CHAPTER 46
The limo pulled up in the field. They stepped on the tarmac of the Airport. It was isolated but nearly as big as the Las Vegas one. Sara wasn’t quite sure where they were. They were on the outskirts of town and there was a huge house just off to the right of the property.
“Where are we?” Sara asked Atwater.
“Paul Allen Jr’s Estate.”
“Who is Paul Allen Jr?”
“He is a mover and shaker in Las Vegas. His father helped to found Microsoft. They use the jets to fly back and forth installing software. He offered the county the use of his private jet.”
“Wow that’s great.” Sara chimed. “At what expense?”
“None, I guess it is just good PR for them. They have to go to Miami anyhow. Some software to install.”
“Great.” Doc added. “When do we leave?”
“They have to check the preliminaries and fuel the plane and then they can load your luggage and we can go.”
“Ok, so I will go sit in the car and feed the baby.” Sara said. “Come get me when we are ready.”
Sara turned and noticed that a man and a child was approaching.
“Who’s that?” Sara asked.
“Paul Allen Sr and his grandson Pauley. This jet is theirs.”
The man approached. “I’m Paul Allen Sr.” He extended his hand to Grissom. “I hear you need the services of my plane?”
“Yes, thanks.” Sara chimed in.
“Oh, are they coming too?” Amy asked.
“Yes, you and Pauley can play in the arcade.” Mr Allen said.
Mr Allen was a round man who reminded Sara of Santa Claus. He was short, round and jolly. He wore his glasses on the end of his nose and his white beard was full.
“There is an arcade?” Sara asked.
“Yes as well as a dining hall, an entertainment room and two or three private lounges as well as sleeping quarters.”
“Wow.” Sara was amazed.
“The plane is ready, lets go.”
They all walked onto the jet and the luggage was boarded. They all got comfortable and the jet took off.
Paul stood beside Grissom. “Allow me to show you around.”
They walked through the jet.
“This plane is temperature and humidity controlled. We use special air cleaners you should find it alright for breathing Mr Grissom.” He turned and pointed. “Right here is the media room. We have a satellite, television, and DVD player, lots of movie choices. We also have hook ups for internet and telephones. The room next door is the arcade.
Amy squealed. Pauly looked at her. “I’ll take you, I am good at it. All my favorite games.” Amy followed him.
“We fly back and forth a lot, we needed to amuse Pauly.”
“Sounds like he enjoys it.” Gil stated frankly.
“Yes, makes the trip better.”
He proceeded to show them the rest of the plane and then ordered up some lunch.
“You guys eat lunch?”
“No, we were too busy.” Sara stated.
“I just ordered soup and sandwiches from the cook.”
“You have a cook on here?” Gil asked.
“Yes.”
“I’m a vegetarian.” Sara stated.
“I’ll be right back, I will amend that for you.” He left and returned. “She said it would be about thirty minutes. We will lounge in the main room.”
“Alright.” Sara and Grissom said in unison.
