"Sara." Grissom sobbed.
Sara woke up from a sound sleep to hear Grissom murmuring and sobbing in his sleep. It was then that she realized how the experience on the ice had scared Grissom. She also realized it was going to take a while to help him get over it.
He turned to look into her eyes. "Are you real?" He asked softly. Sara took his hand and put it on her face. "It was awful, Sara. It felt so real."
"You’re safe now, Grissom. It's alright," Sara said, hoping that if he heard her voice, it might help.
"I don't want to lose you." He spoke frankly, his fears evident in his voice.
"I’m not going anywhere, Doc." She attempted to reassure him.
"I know that in my heart, Honey, but kindly tell my subconscious that, please." Sara softly sighed as she held Grissom in her arms. "Will you hold me till I fall asleep again?"
"I'll hold you for the rest of your life, Gil Grissom."
He smiled. "I was hoping you would."
Sara kissed him. "We'll talk about me moving in when you wake up...There's a few questions I have about my furniture."
"Alright" he said as he drifted off again. I have everything. I have Sara, I love her, why is this so hard?
When he woke up later that afternoon, he was slightly disoriented at first when he felt the warm body pressed against him. He soon discovered that it was Sara she was nestled into him with childlike trust.
"Umm." He purred as he touched her soft skin. "I could definitely get used to this." Even the way she had her arms around him were child like. "So when are you moving in with me?" He asked.
"When we get back?" was the sleepy reply.
"As soon as we get back?" He began to panic.
"To Las Vegas." Sara was incoherent.
He calmed himself down. "Good. I don't think I could sleep without you."
"Hmm....glad I'm not the only one, Doc." A sleepy smile.
"I need you to chase away my demons." He said giving her a kiss.
What if I can't? "It's going to be fine, Doc. We'll help each other," Sara told him.
"Don't you want to just try living together first?"
"I don't want to lose you so I'm willing to do it all. Whatever you want. If you want marriage and babies, that's what we will do."
Sara took his face in her hands. "What about what you want, Griss?" she asked softly.
"I want you to be happy. I want what you want." Sara kissed him. "So what do you want?"
The reply was simple, but honest. "You."
"Even with all my imperfections?"
She kissed his earlobe, whispering in his ear, "I love you. I have for eight years."
He grinned. "I know what that's like. Try hiding it. That shit ain't easy. So my dear, what do you want to do now?"
"This" Sara said, barely audible as she kissed him deeply.
"Umm, good choice." He murmured.
"So how many babies are we talking?" He joked.
"Three at the most."
"Three, are you trying to give me a coronary? At least it isn't five; I guess I should be glad." He kissed her again. "Whatever my love. I'm game for anything as long as it is with you. Is there anything else you want to see in Colorado?"
You don't have the energy for it all.... "Let’s just start with the TV here in the cabin, huh?"
"Umm sounds good. But I don't want to move."
"I will."
"But I don't want you to move either. I'm greedy; I don't want to share you." He pulled her in tighter to him.
"I have to use the little girl's room, Griss...” I have to do that more often these days too, what is wrong with me?
"I guess I'll make an exception for that. But hurry back." He smiled coyly.
Sara hauled herself to her feet and limped heavily to the bathroom.
"Do you need me to help you?" he asked. "I forgot about your leg."
Sara was already disappearing around the corner.
He got up and followed her to the bathroom and knocked on the door. "Are you alright, Honey or do you need a hand."
There was a crash followed by loud cursing.
Grissom knocked harder on the door. "Sara are you ok?"
No response.
