Two hours later Becca stepped out of the Women’s locker room with Sam, both in full gear. Becca’s nerves were humming; she hadn’t been on nearly as many missions as the others and still got butterflies every time she stepped through the event horizon. After two years in the program, she was still in awe of it.

Standing at the base of the ramp, she felt hands on both of her shoulders. One hand was strong and powerful, Teal’c, the other was unmistakably Daniel because it sent shivers down her spine. Both were there as protective gestures, both men remembering a particular mission about one year earlier.

Sam stood in front of her, “You are with one of us three at all times, understood?”

“Yes ma’am, not a problem,” Becca replied.

Daniel’s hand moved to the small of her back and he gave her a gentle prod, “Here we go.”

Side by side, the four headed up the ramp following the MALP. SG-13 took up the rear. ‘God Speed’, Jack though as he watched them disappear from the control room.
****************************

It was still dark out when they arrived and they used the opportunity to head straight for the temple.

When they arrived, Sam decided they should set up camp inside so they would be out of sight.

Patience not being one of Becca’s virtues she could feel protest bubbling up inside her, apparently it was written all over her face too because she was getting “the look” from Daniel.

She sighed and set to work unloading her stuff. After they were settled, Becca and Daniel headed down the long corridors that lead to the anti-chamber holding the wall.

Becca took a deep breath before they rounded the last corner trying to anticipate her reaction to what they were about to see.

The corridor opened up in front of them into the chamber, the ceiling above them was easily twenty or more feet high, she was reminded of the first time she set foot in an Egyptian pyramid, except that instead of blank walls there was writing everywhere all in one language until you got to the back wall which was in fact divided into four distinct sections.

She thought she could handle the sight before her with clinical objectivity but her knees had other plans giving out on her, Daniel was expecting this and caught her under the arms lowering her gently to sit Indian style in front of it. “Never fails does it Bec?”

“I can’t help it. Just look!” she said with a sweep of her hand.

“I know,” Daniel replied patting her on the head.

Becca took a minute to recover then they pulled out books and laptops and got to work. Sam and Teal’k had taken watch and were doing sweeps around the perimeter. The group met up three hours later to eat and sleep in shifts.

The next morning they were back at it having finished all the translations, they were now working on the code.

Becca’s head popped up and she said, “No, it can’t be that simple!” Standing and moving towards the wall, she reached out to press a spot that would test her theory and Daniel’s hand caught her wrist.

“Explain first,” he said, it was not a request.

She went over it with him, he double checked her calculations and then nodded, “Okay, go ahead.”

“Thank you, Obi-Wan” she said sarcastically. She pressed on the wall and dust flew as a door that hadn’t been opened in centuries slid apart down the center seam of the wall. In front of them were stairs leading up and passages to either side.

She did not wait for discussion but grabbed a flashlight and headed up leaving Daniel no choice but to follow. At the top of the stairs was another chamber and on a dais in the center sat an intact and apparently fully functional ZPM.

Becca gasped and Daniel’s jaw dropped. “Holy Shit!” they said in unison. “Merry Christmas Atlantis!” Becca giggled, grabbing him in a spontaneous hug.
