Author's Notes: Charlie and Don break up the, seeing that this relationship never will be what they wish it to be. Their talk goes deep into the night and so Charlie stays at Don’s house for the last time as he promises.

Don turns around. Again. This is like the thousandth time this night. His bed keeps being uncomfortable and somehow very empty. He shivers with cold though the blanket is covering him from head to toe. He glances over to his digital clock standing on the night drawer. He frowns and sits up. This is stupid, so stupid. And it doesn’t make any sense at all. Charlie is lying one room away, a few steps that part him from the most important person in Don’s life. He just has to stand up, go over to his sleeping angel and kiss him, tell him that he was wrong, that Charlie should forget every word Don has said to him earlier.

But then his head sinks back into the pillow. He can’t. It’s harder than he has thought. Charlie, oh my God, Charlie. Both his hands cover his face, eyes closed tightly. He has to sleep. Now. Otherwise he will go crazy. Once more he turns around, this time onto his left side and tries to fall asleep. He relaxes, breathes slowly in and out, concentrating on a green lawn with a swing, imagines he is sitting on that swing. Okay, this is really girlish. Stop thinking. Sleep.

Suddenly he hears something, seems to be a door that is opened. Then he can hear in the silence of the night a very regular breathing approaching the bed. The blanket is pushed aside a bit and a warm body lies down next to him.

At first Don doesn’t dare to move. He can feel Charlie’s small and fragile body pressing against his spine, can feel his brother’s growing erection. He is so close, so near, so…He is there. He is right here beside Don. It’s now that Don faces Charlie, rolling onto his right side.

“Why are you here, Charlie?”

“I felt a bit…lonely.”, Charlie whispers, seeming scared to have Don made angry.

He closes the tiniest distance between them both the top of his head nuzzling against Don’s lips and chin.

“Charlie, I let you sleep here because I knew the first night would be hard. You aren’t supposed to come over. You just have to know that I am here if you want to talk.”

“I know. I’m sorry.”

Charlie looks up shortly before his hair nuzzles Don’s lips again. Don breathes in slowly wanting to scent Charlie. His brother. He has to stop that. Otherwise this all will get out of control. As if it already isn’t.

“Oh, Charlie…”, Don finally is able to say quietly before he slightly presses his lips against Charlie’s black, curly hair. Charlie looks up at that. Those eyes, those unbelievably dark eyes, all shiny in the light of the streetlamps. Don begins slowly to trace a line of kisses down Charlie’s face. First his forehead, then the tip of his nose and then he kisses Charlie. It’s short, just a split-second before he pulls back. Still Charlie is looking at his brother, he seems to look right into his soul, into his very heart, knowing that Don still loves Charlie. Loves him in a way he isn’t supposed to, allowed to.

“We can’t, Charlie…”, Don whispers, voice hoarse from excitement. He realizes that he uses Charlie’s name very often, almost in every sentence he speaks. It’s a piece of evidence, Don guesses, that he still can’t let go of Charlie.

And then Charlie is leaning towards Don, slightly brushing his own lips against Don’s before both of them can’t hold back their feelings any longer and fall into fierce and passionate kissing. Charlie’s arms slide around Don’s waist, while Don’s fingers are tightening their grip in Charlie’s hair. Don’s legs wrap around Charlie’s and suddenly he lies on top of his little brother still not parting their lips. Tongues entangled they don’t dare to let go of each other, Don finally rolling on top of Charlie, covering his body with his own one. They tilt their heads from left to right, trying to claim as much as possible of the other one’s warm mouth.

“Don…”, Charlie moans out loud between kisses. “I love you.”

Don pauses and watches Charlie quietly. This is what he wants, what they both want. Who cares what others will think, who cares if it’s illegal, who cares at all? As long as they both love each other nothing can happen to them. Nothing stands between them. Nothing can destroy what they have. Don places a kiss on Charlie’s cheek and embraces him, holding him tight.

“I love you, too.” Don sighs deeply. “I’ve made a mistake. I’m sorry, Charlie. I am so sorry.”

“Don’t.”, Charlie interrupts him. “I understand why you did it. You wanted to-“

“I wanted to protect you.”, Don finishes Charlie’s sentence. “But I can only protect you when I am around you.”

Charlie smiles at that, Don doing the same.

“I will never let you go again.”, Don promises and seals it with a passionate kiss.

“I believe you.”, Charlie answers shortly before they both forget everything around them and give in their feelings, losing control of their bodies.
