Running
Title: Running
Author: scots_rock
Pairing: Don/Charlie
Fandom: NUMB3RS
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 266
Disclaimer: Not mine. This is fiction.
Feedback: Awesome.
Author's Notes: It’s raining in L.A. Inspired by the tons of liters of water that has come down in the last few days here in Germany. Enjoy!
The noise is so loud that Charlie thinks his ears are going to burst every second, and the flashes of light every few moments is so bright that he is sure he’s going to be blind eventually. The rain keeps on hammering down onto his body, his jacket is not able to protect him from the water, although he has the hood over his head. He’s cold, so cold, his feet are swimming in his shoes, the rain finds every hole in his clothes to leak through, soaking his whole body. His hair is glued to his forehead, some visible curls shining in the lights of the streetlamps.
Charlie feels heavy, as if someone has loaded a huge rock onto his shoulders. It’s the rain, it’s his bent figure, trying to avoid the drops. He knows it sounds crazy, you can’t really avoid getting wet in a rain storm, but it helps him to carry on somehow, imagining that somehow he won’t get that wet. It seems the blood in his veins has stopped flowing for he suddenly can’t feel the muscles in his face anymore, it sends shivers down his neck and arms.
The only thing he really feels, and which is the only thing that doesn’t make it look like a dream, is Don’s hand around his, pulling Charlie after him. Don’s in a run and Charlie is forced to do the same, hoping to get home soon.
Don’s hand is firm around his, and it’s warm, it warms Charlie’s. He will never forget this night, the night they were running through the rain.
