Conclusion

Elliot knew that sleeping with Athena had been a mistake, taking this girl to bed was the wrong choice but his passion and desire to have her as his own and make her feel comfort and love was tied up in his own selfish need for release.

Watching her sleeping in the early dawn sunrise, he felt that pang of guilt and could only feel shame when he saw her. They had shared mutual passion twice through out her arrival and each time was better than the last. He couldn’t remember how good he had felt like this, married to Kathy had given him joy over the years but after 5 children and the constant demand of his job, she had started to pull away from him, emotionally and sexually. He’d dealt with it like any other man would have, but when she filed for divorce that relieved him to a point. It wasn’t all on him but on her as well, and now living apart and the kids with her during the week and with him on weekends he had his job and his children without the unpleasant guilt to come home to daily.

‘Morning’ the small hoarse voice of Athena had roused him from his thinking and he glanced over and saw that smile, soft and sweet. She sat up clutching the cover over her youthful naked but bruised body and felt a stirring in his groin and his heart. She shouldn’t be here, and he shouldn’t be feeling this way towards her.

“Morning” he spoke softly. ‘You ok? You like you have been thinking and from the frown lines on your face, the conclusion you have come to, isn’t a pleasant one.’ Athena shook her head and ran her fingers through her raven hair. She was reading him and yes, she was correct in her assumptions.

Walking over to her, he sat on the edge of the bed, far away so he wouldn’t be tempted to throw her down and fuck them both into oblivion but not too far away so he couldn’t give her comfort. “Athena, we can’t do this again. We shouldn’t have done it in the first place, your 17 and this is a conflict of interest because it interfere with the investigation. I can’t loose this job, I love my work and sleeping with you could potential ruin it.”

‘Elliot, I know all of this. When we having sex, you were mentally processing all of the negative aspects of this coupling. But did you ever think that maybe, if I wasn’t comfortable with this then I would have left or told you to stop?’

She had a point.

“Athena. Your underage, the same age as my eldest daughter, if some guy my age had slept with her, he would be in jail minutes after the fact.”

‘I’m not your daughter. I’m not 17, I wanted this, you wanted this. It was mutual. But, if your struggling with the fact that it happened then just forget it happened, but we both know that in your mind, you will always remember what we did here, the feeling of your erection inside of me, thrusting and pumping inside and out, the moans that you give when I bit your neck, the moans I gave when you nipped along my body. I will remember this, but for you, I think you should forget it.’ She moved to the right side of the bed and began to put her clothes back on. It had hurt her that he now had regrets from last night, knowing that sleeping with him was good for both of them, she was heart-broken that he changed his mind.

Elliot watched as she dressed and started for the door. ’Athena..’

Turning her head, she looked at him, he stood and walked over towards her, pulling her into a bear hug, he rubbed his hand along her back . Perhaps this is what she truly needed, someone to care for her. Show her she was special to someone.

Pulling away, she moved into the hallway and down the stairs. She had to get out. He had tried to smooth it away with a hug, as comforting as it was, it wasn’t what she wanted. Being rejected again after the fact, she stepped into the New York chilly air and made a slow pace back to the house of horror.

Watching her walk away from his bedroom window, he knew that it would be the last time they saw each other. He was sad to see her go, and to leave things the way he did. Seeing the mussed sheets from their night together. He was angry at himself and at her. She did nothing wrong, he was an adult, he should have known better. Ripping the sheets off, he put them in the washer, the only way to remove the memories and her scent that clung to his skin.

***This is a better ending, I found that I couldn’t leave it the way chapter 3 had ended. Because with any action, there is always regret. No matter how good the action was.***
