Susan sensed his confusion and wariness. Because his quarters had only
1 chair, she elected to sit beside Marcus on the floor.
"I believe you have something to tell me Marcus," she began. "Or shall
I tell you instead?"

"You have me at a distinct disadvantage here Susan. I don't really
understand any of this at all." She smiled and reached over to stroke
the side of his face as she spoke.

"I know that you were watching me onboard the Whitestar today Marcus. I
know its not the first time you have done so. And I know you're afraid to tell me you have feelings for me, though I don't exactly know why." She removed her hand and sat back awaiting his reply.

Susan soon realized that in anticipation of his answer she was holding
her breath. And so was he!

Marcus exhaled slowly and answered her. "Yes Susan I do have feelings
for you. But I don't enjoyectiection. Or mutilation for that matter. I
thought if I told you......That you'd laugh in my face, maybe try to space me. I don't know. Something awful."

"Told me what?" she moved closer to him. Her eyes never left his face.
"That I love you." Marcus said it quickly and then looked downward at his hands. He was so afraid to look into her beautiful blue eyes and see rejection there.

Had he been looking however, he would have seen those eyes grow soft
and misty.

Susan placed 2 fingers under his chin and lifted his face back up to
look at hers.
"I don't know that I'm in love with you yet. But I have strong feelings
for you too. I haven't had much success in relationships before but I'd like to try again. With you
H
He waterlterly amazed. Not only to hear her accept his love, but to
want to try and return it. It was more than he had ever hoped for.

She moved forward, still holding her fingers under his chin, and softly
kissed him. He returned that kiss just as gently.

When they broke their kiss Susan smiled at him. "Did you know your eyes
change color?"
Laughingly he replied, "They do?"

"Yes. First they were a lovely light green, and then as we spoke they
turned darker green, and after I kissed you they turned blue-green."
Amazed at her attention to this detail he couldn't resist a chance to
play with her.

"Perhaps if you kissed me again they might change to another color?"

The question made Susan laugh. For all the false bravado, he was really
quite nervous and shy with her. She found it charming, and refreshing.

This time Susan kissed him with a great deal more passion. And when
they parted, sure enough his eyes had changed again. Greenish gray. And a thought formed in the back of Susan's mind.

"Are you always so 'chameleon like' with your lovers?" The question was
asked as innocently as she could manage it. She just had to know if
everything were true or not.

"Uh Susan, I need to tell you something," he started. He was blushing
furiously and was obviously uncomfortable and nervou"Som"Something you
should know about me." Marcus had begun to fidget.

she thought, feeling his embarrassment.

"Marcus there's something I should tell you too. I was involved with
someone a couple of years agooughough I've had several relationships with women as well as men, there was one that really changed how I saw a great many things. nam name was Talia Winters. She was the resident Telepath. And for a very brief time, my lover."

She proceeded to explain about the Psi Corps involvement. How Lyta had
come to warn them. About Bester and the deep personality implant. The
betrayal she had felt at loving a lie.

And she told him that she had never discussed it with anyone. Not until now, with him.

Marcus felt deeply the pain she must have suffered. "How sad for you.
And how difficult. To feel such pain and have no one to talk it through with. You needn't ever be afraid to talk to me though."

Susan smiled at him through her tears. .
"Okay Marcus, now tell me your secret."
He took a deep breath and began. "If you are asking if my eyes always change color the more passionate I become, then I can't answer
you. I don't know. I haven't had any lovers, so no one's ever mentioned it before."

"Ah, then I would be your first?" She smiled at him with such tenderness in her eyes that Marcus thought he would cry.

No longer embarrassed or afraid he answered "Yes."

"I am both very glad, and very honored."
"Why?"
"Because you obviously waited for the right time and the right person.
You trust me enough to be that person. And that makes me feel very special."
He smiled at her. His green eyes twinkling.
"You are very special."
