******BETRAYAL******
Morwen’s Letter read as follows:
Ronon, I don’t expect you to understand, but I had no choice. Please forgive me for accusing you of being a traitor. I knew were not, however it was the only way I could think of to get you to take me to a Satedan settlement. It just so happened that you took me to Theba.
You may be wondering why I am bringing up treachery at this time , with Wraith Darts flying overhead. Well, I’m responsible for that. I’m responsible for a lot of settlements being culled. You see, there really was a traitor in the gathering tonight. I WAS THE TRAITOR.
Ronon, you told our People tonight that you had been Running for the past seven years, well I too have been ‘Running‘. Unlike you I still have a transmitter implanted in my back. Remember the scar you asked about? Well, that wasn’t a coward’s blow as I had said, it is where my transmitter is located. I don’t have the option of having the transmitter removed. I have no choice but to lead the Wraith to settlements. You see, my Running is from settlement to settlement, ensuring that the Wraith get enough fodder. I can’t tell you why I do this, only that I MUST.
Please Ronon, if you remember our love at all, please don’t go back to Theba. By the time you read this the Darts would have culled most of the people living there. I led you out of the settlement tonight to save you. I knew they were coming, I WANTED TO AT LEAST SAVE YOU.
Morwen
Ronon finished reading the letter with feelings of dread and betrayal. He could not believe that Morwen would willingly betray their People. He couldn’t believe that she had become a Wraith collaborator……..like Kell. The evidence was irrefutable however, as Ronon stood there in shock watching the Darts pass overhead on their way to Theba.
Galvanized into action, Ronon dropped his pack and took off running towards Theba. He knew it was hopeless, even for him, since Theba was at least half an hour away. There was no way he could make a difference in the outcome. The people of Theba would be captured by the time he got there. Nevertheless, Ronon kept running. He could not sit at the glade waiting for the Darts to leave. He had to see for himself the results of Morwen’s betrayal. He had to see the truth for himself.
~I have to try to find her! Surely, if what she wrote is true, then she would have to remain close by in order for the Darts to find the settlement. If I hurry, I can find her before she disappears again. I have to find out WHY!~
As Ronon approached the settlement he passed several people fleeing every which way. Despite the fact that he was still some distance away, he could see the Wraith transport beams raking the buildings and surrounding fields. The three Darts were flying in a grid pattern, trying to capture as many people as possible as they attempted to reach the cover of the forest.
Ronon kept trying to see Morwen in the faces of the fleeing people. He saw one tall, lithe-figured woman fleeing into a stand of trees. He ran towards her thinking it was Morwen, only to be disappointed when he saw her face as she turned around to note the position of the nearest Dart. Turning back towards the settlement, Ronon entered through the gates and surveyed a scene of chaos.
The doors of the buildings were all open as a result of people spewing out in panic. Apparently some people had tried to take belongings, and these utensils and clothing were strewn all around, and trampled under feet. No one was in sight and Ronon crept from building to building, looking for Morwen.
~She has to be here still! HAS TO BE!! At least the Darts are still making passes, so I can still hop a ride if I don‘t find her. One way or another I’m getting to the bottom of this atrocity!!!~
Ronon searched and searched yet he found no sign of Morwen. Soon the sound of the Darts began to diminish. Ronon realized that they were leaving one by one after a final pass. He headed for the open field, hoping that the last Dart would turn to pick him up if he made himself a target. As he ran into the field he saw a woman standing in the middle. It was Morwen.
“Morwen!……MORWENNN!”
Ronon shouted her name as he ran towards her. He watched her turn towards him with a horrified look on her face that almost stopped him in his tracks. She started to run in the direction of the last Dart that seemed to be making a final run that would take it directly over Morwen. Ronon realized then that she intended to be picked up by the Dart and so escape him. He ran even faster, yet knew that he’d still be too slow to stop her from running into the path of the transport beam.
Ronon watched helplessly as Morwen was dematerialized by the transport beam, and taken away as the Dart turned back in the direction of the Gate. He ran a few meters more but soon stopped in exhaustion, to watch as the lights of the Darts disappeared in the distance.
As he stood there he heard the anguished cries and screams of the survivors as they discovered their loved ones missing. The evidence was undeniable, once more Satedans had been betrayed by one of their own. He was no longer an innocent. He had brought a traitor to the settlement, it was his personal responsibility to see that the traitor paid for her crimes! MORWEN SATO MUST DIE!

“OFF WORLD ACTIVATION!”
The technician on duty shouted the alert to Dr Weir, as the Gate came to life and an active wormhole formed. The force shield Iris automatically activated to prevent unwelcome visitors from coming through the Gate.
“Who is it?” Dr Weir replied.
“We’re receiving Ronon’s ID.C.”
The technician stood waiting patiently for the go-ahead to deactivate the shield, as Dr Weir considered her options. Ronon had been gone for three weeks, which was two more than was agreed upon. He could have been captured and his ID.C compromised.
Dr Weir signaled to the security detail to surround the Gate and cover it if required with defensive fire.
“Open the Iris and let him in.” She instructed the waiting technician, who immediately complied.
Ronon step through the Gate one minute later, and strode purposefully towards the Command Center. The Lieutenant of the surrounding security detail stepped in front of him to bar his way. Ronon paused only long enough to growl at him:
“Get out of my way or face the consequences!”
The glare that accompanied the words caused the lieutenant to step back in alarm, especially since Ronon towered over him by a full head, and was known to be just as deadly with his hands as with his gun and sword.
“Give the guys a break!” Colonel Sheppard came jogging into the Gate Room and quickly surmised that tensions were high.
“Listen Ronon, you can’t disappear for three weeks and just waltz back in here without answering a few questions first. You know, like ‘where have you been?’, that kind of stuff.”
Ronon turned his fierce glare on Sheppard, but at the quip he found himself relaxing his stance and dropping his guard.
“I am sorry Sheppard, Dr Weir…..a lot has happened that has once more brought out the beast in me.”
Ronon nodded to Dr Weir in acknowledgement of her presence and to signal his willingness to submit to the security detail. He removed his weapons and submitted to a body search by the Lieutenant as the others looked on.
“I hope you are now satisfied that I have no evil intentions.”
Ronon’s half smile as he said these words helped everyone relax and went a long way to assuring the Atlanteans that he had not been compromised.
He was led to the Conference Room where he was joined by Dr Weir, Colonel Sheppard and the rest of his teammates. They all stared at him expectantly, waiting for him to satisfy their curiosity.
“Ronon, I think you owe us all an explanation for your prolonged absence.” Dr Weir had decided to go straight to the point since everyone seemed to be content to wait.
Ronon looked at the expectant faces, and knew that he needed to provide some answers to them. It was difficult for him to talk about the past three weeks, but he knew that revealing everything was the only way to continue to hold the trust of the Atlanteans.
“It is as you suspect, I have once more been in the capture of the Wraith.”
Ronon had spoken softly as was his norm, however the ensuing din left no doubt that he had been heard. It was impossible to continue speaking since several of his ‘friends’ were now shouting for the security, while Sheppard quickly drew his side arm and trained it on the center of Ronon’s chest.
Ronon made no attempt to defend himself, he simply kept his hands visible on the table and waited.
“John please! Let’s hear him out.” Dr Weir had held on to Sheppard’s arm to restrain him from closing on Ronon. She nodded to Ronon to continue his story.
“As I had said when I left here, my intention was to try to find some old friends. I followed the usual precaution of first going to a safe planet before dialing the coordinates to Arsimia, so that the coordinates to Atlantis would not be known.
All was going according to plan, until I stepped out of the Gate on Arsimia, straight into the transport beam of a Wraith Dart on a culling expedition. I awoke on a Hive ship and along with an old friend escaped by ………………………………...........”
The others listened intently as Ronon told them about Morwen Sato and explained that she had once been his lover on Sateda. His bitterness was unmistakable and puzzled the others until he told them about her deception and eventual treachery. He explained that the past two weeks had been spent searching for answers to explain Morwen’s behavior. He had been able to track down people who knew her, but they all confirmed what he already knew: wherever Morwen went, the Wraith seemed to follow soon after.
“………So, I’m back now. I realize that I may never see Morwen again, but I’m still going to keep looking. That’s something I can do while on missions with Colonel Sheppard and the rest of the team.”
Ronon finished his story and looked at the stunned faces. The silence was deafening, until Dr Weir finally, mercifully, broke it.
“Ronon, are you sure you can give a hundred percent to the team? Are you sure you don’t need some time to sort out your feelings for Morwen? She was very important to you and honestly, I don’t think you should suppress your feelings of hurt and betrayal.”
“Dr Weir, I thank you for your concern, but Morwen Sato means nothing to me anymore. It is my intention to execute her for her crimes against Sateda and humanity!”
Ronon’s pronouncement shocked everyone gathered in the Conference Room. They could not fathom how a man could possibly hope to kill a woman with whom he was obviously still in love.
“Ronon surely…..”
“Excuse me Dr Weir, but am I now free to return to my quarters?”
Ronon’s interruption of Dr Weir left no doubt that he wished the subject of Specialist Morwen Sato closed. He waited only until she nodded her acquiescence to leave the room and head for his quarters retrieving his weapons from the security detail as he went.
The others watched him leave and each surmised that there were rough times ahead. Ronon on a good day was impulsive and trigger happy, and yet……controllable. What will it be like to have angry, vengeful Ronon around?
