

Lex got to his feet and sneered down at him, “Move your mouth some you idiot.”

“You’re the idiot you damn fucker,” Jason shouted at the top of his lungs, “I’m going to kill you when this trick wears off!”

Lex laughed and it was pure poison. Jason was beginning to think that Lex was the one who was possessed and not Lana. Isobel was scary but Lex Luthor was terrifying.

“Oh goody,” Lex said clapping his hands smiling, “You can talk now.”

“You bald fuck,” Jason snapped angrily for Lex to kick him in the side which made Jason smile, “You’re lucky I can’t feel that right now.”

“I could strangle you right here,” Lex mused, “But I do so hate cleaning up messes.”

“You’re going to have an even bigger mess to clean up,” Jason shouted, “If you can still move after I’m done with you!”

“I warn you Jason,” Lex said in a bone chilling voice and it looked like the light died in the room, “Stay away from Clark.”

“I have done nothing to hurt Clark,” Jason said honestly, “And never would.”

“You lie,” Lex raged and the firelight around him made him look demonic, “You leave him alone! I don’t want your sick hands touching him!”

“I like Clark,” Jason said starting to feel the ache from that kick, “And he likes me.”

Lex froze in place when he heard a voice out in the hall, “And you must be Herbert.”

Jason smiled up at him, “You’re in big trouble now,” just as the door opened.

“Hey Lex,” Clark said cheerfully and then saw Jason on the floor unmoving.

“Clark, I,” Lex tried to say only for his father to walk in and bellow, “What the hell?”

Clark ran over to Jason, “I can’t move my body Clark.”

“What did you do to him,” Clark demanded as he looked up at Lex.

Lex was going to fire everyone on his security staff. What the fuck were those fools doing? Were they playing paintball in the garden?

“He knows about us Clark,” Jason said as he moaned in pain. That kick was really going to leave a mark. He just hoped it did not break a rib. Damn that fuck was strong.

“Clark,” Lex said wondering how the fuck he was going to get out of this one, “I thought he was taking advantage of you.”

“What,” Clark asked in outrage, “And you didn’t come to me first?”

Lex didn’t know what to say but Clark continued, “What did we talk about Lex?”

“I’m sorry Clark,” Lex said really wanting to kill something right now, “What was I suppose to do?”

Wow! That had to be one the dumbest questions he had ever asked in his life. Clark’s face turned red and he exploded, “Sure as fuck not this,” he screamed, “Why’s his neck bruised!”

Lex was horrified. He had never seen Clark so angry. Did he just say fuck? Clark never says fuck. What had Jason done to him? Did he strike a deal with that witch bitch to enchant Clark?

“Well,” Clark yelled, “Are you going to tell me?”

“He was lying,” Lex said, “So I choked him.”

“You choked him,” Clark asked calmly as if that explained everything and then he saw nothing but red, “You fucking choked him!”

Lionel was holding onto Herbert as he watched the drama play out. This was more entertaining than stabbing bitches in prison. How in the world was his son ever going to get himself out of this one?

“It doesn’t matter,” Jason moaned in real pain wanting to just get the fuck out of here.

“Is it because he’s gay,” Clark yelled in outrage, “I’m gay Lex! Would you do this to me?”

Lionel’s eyes widened from the door, “And the plot thickens.”

“Shut the fuck up dad,” Lex roared as he hurled his drink into the fire, “Get the fuck out and take that fucking bird with you!”

Lionel just stood there not amused at all with such language being directed at him, “I bought this castle,” he said in a whisper but Lex heard him and it pissed the young Luthor off more, “I go where I please in my own house.”

“Can you move,” Clark asked Jason who tried and couldn’t. He really hated looking weak in front of Clark. It was okay to be weak behind closed doors.

“No,” he said feeling embarrassed and wanting to stab Lex over and over again with his own solid gold letter opener.

“Clark,” Lex said softly, “I would never do anything to hurt you.”

“Too late,” Clark snapped and picked Jason up which surprised the three men, “We’re leaving.”

“Clark,” Lex called only for Clark to ignore him as he left the room with a still paralyzed Jason.

“Hmm,” Lionel asked looking around, “I wonder where the security has gotten off to?”

Lex’s nostrils flared and his left eye twitched, “Get out.”

“With pleasure,” Lionel said and left the study with Herbert in tow.

Lex just stood there in his empty study as a tear slid from an icy orb. He had royally fucked up this time. He had only been trying to look after Clark. So Clark was gay and he had just lost what chance he had to be with the one he loved more than anything in the world.

“Fuck,” he cried out and hurled his entire bottle of wine into the fire as he fell to the ground in tears. Flames erupted and roared as they devoured the liquor greedily.

Isobel was laughing hysterically from watching in her enchanted mirror. This had played out even better than she had imagined. Now Clark would turn on Chloe for thinking she had spilled the beans. Oh, this was such fun. Soon they would all be in such emotional turmoil that she could get at the stones without them knowing anything until it was too fucking late.

In a violet flash she stood in the cave seeing that the wall was open. Her eyes went violet as she rushed inside to see the stone missing from the altar.

She screamed, “Count D!”

9999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999

D was in his chambers kneeling in front of his altar to Leon smiling sadly into the incense filled air. He now possessed one of the stones of power and with it the force of his “Terra Bomb” will grow exponentially.

He gracefully got to his feet and walked into the parlor of the shop to fix a nice cup of tea. Q-Chan fluttered down chirping excitedly and D smiled, “Of course I did.”

D laid out a strawberry cheesecake and Q-Chan quickly took a strawberry off to enjoy. He was about to giggle when a violet flash went off from behind him along with a crack of thunder.

“Where is it,” Isobel hissed ready to strike with all her power, “I know you have it!”

“Have what,” D asked in mild amusement as he poured his tea, “I have everything a heart could desire.”

“The stone,” she snapped like an angry book, “Give it to me now!”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” D said matter of fact while taking a sip of his tea, “You told me to leave your stones alone.”

Isobel’s eyes glowed dangerously, “Don’t lie to me Count,” she warned, “I would hate to have to blow this place to pieces.”

D’s nostrils flared and the cup shattered in his hands that were now claws, “Do not threaten me mortal,” he roared, “I am God here!”

Isobel giggled madly, “I’ll do as I please you pathetic excuse for a deity,” she said and then smiled evilly, “You were too weak to save the love of your long and sad life.”

All the creatures in the shop were hissing and growling in rage and D’s eyes were glowing in mismatched fury as he glided forwards only for her to vanish. He stood there in the darkness of his wrath as she laughed at his expense.

“Poor little scorned Spirit of Nature,” she cooed, “I’ve been seething longer than you’ve been breathing.”

The darkness faded away and she was sitting in his chair, “Your power is great Countess.”

“Of course it is,” she snapped in agitation, “Otherwise I would not be here!”

“I don’t have your stone,” he said once more.

“You lie,” she hissed in anger, “I can smell its power on your person.”

“Damn,” D hissed to him self in anger, “I knew I should have changed clothes.”

“Give me the stone Count,” she commanded once more, “And I won’t demolish your lovely little shop.”

D was in front of her in an instant with vines coiling and snapping around him like angry whips, “I said your power is great,” he laughed, “But I am a God.”

Her eyes narrowed to poison olive slits as they glowed violet, “I want…need those stones!”

“And I do to,” he snapped angrily.

“I may not be able to take you down alone Count,” she hissed, “But when I resurrect my two friends, we’ll be coming for that stone.”

“What,” D asked in a trembling voice, “Did you just say?”

“My friends and I are going to hurt you,” she snapped.

“No you foolish twit,” he yelled, “Before that load of nonsense!”

“I’m going to resurrect my two friends,” she said, “And we’re going to hurt you badly.”

“You can bring back the dead,” he asked in awe.

Isobel narrowed her eyes, “Yes, such power is mine to command.”

In a hiss of silk and magic they were standing in front of his altar. She saw the picture of the handsome man and grinned.

“If you bring him back,” D said, “I’ll give you the stone.”

“You would give up such power,” she asked pointing at the altar, “For a man?”

“If you bring back my Leon,” he said again, “I’ll give you the stone.”

“He will not be as he was,” Isobel said with some regret of having such limitations, “I can only command the spirit of the deceased to take over the body of another as I am.”

“What is one life,” D snapped, “For the life of my Leon.”

“If I do this,” she asked, “You swear to give me the stone of power?”

“Yes,” D said honestly and she could sense no deception in his voice or eyes.

“So be it,” she said with a smile, “Pick out a worthy host for your beloved Leon then.”

“I have had my eyes on someone,” D said looking off into the void that only his immortal eyes could see, “Someone very special.”

“How’re you feeling,” Clark asked as he stepped into the hospital room with some flowers.

“Like I have a fractured rib,” Jason said opening one eye to look at Clark, “Are those roses for me?”

“Yeah,” Clark said with a sad smile, “I’m sorry this happened.”

“It’s not your fault,” he said trying to move which only caused more pain but he held out a hand to stop Clark, “It was mine for letting my guard down around him.”

“I never would have thought Lex would do something like this,” Clark said angrily as he laid the roses down on the table, “He actually paralyzed you and choked you.”

“Yeah,” Jason said, “With alcohol.”

Luthorcorp,” Clark seethed, “Always making new stuff.”

“Clark,” Jason asked pleadingly, “Can you just get me the hell out of here?”

“I don’t think that would be a good idea,” Clark told him, “You’ve been hurt.”

“You should listen to your friend,” a voice said from the open door, “He sounds like he has a good head on his shoulders.”

“Hello mother,” Jason said with a venomous bite as Clark turned to look at the lovely women.

“Hello Possum,” she cooed closing the door behind her, “And this must be Clark.”

“Mrs. Teague,” Clark said respectfully, “Nice to meet you.”

“Likewise,” Genevieve said with a polite smile, “My, you are very easy on my eyes.”

“Clark,” Jason asked, “Would you please give my mother and me some time to talk before you spring me out of here?”

“Okay,” Clark said and smiled once more at Genevieve before closing the door behind him on the way out.

“He is very lovely,” she said with a smile, “And he brought you roses.”

“Why are you here,” Jason asked in some pain.

“Are you alright,” she asked in concern, “Should I get a doctor?”

“I’m fine,” he hissed behind clinched teeth, “You don’t have to pretend you give a damn.”

“But I do give a damn,” she snapped, “You’re my son.”

“Look mom,” he said, “Lana is not getting us anywhere.”

“Silly boy,” Genevieve said calmly, “Isobel is just biding her time. She will lead us to those stones and we must stop her.”

She sat next to him on the bed and took his big hands in hers, “If you outwits us my precious, we’re doomed.”

Jason did not want to look at her. She was a monster wearing a mother’s skin. Why should he have to pay for the sins of someone he never knew?

“Gertrude was such a fool,” Genevieve said angrily, “She had no patience.”

“You sound like you know her,” Jason said looking into his mother’s beautifully clear eyes.

“You could say that Possum,” Genevieve told him as she thought, “Because I am her.”

A knock came at the door and Clark poked his head inside, “Sorry to interrupt,” he said, “But the doctor wants to keep you overnight just in case.”

“Son of a bitch,” Jason said in outrage.

“My,” Genevieve said in amusement, “Is this Smalltown talk?”

“Smallville,” Clark corrected her.

“Clark,” Jason pleaded, “Get me out of here man.”

“No can do,” Clark told him, “They just want to monitor you for the night.”

Jason closed his eyes, “Perfect.’

“Would you like to kiss my son goodnight before you go Clark,” Genevieve asked and Jason almost died right there in his cheap hospital gown.

“Actually,” Clark said fighting not to blush at her forwardness, “I was going to stay with him.”

“You don’t have to Clark,” Jason said, “You have school tomorrow.”

“Oh,” Genevieve asked, “You attend university?”

“Not yet,” Clark said, “I graduate this year.”

“Very nice,” she said turning to cock an eye at her son, “How old are you Clark?”

“Eighteen,” he told her, “Why?”

“No reason,” she said turning to smile at him good naturedly, “Just a mother’s curiosity.”

“Uh-huh,” Clark said with some bite and Jason almost snorted. Did Clark just “Uh-huh” Genevieve Teague, the Mistress of the Dark?

“I’m sorry,” Clark apologized, “It’s just been a very stressful day.”

“Quite alright,” Genevieve said waving it away with a graceful hand, “You’re the first to ever correct me and have attitude.”

Clark looked at Jason and cocked a brow kissing him on top of the head before gracefully fleeing this scary woman before she grew fangs and sank them in.

The two of them watched him go and Genevieve turned back to smile at her son, “I think I like him.”

“Is Jason alright sweetheart,” Martha asked in concern while pouring him a glass of lemonade.

Jonathan just shook his head, “Why would Lex attack him like that,” he asked, “Is he having another psychotic break?”

“I don’t think so,” Clark said from his seat at the bar.

“Sweetheart,” Martha asked, “Is there something you’re not telling us?”

Clark knew that his mom would be fine with the news that he was homosexual but he really had no idea how his dad would take it. He had read some pretty terrible stories online and in books about parents kicking the abominations out. This was why he had kept this boxed up under lock and key for so long.

“Clark,” Jonathan asked in concern seeing how pale he had gone, “You alright son?”

“I’m good,” Clark said petting Thor with his foot, “I’m just worried is all.”

“Quite understandable,” Jonathan said, “You need to be careful around Lex.”

“I know,” Clark said with a small frown, “And I will.”

“Good,” Jonathan told him and got up to hug him, “I’m heading to bed all.”

“Night dad,” Clark said hugging him back.

“I’ll be up in a bit,” Martha said while turning to the dishes.

Jonathan kissed her on the back of the neck and made his way up the stairs with Thor hot on his heels. Martha heard Clark get to his feet and head to the door to put his shoes on.

“You know you can tell your father and me anything Clark,” she asked, “Don’t you?”

Clark smiled, “I know,” he said giving her a hug, “Love you.”

“Love you to sweetheart,” she said and watched him race out the door to the loft.

She drained the water and hung up the towel before turning off the lights. Lois would not be in until tomorrow so all the lights could go off tonight.

Why was her baby afraid to tell them that he way gay? That was when she was suddenly hit with a feeling of horror. Did Clark think they would kick him out? Did he truly think they would not love him anymore? All those horrible stories she read on the internet and in the news made her tremble. Did Clark really think they would treat him that way?

She walked into the bedroom white as a sheet and Jonathan looked at her in concern, “Are you alright?”

“We really need to talk Jonathan,” she said in tears as he got up to hold her.

“Okay,” he said, “Tell me.”

99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999

Clark was sitting at his desk looking at some pictures and drawings. He came to a photo of Lex and him sitting in his study at the mansion reading Warrior Angel. He was too upset to know that Lex was standing in the shadows too afraid to approach. He watched Clark pick up a photo and whisper, “Why Lex?”

Was Clark crying? Had he hurt him that badly?

“Of course you have you idiot,” Lex snapped at himself, “Next time get better security that will shoot your father on site.”

Clark sniffed and put the picture down muttering, “Did I do something wrong?”

“No,” Lex said before he thought and Clark spun around in his chair sending papers and pictures flying everywhere.

“When did you get here,” Clark asked, “Why are you here?”

“I, umm,” Lex stuttered while bending down to pick up stuff so he did not have to look at Clark, “Came to apologize.”

“I’m not the one with a fractured rib,” Clark bit at him, “Or a bruised throat.”

“I deserve that,” Lex said.

“And more,” Clark said getting to his feet to stand at the window, “You could have killed him.”

“I wasn’t going to kill him,” Lex said, “Only scare him a little.”

“A little,” Clark asked in disbelief, “He’s in the hospital Lex.”

“The pussy,” Lex thought and said, “I thought he was holding something over your head Clark.”

“Newsflash Lex,” Clark yelled, “I’m taller than all of you!”

“Funny,” Lex said and then frowned, “I really thought he was blackmailing you Clark and was taking advantage of you.”

“So you drugged him where he could not defend himself and then beat the shit out of him,” Clark said rolling his eyes, “My hero.”

“He’s your teacher Clark,” Lex exploded, “When I was told he had you up against a wall with his tongue down your throat…”

“How do you know that,” Clark snapped, “Who told you?”

“My sources,” Lex said.

“Chloe would never betray me,” Clark thought, “She had been the one to warn me and Jason.”

Clark’s eyes narrowed, “Are you having me watched?”

“Of course not,” Lex said and then thought, “But that’s not a bad idea.”

“What is this about Lex,” Clark yelled, “Do you hate gay people or something?”

“No,” Lex said walking to him, “I could never hate you.”

“Then why the hell did you attack him like that,” Clark snapped, “I thought you’re my best friend?”

“I am,” Lex said throwing his arms up in exasperation at the circles they always seemed to be running in, “I just care about you too much.”

Clark suddenly cooled, “What?”

“Okay,” Lex said, “I’m a rich son of bitch so here goes. If this doesn’t turn out well I’m leaving Smallville forever.”

“What the hell are you talking about,” Clark asked in confusion really starting to wonder if Lex was losing it again.

“When I was told that Jason had you up against a wall with his tongue down your throat,” Lex told him, “I wanted to strangle the bastard to death for daring to lay his filthy hands and mouth on you.”

Clark froze.

“Ever since that day you brought me back to life under that bridge Clark,” Lex said looking deeply into those emerald eyes, “I’ve had eyes only for you.”

“You make me smile, laugh, snort, cry,” he went off listing all the things Clark did to him, “You make me feel where I was once frozen.”

Clark couldn’t breathe.

“I love you Clark Kent,” Lex said finally feeling that weight being lifted off his shoulders, “Even more every goddamn day.”

Clark let out a breath and stumbled backwards to fall out of the window causing Lex to watch in horror as he vanished from view.

“Clark,” Lex cried as he ran to the window to look down in relief that Clark had landed in a big pile of hay.

“I’m fine,” Clark said just laying there taking in deep breaths.

“What if this hay had not been here,” he thought, “Let’s not think right now Clark.”

“You scared the shit out of me,” Lex called down still trembling, “What if you had broken your fucking neck?”

“Then you’d know your love life truly is cursed,” Clark shouted back.

A tear fell from Lex’s eyes, “You bastard!”

“Takes one to know one,” Clark called up while rolling out of the way.

“I’m coming down,” Lex said and ran like the fucking wind with his coat snapping behind him. That had scared the hell out of him. He finally told Clark his feelings and they almost killed him.

Clark was walking back into the barn for Lex to stop a few feet away from him. He had no idea what to expect now. Clark looked so hot with hay all in his hair. He looked like a golden god of the field ready to be worshipped.

“This doesn’t change the fact that you tried to kill Jason,” Clark told him with his hands on his hips.

“If I wanted him dead Clark,” Lex thought, “There would have been no body for you to find in my study.”

“What do you want me to do,” Lex asked, “Do you want me to write him a nice note?”

“That would be a good start,” Clark said, “A flower would also be a nice way to say please don’t press charges.”

“Poison ivy,” Lex thought, “Or perhaps Poison oak?”

Lex nodded, “Okay.”

Clark stood there for a moment and said, “I do love you Lex,” he said truthfully, “But I am with Jason.”

Lex hid his feelings once more. He knew Jason well enough. Jason would get bored and he would be there for Clark to have a shoulder to cry on. Clark Kent was his and nothing or nobody will ever change that.

“I understand,” Lex said smoothly yet warmly so as to not hurt his farmboy further, “I’m here if you need me Clark.”

“I know,” Clark said gently bending over to kiss his cheek.

Lex smiled as he touched the spot, “I’ll get my secretary started on that nice note,” he said, “And have my gardener pick something special.”

Clark cocked a brow, “If he gets a rash Lex,” he warned, “I’ll slash your tires.”

“Damn,” he hissed to himself, “But I’ll think of something.”

“Very well,” Lex said sourly, “No poison oak in the screaming mandrake.”

“Good,” Clark said walking him to his car, “Promise me something Lex and gods help your pretty cars if you ever break it.”

“What,” Lex asked getting worried.

“Come to me first,” Clark said, “Just come to me first from now on Lex.”

“I promise,” Lex said hoping that some God up there liked him for the sake of his pretty cars.

“I’ll hold you to it Lex,” Clark said and Lex told him to have a goodnight and drove off.

Clark stood there in the light not seeing the violet eyes glowing with rage in the darkness. Was it time to bring out the big guns already?

Leon: Sorry D.

Count D: Thwap Thwap Thwap Thwap Thwap Thwap

Leon: Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! What the hell was that for?
