River didn’t even notice when Mal and Eleanor left the room, she just continued to rant at Jayne with the righteous fury of a woman, who had a beautiful seduction scene all laid out, only to find the seduced missing from the scene.

“How could you disappear like that, Captain Daddy and I looked all night for you!”

Not letting Jayne get a word in edgewise, River continued with a stream of curses that made even the merc stare in awe at the virago who stood in front of him, but not ***being known for his patience Jayne finally lost his temper.

“Gorram it Girl, will ya just shut up.” Jayne roared, startling River into stillness.

Staring at him through the curtain of her hair, she reminded Jayne once again of those stories his Mother used to read to the children before bed.

Rubbing his hand over his face in an attempt to wake up, he rose from his nest of blankets to tower over the smaller woman before him, with his hand still over his face Jayne missed the calculating look that passed over Rivers face.

With all the speed and grace of a striking cobra River pressed two fingers to a nerve bundle on the side of Jayne’s spine, locking Jayne’s legs and arms as if someone had tied him up.

With fingers supple and quick, River undid Jayne’s fly, she licked her lips at the sight before her, pushing down Jayne’s cargos until they rested on the top of his thighs, leaving him open to her voracious gaze.

Unable to move his arms, Jayne looked on in horror, “Gorram it girl, what in the seven hells do ya think your doin?” Jayne grunted with the effort to move, to push the girl away. He could feel himself respond as River examined him, he hardened even further as River giggled, her breath stirring the hair around his cock.

Trying to think of anything except the dream he had of Rivers mouth the night before, ‘Mal, airlock, her brother knows sharp things’ Jayne thought frantically to himself as Rivers cool fingers surrounded his heated length, “River, we can’t do this, it’s not right”

Standing back up, River nodded, leaning against Jayne she reached around and pressed another place on his spine. Jayne collapsed back down onto the couch, it was the strangest feeling, and everything felt numb except his cock, which was currently waving in the air.

“OK, thanks for letting me sit down an all, but could ya please let me have my arms back?” Jayne asked hopefully, as he watched River go to the door and lock it.

She reminded Jayne of a small hunting cat as River moved back across the room; she knelt gracefully between Jayne’s thighs. She gently cradled Jayne in her cool hands, pursing her lips she blew across the heated pre cum that was seeping from the reddened slit.

Jayne groaned, he had never felt so turned on in his life, he tried once more to push the heat away, but the feel of her hot wet mouth engulfing the head of his cock. The feel of River’s tongue lapping at the vein on the underside almost sent him over the edge, as she slowly ran it from base to tip.

Her mouth let his cock go with a small pop, leaning forward she rubbed her cheek against his hot length, Jayne managed a strangled, “No, musn’t” even though he knew he was losing the battle against his most basic desires.

His breath escaped noisily as his brow pinched in a frown. Jayne sighed louder as she rewarded him by licking and nibbling on his scrotum, making the skin of it tighten and his penis twitch in sympathetic need. She stayed there, licking the sensitive, ticklish seam between pelvis and thigh, tonguing his testicles, breathing on his shaft, she wrapped him in her mouth, warm and wet and so bloody talented it wrested an actual chest-reverberating groan from his throat, it was so tempting to explode right then and there, but he refrained, gritting his teeth and tightening his buttocks until the urge to ejaculate passed.

River once again took his cock into her mouth, the hot wet suction brought a whimper, as Jayne threw his head back against the couch. With a feral moan he gave in to the pleasure of this woman’s mouth on his cock.

The feel of her teeth as she lightly nipped the underside of the head caused his orgasm to start, when River grasped his balls in one hand and stroked a finger on the soft skin just behind them, the orgasm rocked through Jayne.

River laid her head down on the soft skin of Jayne’s hip, licking her lips enjoying the lingering taste of him on her lips, listening to his breathing soften.

River concentrated on Jayne's emotions, loving the warmth of pleasure that had ran through him. River rolled around in the feeling, almost purring in contentment at the feelings she had managed to bring out, now Jayne would realize they belonged together.

The sharp feeling of rage slammed into her, knives cutting into her, needles running through her nerves. River scuttled back on all fours till her back hit the bureau beside the door. She stared in shock at Jayne, how could he change from feeling all warm and pleasured to pure rage?

Finding he could move once again, Jayne stood up and straightened his clothing, without looking at the girl, no young woman, he corrected himself, he walked out of the room.

"Why?"

Rivers soft question pulled Jayne to a stop halfway out the door, "Because you didn't give me a choice."

His words hit River with the force of stone, she felt battered and bruised. She had meant to give Jayne a gift out of love, but instead she had taken something precious away from him.

Jayne walked down the stairs, he was in shock, part of him raged at what River had done, another little voice kept saying “yeah but you liked it, you came didn’t you” He walked blindly across the bar, grabbing a bottle of whiskey he drank down about a third before coming up for air.

“Jayne, Answer me gorram it. What in the hell is goin on? If you did somethin to River I swear this time ya ain’t gonna talk your way out of it”

Mal’s voice finally cut across the confused thoughts and emotions that were swirling around Jayne.

“Huh, Mal, where’d ya come from?” Jayne slurred as he eyed the swaying man in front of him.

Pinching the bridge of his nose Mal took a deep breath, it was obvious that something had gone on after he had left his merc alone with River, and Mal was getting very frustrated trying to find out what.

Eleanor moved up beside Mal and laid a hand on his arm, “Captain, take a close look at Jayne”

Casting a glance at the woman, Mal gave the larger man a good hard look. The glazed eyes, the pale skin and the stunned expression, Mal shook his head, he had seen that look to many times in the war, it boded ill.

Taking Jayne by the arm, Mal led him over to sit at the table where Eleanor and him had been enjoying breakfast. “Sit down Jayne, I need to know what happened after I left.”

“Nothin” Jayne took another deep drink from the bottle.

“Jayne somethin happened, and as the Captain I have to know what it was.” Mal repeated in his patented ‘I am the Captain so don’t fuck with me voice”

“Gorramit Mal, I done said I didn’t do nothin to the feng le girl,” Jayne ran a hand over his face, “If my word ain’t good enough for ya, then I’ll have my stuff off a the ship fore noon.”

“Hold it right there Jayne, I never said you did somethin to River, I think it’s more like River did somethin to you.”

Jayne laughed bitterly, “Now how would a little slip of a girl do anythin ta me?”

Realizing that pushing Jayne would not get him any where Mal let the matter drop, “Jayne your word is good enough, we have to pick up the cargo at Mat’s”

Mal went on to outline the job he had managed to pick up as the finished breakfast.

River made her way back to Serenity, managing to dodge around Simon on her way to her bunk, locking the hatch behind her she collapsed on the bed and bawled.

The human body can only take so much grief before it must recover, River slipped into an exhausted sleep. Slipping into a dream without thought, she walked through an autumn forest, the smells were intense, the colors bright a large brown bear walked beside her, River Ursus Arctos more commonly known as a grizzly bear.

River laid herself down on a nubby blanket below a willow tree, the hanging branches screening the rest of the world in a green curtain. The bear rubbed his head along her side, and over her breasts. River could feel the heat of arousal pool in her centre, the large head swung to the join of her thighs. Nudging her legs apart the bear licked and nibbled at her centre, his sharp teeth catching the soft skin of her inner thighs. The small pinpricks of pain heightening her arousal, River found herself screaming out her climax to the heavens.

The sound of feet crunching on fallen leaves brought her around from her post coital doze, without lifting her head she spoke.

“The bear wants me, but the man has been hurt beyond repair.” River lifted eyes brimming with tears to the young dark haired man whom she had met previously dreaming of Jayne’s past, as he gracefully sat down beside her.

“Jayne has always been a mass of confusion, though I must admit that forcing yourself onto him wasn’t the smartest thing you could have done”

River groaned and threw herself backwards on the blanket, staring up into the trees canopy, “Can you talk to him Hawk?”

“Little Albatross you know it doesn’t work that way,” Hawk reached over and pushed the hair away from River’s eyes, “I can talk to you here because of my training and because of what was done to you, you will remember this. Jayne comes here by accident.” Chuckling the Hawk, slid away from River as the bear came back and swiped half heartedly at the young man before lying down between them.

River laid her head down on top of Jayne Bears, keeping her eyes on her companion, “Why does Jayne-bear want me but Jayne-man doesn’t” she cried in frustration.

“Animals are more simple creatures, when they see a potential mate the pursue until they either win or lose, people on the other hand come up with all sorts of reasons as to why they cannot love somebody.” Hawk stated, looking out across the expanse he continued, “I have to go, you’re needed.”

River woke with a start, the scent of her arousal hung heavy in the air, the pounding on her hatch started again.

“Who’s there” River called out groggily.

“Mei Mei, are you alright?”

“I’m fine Simon,” River huffed as she moved to unlock the hatch. Looking at her brothers worried expression, she shook her head, “Ge ge you are going to have to let go sometime you know.”

Simon shrugged his shoulders as he turned to follow his sister down the corridor, “It’s a big brother’s prerogative to annoy little sisters for as long as possible.”

The siblings continued bickering as they made their way in to the mess, seeing Jayne sitting at the table River knew what she had to do.

Sitting down as if nothing had happened, River joined in the conversation flowing around her, neither ignoring nor acknowledging Jayne more than she had any other day. River could feel the anger seep out of Jayne as he ate dinner.

Finished eating River left the table with Kaylee.
