Manny stood up on the stand and his eyes where only for his wife. He had faced lots of different charges and was going to face lots of difficulties. They had faced everything together even this. Every day of his trial Elizabeth Ruiz had come and sat there as all his crimes that he had committed and being charged for where paraded out there. She sat their demurely not saying a word as all his crimes where laid out.
The day he took the stand his eyes where only for his wife as she sat their giving him such a loving look. The crowd actually stopped talking as they noticed the silent by play between the two of them. The jury watched them carefully and they saw Manny give his wife a look that said how clearly he loved her. Elizabeth for her part sitting their dressed demurely in a skirt and a blouse holding Cameron in her lap gave Manny such a loving look it practically took everyone’s breathe away who watched.
The most astonishing part was that Jason Morgan had supported Elizabeth through all of this. He had met with her and it had been bittersweet but she had told him about Manny and he had confirmed it all and then had quietly supported them. When the trial was all over and Manny had been handed a sentence of five years with four and a half years suspended and six months time served Elizabeth had cried a tear rolling down her check.
The judge waved away the guards for a second as Elizabeth had rushed forward and gave him a hug. Her belly showed the obvious signs of pregnancy as she was carrying his child. The Judge in her closing remarks said this “This is the most amazing thing I have ever seen in all my years such a real turn around”.
Manny and Elizabeth with Cameron quietly left the building and where given a personal escort by some of Jason Morgan’s men. They arrived at the airport and took the private plane that was waiting to take them where they first wanted to go. Jason Morgan was right there with them to escort them on the plane. Elizabeth stopped and looked at Jason Morgan and something flashed in his eyes a brief pain of what could have been but was not meant for them. She kissed him briefly and whispered “You will find your one”. She then stepped next to her husband as they left to begin their new life away from Port Charles at least for now.
