CHAPTER 32
Doc rushed right over. He knew how much of a stubborn ass Grissom was. He saw it when he was losing his hearing, it had nearly been too late to correct that, he hoped it wasn’t too late this time.
He rang the bell and Amy answered the door.
“You must be Doc.” Amy stated frankly.
“Yes, you must be Amy.”
“Yes. Are you here to help dad?”
“Yes, I am. Where is he?”
“In the bedroom. I hope he is ok. I can’t lose him too.”
I hope he is ok too.
Doc walked into the bedroom, Sara was sitting on the bed beside him holding Sam.
“Hello, Sara. You look like you could use some sleep.”
“Yes, I wouldn’t be so tired if somebody wasn’t sleeping so much and helped me a bit.” She looked over to Grissom’s sleeping form.
“What are his symptoms?” Doc asked.
“He says it is the flu, but it is no flu like I have ever seen. He has no energy and all he does is sleep.”
“Is he running a fever?”
“A little one.”
“What else?”
“Tired, sleeping all the time. You know flu.”
“Ok. Does he complain about anything else, muscle aches, nausea, anything?”
“Not really. He says he doesn’t feel good and all he wants to do is sleep.”
“Where has he been lately?”
“Just to work. He was caught in that sandstorm a week or so ago. Could that be causing it?”
“Where was that?”
“In the desert. Where is this going?”
“You need to get him to a doctor immediately, Sara.” His tone was serious,
“Why Doc?”
“I think he may have Hantavirus.”
“What is that?”
“There is no time, Sara. The doctor will explain it to you.”
“Doc, is he going to be alright?”
“I hope so, Sara.” I hope so…
