ch 37
Doc Robbins came over immediately, he knew Hantavirus wasn’t to be messed with.
Doc approached the door and rang the bell.
Amy rushed to the door to answer it.
“Doc, what are you doing here? What’s wrong with dad?” Amy’s fears resurfaced as she waited for him to speak.
“I am here to check on him, it’s a precautionary.”
Before Doc Robbins could shut the door Sara pushed her way into the house with Catherine on her heels.
“Nice to see you too, Sara.” Doc joked.
“I need to see Gil, what is wrong with Gil?” Sara was in hysterics.
“Sara calm down.” Doc started. “This isn’t good for the baby.”
Sara took a deep breath as she rushed into the bedroom. Greg was pacing the floor.
“Greg, you are going to wear a hole in the carpet.” Doc laughed as he approached Greg.
“I’m worried, should he be coughing?”
“I’m not sure. What happened Greg?”
“Well I came in to check on him and he just started coughing.”
“Is that all?”
“Yes.”
“Why don’t you take the kids to the park, they don’t need to be here.”
“Sure thing, neither do I.”
Greg approached the living room. “Come on girls, Uncle Greg is taking you to the park.”
“Why?”
“Just because, come on.”
Doc Robbing went on to examine Gil. Catherine was there with Sara, she refused to leave his side.
“Sit up Gil; I need to check your lungs.”
Gil sleepily sat up only to fall back onto the bed.
“Gil.” Sara screamed.
“Sara it’s okay.” Catherine assured her, “Why don’t we go out to the living room?”
“No, I’m not leaving him.”
“Sara, can I talk to you over here, please.” Doc asked approaching the corner.
“Sara, you need to calm down. You need to be calm so Gil is calm; it is for his own good.”
“Alright Doc, what do you suggest?”
“Offer him some comfort.”
“Alright.”
Sara helped Doc got Gil upright again. She began to lovingly rub his back.
“Come on sweetie, help us out.” Sara cooed.
“Tired, so tired.” He mumbled.
“Come on Gil, just for a minute.” He opened up his eyes a bit.
Doc took out his stethoscope. “Breath in.” He listened attentively. “Breathe out.”
“Doc, is he ok?” Sara asked.
“Do you need some oxygen, Sara?” Catherine joked.
“I think he just had a rough day. The hospitals are full of viruses.”
“So can you help him?”
“What’s going on?” Grissom asked confused.
“Nothing much, you are just being a pain in my butt.”
“I am not a pain in the bu…” He was asleep again.
“I’m going to let him sleep for a few minutes, Sara.” Doc said.
“Ok.”
“Can we talk elsewhere?”
“Sure, the living room is vacant.”
Sara bent down to kiss Grissom before she left and whispered ‘I love you” in his ear.
They all sat on the couch together.
“Sara, I’m going to increase his oxygen and give him an antibiotic injection.”
“Ok, thanks Doc. What is really wrong with him?”
“This is going to continue happening Sara until you can get him out of the Vegas climate. You need to get him to Miami as soon as possible.”
“I have a problem with that.” Sara sobbed.
“What’s that?”
“WE need a private plane. The commercial ones are too detrimental to his health.”
“Yes, I agree with that.”
“We can’t afford a private plane. What am I supposed to do? I can’t lose him…I can’t.”
“If you need anything else, Sara, Please call me.”
“Thanks Doc.”
“I’m going to wait until Gil wakes up to give him his injection.” I also want to keep an eye on you for a while.
