Sara confronts Grissom

Heather kept her eyes on the glass in the interview room. She could feel Grissom back behind the glass watching her. It was as if she could see him; the question in his eyes as she listened to Brass.

"Why did you do it?" He asked.

"To which 'it' are you referring Captain Brass?" She replied in a calm controlled voice.

"Beating Sneller." Brass replied and waited with his fingers laced on the table.

"Revenge is a powerful emotion. It can override the senses and make you lose control. Quite simply i wanted him to feel as much pain as he put Zoe through." her voice never wavered as she spoke.

"Due to some cruel twist of fate Judge West has heard that you are in custody and has ordered you immediate release. The fact that you nearly beat a man to death gets buried per his request."

"Then I'm free to leave?"

"Looks like." Brass replied.

Heather rose from her chair and walked through the open door intent on heading outside. Gill left observation and caught up to Heather.

"Wait." He placed a hand on her shoulder. TO his amazement she didn't shrug it off.

"I didn't call anyone." she said her back still turned to him. This was the second time Gill and Heather were on opposite sides of the glass. The pain sliced at her heart but his hand on her shoulder made the ache less.

"I know." He turned her to face him and smiled lightly.

Heather looked over Gil's shoulder to see the brunette who was the some one from that morning. The brunette, Sara she thought the name was, looked angry in the eyes.

"I'll give you a ride home." Gil said but he noticed Heather wasn't listening.

"There is a woman behind you. She doesn't look really happy."

Gill turned to look at Sara. He saw the look of pain and anger in her eyes but Sara knew how to keep it off her face, but never her eyes. Suddenly he dropped his hand from Heathers shoulder and backed up a step.

"Should I wait outside, or call a cab?" Heather asked.

"Uh, I'll take you home. Just give me a minute to clear this up." He said and turned to face Sara.

"Take ten." Heather replied and headed outside.

Gill motioned for Sara to join him in his office where he could shut the door and close the blinds. He wasn't looking forward to this encounter. Everything that was happening with Sara was new. They had only been on one date. This thing the he had with Heather was so strong it often overrode his senses.

"Don't you have something to say?" Sara asked, there was a tinge of hurt to her voice and all the fury in her eyes.

"I'm sorry doesn't begin to cover it. When I went to find Heather she was beating a man to death and then I stopped her she just fell apart. Since I first saw her I have never seen that from her." Gill stopped and looked at something in the shelf.

"Was I some sort of diversion till you saw her again?" The anger drifted into her voice and Gill noticed her hands had clenched into fists.

"No." It was all he could think of. That wasn't the best but it was all he could do.

" 'No'. That's it; that's all you have to say. Why do I bother?" Sara huffed out a breath and left Gill's office. Gill himself put a few files away and then left the building to take Heather home.

When he walked outside there she was standing on the curb talking to Catherine. 'Great, just what i need now.' Gill thought and walked over to them. Heather turned and smiled at him.

"All cleared up?" Heather asked.

"Yeah. I'll take you home now." Gill looked over at Catherine she looked like she was trying not to grin too hard but was failing miserably.

"Take care Heather." Catherine said and walked back towards the CSI lab.

"I take it we are going back to the Dominion?" Heather asked and waited for Gil to answer. He didn't and just started to walk off towards his SUV.

'This isn't a good sign.' Heather thought and followed him.
