Author's Notes: Charlie misses Don. Inspired by Shannon Noll “Lonely”. Short dialogue. Enjoy!

“Where are you right now?”

“At the hotel, it’s raining here. But what did I expect!”, Don chuckles.

“When will you be back?”

“I don’t know actually, soon I hope.”, Don answers and inhales deeply. “Doesn’t seem like the guy is easy to catch.”

Charlie can hear a banging on the door in the background.

“Hold on a sec, Charlie.”

There is a little pause.

“Don! Boston Police traced our guy to a bar!”

It’s Cooper’s voice. Charlie swallows down the rock in his throat. He takes a look out of the window. The leaves have turned brown, yellow and red, he sees his father outside in the front garden, collecting fallen leaves and stuffing them in a huge grey sack. It is only for this one time. Only this once that Don has accepted a job outside of L.A. Cooper is with Don now and Charlie isn’t. Nervously, he shoves a black curl out his eyes.

“Okay, Coop, I’m coming.” Don speaks into the receiver, his voice sounding clearer again. “Charlie? You there?”

“Yeah, I’m here.”

“I’m sorry, buddy, I gotta go! If we catch this guy today I’ll be one my way home tonight.”

Charlie nods, not aware of the fact that Don can’t see him.

“Charlie?”

“Yeah, okay, I’ll wait for you.”

“I’ll call you, okay?” Don pauses. “Love you.”

Charlie smiles.

“Love you.”, he repeats after Don and hangs up.
