ch 33
“Gil, get up.” Sara commanded. “You are going to the doctor.”
“NO.” He covered his head up.
Sara pulled the blanket off of him. “Gil.”
“Sara, leave me alone.”
“Get up, get dressed and come on.” Sara huffed.
“NO.”
“Dad, please.” Amy pleaded. “I can’t lose you too.”
“It is only the flu.”
“Doc thinks it is something called Hantavirus.”
“What is that?” Grissom quizzed.
“I don’t know, but it doesn’t sound good.”
“Please dad.” Amy cried.
“Gil, please humour me. I care about you, please let me take you to the doctor. We will see what is wrong with you and see what this Hantavirus is. Please Gil, for me…”
“I am too tired to fight you.”
“Good. Aren’t you getting dressed?”
“I am dressed. I’m covered. I have on a shirt and pants. Where are my shoes? What about my coat, I’m freezing.”
“I’ll get them.” Sara said. His fever must be making him cold.
“Amy can you please get Sam dressed.”
“Sure mom. I’ll pack her a bag too.”
“Thanks sweetie.”
Sara got Grissom dressed and they all piled into the truck.
The drive to the hospital was fast and quick. Sara nearly broke every speed limit in Clark County. She pulled up in front of Desert Palm hospital and helped him out. She got the kids out and wandered inside.
She left the truck in front of the building.
“My husband is sick.” Sara said as she approached the desk.
The nurse sat there curling her hair around her finger. “What seems to be the problem?”
“He is sick.” Sara was curt. “Help him dammit.”
“Calm down mame.” The nurse began.
“He is my husband! I think he may have something called Hantavirus.”
“Oh my. I’ll get the doctor.”
I don’t like her reaction to that. Poor Gil. He had better be ok. I can’t lose him.
Grissom sat down. He was out of breath and still tired.
The doctor took him in immediately and did blood tests and ran some other tests.
“Sara, I feel like a human pin cushion.” Grissom protested.
“It is for the good of your health so suck it up.” She smiled at him.
