ch 36

"I have a home pregnancy test in my brown leather suitcase. Could you get it for me, please?" I had a suspicion, what is he going to do? What is he going to say? Oh no!

He was shocked. "Wha...Sure." He said as he left the room. Pregnancy? Does that mean baby? Sara's Pregnant? He soon returned and passed the box to Sara.

"Thanks."

"Sara." He asked not knowing what to say. What are we going to do? Are we ready for this?

"It's alright, baby. I just want to see if it's morning sickness I have or the flu." Sara tried to reassure Grissom with a smile.

"Morning Sickness?" He muttered short of breath. He felt faint.

Sara followed the instructions on the box and waited for the allotted time.

Grissom paced the living room floor. I don't know how to be a dad? What will I do? What will we do?

Sara emerged from the bathroom. "Griss do you know if there's a doctor in the area who can do a pregnancy test?"

He swallowed hard. "Not sure, why?"

"Because if the test is accurate. We’re going to be parents."

He had to sit down before he fell down. "In most cases those are 99% effective in determining pregnancy." He took a deep breath. "Parents, egah." He was trying to sound excited as the fear pushed into his voice.

"I'd still like a confirmation one way or the other," Sara explained. That way I won't get my hopes up only to have someone burst my bubble.

"We can call around; there is a clinic in town."

Sara pinched her nose. "Did you happen to see any crackers around the kitchen? I'm still feeling a bit nauseous."

"I think there are some. Let me go check." He returned with a sleeve of soda crackers passing them to Sara.

Sara smiled briefly as she slowly began nibbling on one. She limped over to the sofa again.

"Sara." He began. "Let me help you." Sara gave him a smile and cuddled into Grissom as much as she could.

"Do you want me to see if I can find a clinic for you?" He asked brushing her hair with his fingers.

"Could you?" Sara asked softly.

"Sure." He said getting up. He returned in a few minutes with a name. "There is a clinic downtown; they will run a test for you later today." He sat back down beside Sara.

'You'll come with me...right?"

"If you want me to."

"Need you to hold my hand, Griss," Sara said matter-of-factly. "I've always had an issue with doctors."

"Then I will be there and hold your hand."

Did I say I had a thing with doctors? "Thanks, b...thanks, Griss." Sara said, kissing his cheek lightly. She turned her attention back to the TV.

He laughed lightly. "I will always be there for you." He looked at the TV. "What are you watching?

"Was just about to see what else there was."

"Ok."

"What do you think about this?" Sara was looking at a Charleston Hesston movie.

"Looks good."

Sara settled herself against Grissom's chest, breathing through another bout of nausea.

"So the doctor wants you there by one." He said as he pulled her towards him.

"I think we can manage that," Sara murmured as she softly sighed in contentment.

"I mean us." He corrected himself. "Which Heston movie was this again?" He asked watching the movie.

'The Greatest Show on Earth. Has Jimmy Stewart in it too."

"I thought I recognized it,” He said looking at Sara. "How are you feeling?"

"Still feeling a little nauseous."

"I'm sorry for that, Honey."

Why? I'm not sorry you made me pregnant. Sara smiled, lightly kissing the tip of his nose before nibbling on another soda cracker. Her mind started to daydream about what it would be like to have Grissom's baby.

"If I could do it for you, I would." He smiled at her

"Hm?" Sara snapped back, looking sheepish. "Sorry, I was daydreaming."

"What were you dreaming about?" He asked coyly.

"You know...marriage, kids...” She felt like she had to throw up again. She said sheepishly," Sorry, baby. Need the bathroom again."

He watched as she ran to the bathroom. He grabbed her glass of water and met her at the door. Sara wordlessly took the water and swished it around in her mouth. She automatically brought it up again, this time in the sink.

When she was done, she sank to the floor again.

"Are you ok?" He asked. "I’m going to get your coat; we are having you checked out now."

Sara hauled herself to her feet. Grissom helped her with her jacket and they went to the car. Sara had to hold on to Grissom's arm because of her leg, but also because she wanted to be close to him. He opened the passenger door and helped her in rushing to the other side and starting the engine.

"Grissom.... you don't have to break any speed limits," Sara told him with a small smile.

"I just want you to get checked out, I'm worried."

Sara took his free hand in hers, giving it a squeeze. "Everything's going to be okay."

I hope so. I'm so worried. I don't want to lose her. "I hope so."

""Where do you want to get married? In a church?"

"I'm not really religious, so it doesn't really matter."

"I'm interested in what you want, Grissom."

"I don't want a lot of people, the smaller the better."

"Okay, baby." Sara soothed him.

"Were here." He said pulling into a spot in the clinic parking lot. Sara opened her door, making Grissom frown at her. He rushed around to help her out. "Do you want me to get you a wheelchair?"

"I just want to hold on to you."

Sara looked around for the ER while she held Grissom's elbow. He asked at the desk for the doctor. He returned with the paperwork he had to fill out. Confused by what to put.

"Need some help there?" She asked as he was staring at the papers in his hand.

"Whose insurance do we use?" He asked.

"I'll use mine."

"Are you sure? It will be my baby too."

"I know. We'll have to worry about that when we do get married."

Right, were not married. "You're right."

Sara lightly kissed his cheek. "Don’t worry, sweetheart. We'll talk all about that."

He was confused completely. "Alright, I'm going to sit down. You coming?"

"One sec." Sara signed her name and then joined him in the waiting room. He grabbed her hand and held it between his. "You look confused," Sara said softly.

"I am." He said frankly. "This is all happening so fast."

Sara took a deep breath. "We don't have to get married right now and I don't have to move in with you."

"No. I want this. It is just all happening so fast. I'm sorry."

"Don't be." Sara patted his hand and reached for a magazine.

"It is all new to me."

"Me too." Sara didn’t' look up, but she smiled.

"I'm nervous, scared and excited all at the same time."

"Me too, baby."

"Are we ready for this, Sara? Are we ready to be parents?"

I...I'm not...I'm terrified! I wanted this but I never thought it would happen.

"Miss Sidle? They're ready for you," the nurse interrupted right at that moment.

"Still want me to come with you?"

Sara kept a hold on Grissom's hand. "This involves you too."

He got up and followed her into the office. Sara’s blood was drawn and then she and Grissom were left to wait for the results. He was pacing the floor.

"Griss, you're making me dizzy."

"I'm sorry. I pace when I'm nervous."

"Grissom..." Sara trailed off, and then changed her mind. She leaned against the wall, feeling light-headed.

"I'm sorry, Sara."

"For what?"

"Just being me. You deserve more."

He sat down and beckoned for her to sit beside him. Taking her hand in his. He rubbed the back of her hand.

"But I want you." Sara's voice broke and she tried to control her emotions.

"I just hope that I don't disappoint you."

Maybe it's too fast...maybe I shouldn't move in with him.

"Sara, I love you so much, but I need a few minutes to figure this stuff out." Don't you dare run? Your father did it to you. Don't do that to her. She deserves better.

"I understand."

"I'm not running. I promise you that. But I need to analyze this."

"Analyze away." Sara was feeling exhausted, physically and emotionally. She closed her eyes.

Congratulations, you pissed her off. You stupid ass. You are going to lose her if you don't do something soon. "Sara, honey. Are you ok?"

"Mhm." She moaned. "Just a little tired."

"I worry about you."

Her lips turned up in a smile even though her eyes stayed closed. "I'm okay, Grissom."

"I came to a decision, Sara."
