“What’s all this? I thought you went in there for drinks.”

“I did, but then I got the munchies.” Sara sat the bag by her feet and stuck a lollipop in her mouth. As they drove she absently played with it with her tongue, and tried not to grin when she heard Grissom take a breath and hold it when he noticed what she was doing. Just to make sure it wasn’t a coincidence she started toying with the lollipop suggestively and determined it wasn’t a coincidence when Grissom practically groaned. She watched him drink some of the bottled water she had picked up and he sat the cold bottle between his thighs.

“Isn’t that a little cold Griss?”

*Damn you woman. Of course it’s cold. That’s the whole point.* “No it’s fine. It’s just a habit. I’m used to putting my cell phone in the cup holders at work.”

Sara grinned as she watched the city out the window. *Sure it is.*

They reached the hotel and decided to hang out in the lounge for a while after stopping by their suite. Grissom stood by the window looking out at the city, trying to get the images of Sara and that lollipop out of his head, while Sara was in the bathroom. When she opened the door and saw him, she put her plan into action. Walking across the living room she grabbed a package from the bag and flopped onto the sofa, propping her feet up on the arm. “Whenever you’re ready Grissom.”

Grissom turned and had to smile at the sight of Sara stretched out on the sofa, with her feet up and licorice. “Licorice Sara? First it was lollipops and now licorice?”

“Of course. I haven’t had this much fun since I was a kid, and this reminds me of being a kid.”

He walked to the bathroom puzzled by her statement, especially since he knew about her childhood. When he returned to the living room she was lying on her back eating licorice. “You really shouldn’t do that you know. You might choke yourself.”

Sara smiled. *I knew he couldn’t resist that.* “It’s ok Griss. One of my foster sisters and I used to play this game with licorice to see who could put it into their mouth the farthest.”

“Why on earth would you do that?”

Sara giggled. “I don’t know. It was fun. The catch was you weren’t allowed to bend it.”

He watched as a piece of licorice slid between her lips and slowly disappeared until only a tiny tip of red remained visible between her teeth. He sucked a breath and closed his eyes trying to put the blatantly suggestive image out of his mind. Sara smiled and pulled the candy out of her mouth enough to chew it as she got up and walked towards him. “You know that’s exactly what her brother’s friends did when I did that. I always won too. I guess I should have told them the secret. I don’t have a gag reflex.” That had Grissom holding his breath and biting his lip to keep from groaning, but nothing could stop his cock from twitching. He just hoped Sara didn’t notice as she walked by and started for the door.

Down in the lounge they talked over a few drinks. True to his word Grissom answered any questions Sara had about anything. She learned that Grissom had at one point been considering medical school, but became more interested in the science than the application. She learned when he was seven up he had a dog he named Darwin who ran on the beach with him every evening. She learned about his father leaving when he was young and the backlash from his mother’s family that followed. If she weren’t already in love with the man, the look in his eyes when he talked about his mother would have done it. Then she learned the most surprising thing about him: Grissom could dance.

He led her to the small dance floor while the DJ played, but when he took her in his arms it was nothing like dancing with anyone else. While most men could hold her and move their feet, Grissom actually danced with her and she once again found him singing into her ear.

How can I just let you walk away,
just let you leave without a trace
When I stand here taking every breath with you, ooh
You're the only one who really knew me at all

How can you just walk away from me,
when all I can do is watch you leave
'cause we've shared the laughter and the pain
and even shared the tears
You're the only one who really knew me at all

So take a look at me now,
oh there's just an empty space
And there's nothing left here to remind me,
just the memory of your face
Ooh take a look at me now,
well there's just an empty space
And you coming back to me is against all odds
and that's what I've got to face

I wish I could just make you turn around,
turn around and see me cry
There's so much I need to say to you,
so many reasons why
You're the only one who really knew me at all

So take a look at me now,
well there's just an empty space
And there's nothing left here to remind me,
just the memory of your face
Now take a look at me now,
'cause there's just an empty space
But to wait for you, is all I can do
and that's what I've got to face

Take a good look at me now,
cos I'll still be standing here
And you coming back to me is against all odds
It's the chance I've gotta take

Take a look at me now

She looked at him and he blushed. “Sorry. Sometimes music makes more sense that I do, especially around you. For some reason when I’m around you, I can’t think clearly and nothing I want to say comes out right. I feel like I’m a kid again, and believe me if things had worked out well when I was a kid I wouldn’t be a cynical old man.”

“You’re not old. And you’re doing fine.”

Sara moved her hands to around his back and moved her body closer so they were touching almost chest to knee when the next song started. *Thank you to whatever date gods played this.* Grissom was momentarily surprised when Sara pulled in closer, but nothing felt more right when her leg fell into place between his and she was practically straddling his thigh. They moved to the music and it wasn’t until he felt Sara’s lips on his neck that the song registered in his mind.

Close your eyes, make a wish
And blow out the candlelight
For tonight is just your night
We're gonna celebrate, all thru the night
Pour the wine, light the fire
Girl your wish is my command
I submit to your demands
I'll do anything, girl you need only ask

I'll make love to you
Like you want me to
And I'll hold you tight
Baby all through the night
I'll make love to you
When you want me to
And I will not let go
Till you tell me to

Girl relax, let's go slow
I ain't got nowhere to go
I'm just gonna concentrate on you
Girl are you ready, it's gonna be a long night.

The combination of the song, Sara’s lips on his neck, and her thigh rubbing against his crotch was too much for him. He pulled back slightly and looked into her deep brown eyes. “Are you ready to get out of here?”

Sara smiled at him and let him lead her to the elevators. As soon as the doors closed behind them Sara found herself pinned against the wall with Grissom’s lips crushed against hers. She moaned when she felt his tongue brush against her lips and allowed him to deepen the kiss, pulling him hard against her. All too soon the elevator stopped on their floor and Grissom pulled back and lead her to the suite. On the way down the hall he fought an internal battle with himself over his actions. He wanted her more than ever, but he still wasn’t sure he had proven himself to her yet. *Then again it’s not up to me. Only Sara knows when she can trust me enough to move forward, if she can at all. The ball’s in her court now.*
