Chapter Four

Opening her eyes, Sara met his gaze. “Morning, sweet,” he said, tracing the outline of her lips with his finger. “Sleep well, did you?”

“Amazingly well,” she said, curling in toward his body. “You?”

Grissom kissed her forehead. “I did.....well, that is, when you let me sleep.” He playfully tousled her hair, the curls a tangled mess splattered on the white pillowcase beneath her head.

“If I remember correctly,” she sighed, “One of those times I was the one sleeping soundly and you pounced on me...”

“Well, yes, you were sleeping, but I can explain. See, the sun was just coming up, and well...the light dancing on your skin and the way you looked so delicious lying there...I just couldn’t help myself. And you can...”

“Would you just shut up and kiss me, Grissom?” she said, pulling his mouth to hers. Even though she’d now kissed him many times before, it always seemed to send a spark through her. He was a man who definitely knew how to use his lips. “You know, since we are here, and awake, and it’s not quite time for lunch...”

Taking the bed sheet in his hands, he rolled atop her and pulled it over their heads, the sound of their laughter, soon followed by the groans of pleasure filling the room...

“Where should we take this?” Grissom said, handing the picnic basket that had been packed for them to Sara as he folded the blanket over her arm.

“I know the perfect place,” she said, taking his hand. The small park was just off campus; not that many people frequented it during the day, especially a weekday. Grissom’s stint at the conference was completed, and Sara had agreed to show him some of the more ‘out of the way’ sights in Boston.

Trotting through the field of wildflowers, Sara led him into a grove of tall oak trees, just out of view of the rest of the park. Taking the blanket from over his arm, he spread it in the shaded area beneath the tall trees.

“Too bad this is our last day here,” Sara sighed, looking out over the peaceful area. It’s been...”

“So wonderful here,” he completed.

Sara knelt down and started to smooth the blanket, then began to pull the lunch that was prepared for them from the basket. “There’s plenty of fresh fruit, some sandwiches...what are you hungry for?”

Gil dropped to his knees in front of her and grabbed her hands from the basket. “Only you.”

She laughed and allowed him to tumble over her across the blanket. As the sky revolved overhead, he pressed her into the blanket, and only the sun and trees overhead watched as he peeled off her clothes.

He took his time undressing Sara, kissing her all over as each inch of skin was uncovered. At last she lay naked beneath him. “My beautiful Sara, I love you,” he said, brushing her hair away from her face. Leaning down to kiss her tenderly, his lips set fire to the blood coursing through her veins. Her eyes seemed to fill with sunlight as he touched her, the gentle breeze lifting wisps of her hair to caress his face. “You are my angel,” he whispered, leaning down to stare into her eyes.

Although still fully dressed in his polo and jeans, Grissom stroked her body, admiring each curve. Her skin was like porcelain, sensitive to even the slightest brush of his fingertips. She lay almost motionless, smiling, relaxed, and completely trusting of him and his actions. “You’re a wee bit overdressed,” she cooed, pulling the shirt over his head. “It’s going to be quite hard to accomplish anything with these clothes still on you.” Letting her hands slide to his waistband, she giggled. “But it’s a good thing that ‘it” is hard...makes for a better time.”

Her words caused him to smile, and he flipped her atop him to aid her in the removal of his pants. Gil nuzzled into her neck, smothering her throat with kisses. When her breasts became too tempting to bear, he found her nipple in his mouth, the scent of her body filling his head like an aphrodisiac.

“I love you,” she said, reveling in the ease in which they worked together in making love. “I love your body and your spirit. I love the things you do to me and the things you make me think about...but most of all, I love the way you make me feel about me.”

He gave her a big smile as she felt him thrust inside her. “Sara, I can be a bit of a dumb ass at times, but I promise you, I want to be a better man, and it’s because of you.” Smiling, she pulled him into a passionate kiss, their bodies working in time to achieve release.

Hours later, the two lay spooned on the blanket. Having dressed and eaten lunch, they were watching the sunset. “Grissom, what happens now?” she asked, turning her head slightly to catch a glimpse at him.

“What do you mean?” he whispered, kissing her forehead.

“When we get back home...I mean, I know how you aren’t really the biggest fan of people knowing what is going on in your personal life, and well, I don’t want to cause you any grief...if you want to keep this a secret...”

Wrapping his hand around her face, he covered her mouth, and then turned her to face him. “My sweet, sweet Sara,” he said before pausing. “I really don’t care what anyone thinks anymore. Once we get back home, if I want to take you out to dinner and kiss you while we’re there...so be it.”

Taking her into another passionate embrace, he kissed her gently. “I love you, and Sara, I’m ready to announce it to the world.”

Sara could only smile as she realized that for once, all of her dreams were coming true.
