CHAPTER 49
“We need to call ahead in order to land in Miami, do you have the number for the crime lab, and will we be landing on their strip?” Paul asked.
“I have the number in my purse.” Sara said reaching for it and passing it to him.
Paul dialled the number. “This is Paul Allen. My jet is carrying Mr and Mrs Grissom. We are requesting clearance to land on your strip in Miami. I’m going to put you on to our Captain.”
“This is Captain Blanchford.” The man stated.
“This is air traffic control in Miami. We need you to land on runway four at the Delta Strip, do you know where that is?”
“Yes mame I do.”
“We will see you when you land.”
“Thank you.”
Paul looked to Sara and Grissom. We will be landing in about fifteen minutes.”
“Great.” Sara chimed, “I need to go check on the baby.”
The plane landed without a problem. There were some people waiting on the runway for them.
They got off the plane and walked to introduce themselves.
The red haired man extended his hand. “I am Lt Horatio Caine with the Miami PD, I am in charge of the CSI’s here in Miami. You must be Dr Gilbert Grissom. I know you well by reputation. This is Dr Alexx Woods, she is our medical examiner.”
Alexx noticed Doc Robbins and took him aside to discuss ongoing care for Grissom.
Gil shook Horatio’s hand. “It is just Grissom. This is my wife Sara, my daughters Amy, the oldest and Samantha, the youngest. The older gentleman with us is Doc Robbins, I see he is talking to your doctor. He brought his wife with him.”
“OK, Grissom. Whose jet is this?”
“That would be mine.” Paul chimed in. “I am Paul Allen Sr and this here is my Grandson Pauley.” They shook hands.
“Alright, Alexx is in charge of your Medical stuff as well as putting you up until we get this finalized. This is CSI Level I Eric Delko, he is a detective.” He pointed to the dark haired man. “This is CSI level II Calleigh Duquesne, she is also a detective here in Miami.” He pointed to the fair-haired woman. “Show them where your luggage is, they will transport that for you.”
Sara pointed to the luggage compartment on the jet. “It’s in there.”
“I need to head back to the office I am working on an active case, Alexx here will get you all settled in.” Horatio said as he put on his sunglasses and walked away.
Alexx approached Grissom and Sara. “I booked a stay at the Inn on the Lake. It is a nice place for the few days you are here, friends of mine own it.”
“Sounds great.” Sara piped in. “I’m getting tired.”
“How far along are you?” Alexx asked taking note of Sara’s belly.
“Almost eight months. This will be the third.”
“I have three of my own, three boys, wouldn’t trade them for anything.”
Sara turned to see Amy hanging around Pauley. She nudged Grissom. “I think our Amy may have a little crush.” She whispered low.
“Isn’t that cute.”
Paul walked over to Grissom and Sara. “I need to be getting back to finalize some paperwork. I will send the jet back here in what? Two days?”
Sara looked to Alexx. “Make it three just to be safe.”
“Ok, three it is. It was a pleasure meeting you all. Pauley come on we have to leave.”
“Oh Granddad, why do we have to go?”
“I have business to do, come on.”
The boy protested but followed. He turned to wave at Amy. Amy smiled and started giggling.
Grissom looked to Sara and back to Amy. “I think it may be mutual.”
Sara smiled.
