Food = Love

Mike took a deep breath and pulled the door open. "Gentlemen first." he moved back and ushered Zach past. The man wasn't only being polite, but he was scared out of his mind to cross over the protective line made. Once over this he was free game again. He looked at the concrete just inches away from where he had planted his feet and contemplated.

Could he even bring himself to step over it, all those images of being trapped inside his own mind and the things he did flashing in his memory. "Fuck..." he mouthed and closed his eyes. One little step. How could this be so hard, it was ridicules. What were the chances of being possessed twice in one lifetime!? "Ok.. ok just.. ok." he ran his hands through his messy hair and took one big step forth. He now stood a total of three inches from there he had been before.

Upon opening his eyes he looked around, and grinned. Still in control of himself he shrugged his fears off and carried on. He really didn't want Zach to see how much of a pansy he was, he'd for sure rethink that one week offer. "Onward! All is well.." he laughed and made is way toward the car. "Hmm, which one is yours again?"

Zach stepped out the door before Mike and walked straight past his 1967 Charger. The diner was only across the road and it would have been stupid to drive that short distance. So when he heard Mike ask which car was his he turned to him and grinned. Forgetting to be angry and unpleasant for a moment.

"Mike the diner's like right there, I think we'll survive if we walk it" He said with a wink while pointing out the diner over the road. He figured Mike was still a little worried about the demon coming back. He still didn't really understand all the things that had happened to him. So Zach reminded himself to take it slow and try to explain it all to him over breakfast.

"Come on and I'll fill you in on the basics of not getting yourself killed or possessed again while we eat." He said, he didn't mention the fact that even with the basics or more than the basics, the chances were that this life style would kill them both one day. And Zach doubted it would be all that far off. Which reminded him. He really needed to call some people. Find out what the hell was going on and if he was right, if all hell had broken loose. "I gotta make a couple of phone calls also, so remind me to do it once we've talked will you" He added to Mike, cause the way his brain was scrambled right now, he wasn't sure it wouldn't slip his mind.

He shoved his hands down in his pockets and smiled. Turning in the opposite direction than he was headed to go to the diner. "I'm lazy, never walk anywhere now a days." and cars were a whole lot safer in his opinion. So he walked up next to Zach as they took off across the street and into the diner. The smell of food hit his nose and his stomach went to growling. He knew he was hungry but now that food was close he felt like he'd been starved.

"I'm ordering everything on this menu." he almost growled when they were seated and given the plastic covered menus. In which he ordered a cup of coffee, milk, pancakes and a plate called "The Meat Lovers" that had a piece or two of all the breakfast meats they had. "Oh and some apple pie... please and thank you ma'am."

Mike had everything ordered before she even had a chance to pull out her note pad. He rested his elbows on the table and sighed, that cook couldn't have gone fast enough today. "So, what are these things I can do to protect myself?"

Sitting across from Mike in the booth Zach had to laugh at how much food the man was ordering. "Dude you're gonna be sick if you eat all that!" He said with a grin, shaking his head as he turned to he waitress and gave his order of bacon, eggs and toast with coffee. Lots and lots of coffee.

That done he put down the menu and turned back to Mike, his smile slipping just a little. He reached into his jacket and pulled out first a small clear plastic bottle with a squirty top pop up lid. He placed it on the table in front of Mike. Then he pulled out a small silver dagger, he figured that it was best not to pull out the big one he had in his belt. The knife he carefully handed to Mike without anyone seeing it. "Holy water, and silver knife. Hunters gear 101" He said quietly as he looked at Mike.

"Any demon will be burned by holy water and silver. It won't kill them, but it will give you a fighting chance to either trap them or get away. Another thing you'll need is a shot gun. With rock salt rounds. And salt, lots and lots of salt. You know how I told you we were save in that hotel? It's because I sealed it with salt and devils traps." Zach paused he figured Mike might need time to process what he was saying and ask any questions he had as they went. They had a lot to cover, the man had a lot to learn.

"Now, for demons, the holy water and silver are what you need most. As well as knowing how to make devils traps. And for ghosts or evil spirits, which trust me, can be just as nasty if not worse than demons. You'll need salt rounds from the shot gun and anything iron. It again won't kill them, it will dissipate them for a little while. Which is what you might need to keep you alive until you can destroy them."

Zach paused and his eyes moved to the window as he stared out lost in his own thoughts for a moment. He was remembering, against his will, the time last year that the ghost of the first victim he couldn't save while he was hunting came after him. He had survived... just, but his mother had not been so lucky.

He shook himself out of his thoughts and turned back to Mike, "Sorry, got lost for a little bit there. Right any questions so far?"

Mike laughed and shook his head. "Nah you should have seen me when I was younger, probably would have went through every bit of what I ordered plus some." he wiggled an eyebrow and listened very closely to what Zach was telling him. He remembered the way the demon felt when he was splashed by the holy water, so that he stuck in his pocket. The dagger he took in his hand and pulled under the table, trying to keep it hidden from the other folks around.

"So is there like a Hunter-Mart for all this stuff or do I have to make it." he stuck the dagger down in his pocket, having no where better to put it. A belt with dagger holder was a must.. "Devils Trap? how would one make a.... devils trap and I mean ghosts are already dead right, how would you kill it...? Oh and vampires, what about those?"

The waitress walked their way with about 5 plates and he eyed it like it were a.. well, piece of meat. He flickered his eyes upward, warning Zach that she was behind him. It may be strange to hear two grown men going on about vampires and whatnot. But then he noticed, Zach hadn't even been looking at him, but out the window. "So what was that about?" he asked softly. Positioning his food and drinks so there was enough room on the table for it all.

Zach sighed and pondered for a moment if he should tell Mike about his mother. He'd not told anyone about it. Not the truth though. Well he had talked briefly to Sam Winchester, a friend of his, about what had happened to him when he had called to find out if Sam knew what the hell had gone on. Apparently it had been some rising of the witnesses or some shit like that. But other than that Zach hadn't told another living soul about it.

For now however he decided this wasn't the time or the place to get into it. Somewhere where he could punch shit would be a great place for that story. So he smiled and shook his head. "Nothing, just thinking. Ok so yeah somethings you can buy, most you have to make, but its not hard. Holy water just needs to be blessed. Rock salt is easier enough to put into shot gun shells. I'll show you how to do that later today if you want. Same with the devils trap."

Zach paused at the look Mike gave him and gave the waitress a smile as she put down their food. He thanked her and took a long swig of coffee before shoving some bacon in his mouth and continuing. "As for ghosts. Yeah you can destroy them. Its not technically killing them I guess... but at any rate, a ghost or spirit needs something of its physical body still in existence to tie it to earth. So anything from remains to hair, nails, items that belonged to them that could have some DNA on it. To get rid of them once and for all you need to salt and burn what ever remains of them. Be it their bones or what ever."

After that mouthful he shut up long enough to down half of his breakfast in a ridiculously small amount of time. It hadn't been till the first mouthful he'd realised how hungry he was. After he'd satisfied himself enough to slow down he took a gulp of coffee. Now he turned his attention to vampires.

"Ok so vamps aren't really the same as the fictional ones like Dracula. Some things are the same sure. But most of its bullshit. They don't have two fangs where we have canine teeth for example. They had a full second set of teeth that extend down when they feed. And they aren't worried by silver or garlic or that crap. To kill them you have to but off their heads. They do drink blood and dead mans blood won't kill them, but its like poison that will make them weak and sick, easy to kill." He paused for more food and coffee then.

Mike cut into his food, taking medium sized bites and stuffing them in his mouth. He wasn't worried about manners right now. Maybe on any other day but today, no his stomach was in charge and it said feed me now! So he did. And listen, to every single word. It didn't even bother him right now that Zach once again dodged the one question he really wanted answered. The difference a little food made was amazing, starvation has been known to drive folks mad, and now he knew why.

"Sounds good, I'm not a Holy roller if you will, so blessing shit may not be so easy. I mean unless that doesn't matter." he said through a mouth full of pancake. Immediately washing it down with some coffee. As the hot steamy stuff went down he paused. Vampires were not at all how he imagined, or hoped rather. No.. Lestat de Lioncourt' running around to swoon over (damn). Sick, a row of extend able teeth. Was every supernatural creature he ever found fascinating gross and creepier than intended!?

He sat making a shit are you serious , face. "Dead man's blood, like from a man who was alive but is no longer...? You get this how?" he asked, an eyebrow perking at the last word. Finding that it hadn't grossed him out he picked up that fork and went to town on those eggs again. Talk of Dead blood, nails.. hair, or not he wasn't letting this meal go to waste.

Zach smiled as he watched Mike eat like it was going out of style and listening to his questions he took a swig of coffee. God did he love coffee! He could live on the stuff. He gave a wave of his hand as Mike worried about not being able to bless water to make it holy. "Don't worry, all you need is the right Latin from the bible and a set of rosary beads to get the job down. I'll show you how when we get back to the hotel."

He smirked at Mike's reaction to vampires. The look on his face told him he was someone grossed out... and was that a little disappointment he saw in his eyes? Well a lot of folks had romantic views on vampires. Thanks in the most part to myth and fiction. The truth was far less sexy and alluring than most people thought. Vampires where like over grown rats who lived in nests and were scared, filthy and spineless for the most part. It was only the leaders of a coven who had any real power as far as Zach could tell. He hated vampires almost more than he hated anything else on this god forsaken' earth.

"Dead mans blood?" He asked with a raised eyebrow and a grin. "I don't go killin' folk for it if thats what your worried about. Morgue is as gooda place as any to find it. Not hard to fool your way in and grab some if you know the tricks to do it."

Zach leaned back in the booth and ran his hand thought his hair. His head still hurt but the food had really helped and he felt over all a lot better than he had a few moments ago. Though all the talk of vampires had his mind on his sister again. He still didn't know what had come of her and it killed him. The not knowing. It was worse than if he knew she was dead. He sighed to himself and gave Mike a smile to cover up his sadness.

"Alright sunshine, any more questions before we start the first practical lesson?" He asked as he swallowed the last of his coffee and pondered ordering another cup before they left.

Mike felt somewhat relieved over the fact that there wasn't some strange dealings going on with getting Dead Mans blood. He dealt with blood all the time in his line of work, the stuff didn't bother him so much anymore. "As long as we don't go carrying some poor dead chap around in the trunk it's all good." with a small laugh he leaned back and rubbed his stomach. Man was he full. Maybe the pie was a bit much after all. Now among the aches and pains that lingered there was this feeling that he was about to burst.

"Can I go back to bed, is my only question." crawling back in that bed was about the best idea he'd had all morning. "Sleeping off this food sounds really good right about now." choosing not to ask yet again what the sad, almost helpless look was all about.

The hustle and bustle of the diner was picking up quickly seeing as it was prime time for breakfast eaters. He was about ready to get out of there, crowds of strange people made him a little paranoid. "I don't know but maybe we should get out of here and make plans back in the room?" he said through a yawn. Reaching his arms up to stretch.

Zach nodded his head as he yawned straight after Mike. He was right about going back to bed, it was a great idea! "God yes, I could sleep right through till tomorrow I reckon!" He said with a grin as he waved the waitress over and handed her some money for the bill. He had no idea if Mike even had any money on him and he figured it was easier for now not to ask and just pay for both of them.

"Right lets get crackin then good lookin'" He said as he stood up. He had added the good looking before he'd even realised it had been coming. And he groaned inwardly at how easy it was for him to feel comfortable around Mike. It worried him more than it should of because he knew that he never felt comfortable around anyone any more. Not for years. So to find someone who he actually wanted to talk to and spend time with was not something he was at all pleased about. It just proved him right, that it was going to be harder to push this guy away the longer he let him stay. And already he wasn't really wanting him to leave.

The thought of going back to the hotel and crawling into the same bed as Mike, maybe even managing to curl up beside him so he could feel the other mans warmth as he feel asleep was one of the most wonderful thoughts Zach could have come up with if you had asked him to tell you exactly what he would most like to do right now. And so he decided it was exactly what he would try to avoid when they got back. he would make sure he was as far from Mike as he could get in that bed. If it weren't for the no vacancy sign in the window of the small hotel he would have made Mike get his own damn room...

He walked out of the diner and back across the road to the room. Opening it up he walked through the door and chucked the keys on the table before pulling off his shoes and heading to the toilet quickly before he would fall on the bed and pass out for the remained of the day.
