“Well here we are at last.” The Doctor put special emphasis on the ‘last’ part as he opened the door to the TARDIS.

“Hey I needed clothes. Shopping was a priority beside what kind of father lets his daughter run around in the same clothes she was cloned in?” Cat teased though she had really enjoyed shopping with Jenny. “Of course that is unless you wanted us running around naked.”

“No. no. NO!” The Doctor said shaking his head and moving away from Cat like she had some sort of diseased or something.

“Cat those jeans look good on you.” Jenny said joining them out side of the TARDIS.

“And I told you those black BDUs were right up your alley.” Cat said before the two looked around then linked arms. “Okay Doctor where are we?” She asked as she stood staring at the giant wrote iron gates a second before lighting flashed and lit up a sign saying Karloft land.

“The planet of Karloft. I told you I was taking you guys to an amusement park.” He said all smiles now.

“Looks like a horror park.” Cat said.

“Well that would be closer to the truth. You see Boris Karloft’s great great grandson married Vincent Price’s great great granddaughter and together they started buying the rights to every horror movie either of the ancestors sneezed at and them some. Some time later their descendents bought this planet and set up an amusement park dedicated to the macabre.” The Doctor stated.

“No sorry they have nothing on the Master of macabre.” Cat said. “Lo! Death has reared himself a throne, In a strange city lying alone, Far down within the dim West, Where the good and the bad and the worst and the best, Have gone to their eternal rest.” Cat smiled though when she saw the Doctor opening his mouth she thought she would have pity on him. “That is the true master of all things that go bump in the night. Also Doctor as we are here I figured I’d remind you that our little bet is now in play.”

“I was not going to say that word I was going to remark on the fact that someone your age would know any other poem by Edger Allen Poe that isn’t the Raven.” The Doctor pushing the girls a part and offering his arms so there was one on each side of him.

“Anyhow let’s go I want to see what an amusement park is all about.” Jenny said. “And dad, please pay the last time you got us in free it didn’t work out so well.”

“But it was fun.” The Doctor said with a smile.

“Yea it was.” Jenny said as the three of them walked forward.

“You guys are nuts. I just wanted you to know that.” Cat said causing the Doctor to smile as he paid there way into the park.

“Yea but you know you love us.” The Doctor said before picking up a computerized map of the park. “Were to first? The Salem witch village, Dracula’s Castle and roller coaster or Escape from the Mummy’s tomb.”

“Oh I so Vote roller coaster.” Cat said with a smile. “Besides Jenny will like it being her first time at a place like this.”

“Would you like a holographic picture for the happy family?” A girl asked bouncing up to them. She was way too happy for all the black she was warring.

“Oh Yes I would love a picture with my dad and new mom.” Jenny said ignoring the glares from both the Doctor and Cat. “You two stand there next to each other and I’ll kneel in front. Smile guys.”

“Aww now isn’t the cute. I love how your step mom put her hand on your shoulder. Usually there are problems when the daughter and new wife are close to the same age.” The girl said handing them their photo. She didn’t see that Jenny was rubbing her shoulder where Cat had been squeezing it.

“No my wife and daughter were best friends before I fell madly in love with her isn’t that right cupcake.” The Doctor said joining in on Jenny’s fun and rapping his arm around Cat’s waist.

“Sure is teddy bear. Though to tell the truth I’ve been play mother to poor Jenny long before we got married. You know how men are, no child rearing instincts.” Cat said causing Jenny to snicker.

“Well we do have a honeymoon suite if you are planning to stay the night. Might the boss throw it in for free? I’ll talk to him while you go and enjoy the rides.” She said before turning and bouncing away.

“Glade you guys had fun.” Cat almost growled as she stepped away from the doctor. “Now I’m going to go ride a roller coaster.”

“Wait up Cat I’m coming with you.” Jenny said running to catch up with the girl. “Hey you know I was picking right.”

“Of course I, I mean it’s just weird is all. I barley know your father so a little warning before coming up with a cover story like that. Would have been better to say we were both his daughters or his daughter and her friend.” Cat said with a sigh. “Just half the time I don’t know how to act around him. I feel like a stupid freak since this whole thing began. Kind of wish the Daleks had seceded in killing me then at lest I wouldn’t be looked at like a science experiment.”

“Don’t say that. And no matter how dad looks at you he won’t let anything happen to you.” Jenny said. “Wow look at that castle.”

“Oh my, they actually bought Dracula’s castle!” Cat said remembering what it looked like from an episode of Ghost Hunters International.

“Well the Romania government always wanted to get rid of it so they bought it and had it eventually shipped here every last brick.” The Doctor said with a smile.

“Come on lets get in line for the ride.” Jenny said latterly dragging Cat through the gate. It was fun though Cat just managed to grab Jenny’s arm to keep her from slugging the first costume guy that jumped out at them.

“Jenny it’s their job to scare you.” Cat explained.

“And this is fun?” Jenny asked.

“Totally. Come on let’s get in the roller coaster and see if the Doctor screams like a girl.” Cat said.

“I most certainly do not.” The Doctor said getting in the front cart while the girls got in the one behind him. “What! One of you are not going to ride with me?”

“What, dose one of us need to hold your hand?” Cat teased.

“Never got this much disrespected from any of my other companions.” He grumbled.

“Awww poor baby.” Cat said leaning forward to pat his check. “They were obviously in love with you or blind.”

“That’s not true I remember Donna giving you a lot of lip.” Jenny said with a chuckle. “You need lip or else your head gets to big.” She added though she frowned when the lap restraints came down across her.

“Last time this happened it didn’t turn out so well.” Cat said as if reading her mind.

“Oh calm down you two it’ll be fine.” The Doctor said. “Remember ladies you have me with you.”

“That is why I’m scared.” Cat answered getting Jenny to laugh as the ride lurched forward.

Cat rubbed Jenny’s back as the blonde girl was bent over the toilet in the public bath room. Jenny had loved the roller coaster but the large lunch they had in London before coming here had not sat well on her stomach. “Let it out it’ll feel better if you do.” She soothed the girl who was now sitting up and whipping her mouth.

“I know the specs on hundreds of weapons, ten different fighting styles and how to kill some one five different ways with my two fingers. Yet a stupid ride dose me in.” Jenny complained as she leaned back and the toilet flushed.

“Oh I’ve seen worse. My grandfather had a tube around his throat that prevented him from throwing up. He use to come home drunk screaming for my grandmother as he dried heaved in the toilet.” Cat said helping the girl up.

“What did your grandmother do for him?” Jenny asked as this was the first time Cat had opened up about her self and she didn’t want her to stop.

“She would replied with sympathetic words of comfort.” At Jenny’s raised eyebrow cat giggled. “She would inform him to ‘go out and drink some more you damn fool’.”

Jenny and cat were laughing as they exited the bathroom to come face to face with a worried looking doctor. “I’m fine dad just my stomach wasn’t use to that is all.”

“Anyhow escape from the mummy?” Cat asked at which Jenny nodded and they both skipped off toward the ride with the doctor following smiling like a kid in a candy shop.

Cat noticed that there weren’t many people here and lines were very short though it made it slightly more enjoyable to not have to wait in long lines. They were approaching the great pyramid like structure when a very handsome man caught Cat’s eye standing ahead of them. “Wow look at the pockets on that man.” Cat whispered to Jenny.

“What about his pockets?” Jenny asked not getting it.

“Jenny it’s a way to say he has a nice ass with out saying it out load where he might hear you.” Cat tried to explain.

“I’m glade you like my ass.” The man with long black hair said approaching them. “My name is Vincent Karloft. I’m the owner of this amusement park.”

“I am Catherine De Angelo and this is my friend Jenny Smith.” Cat said with a smile and holding out her hand. Which he took and kissed with a slight bow.

“The pleasure is all mine.” He said flashing her a dazzling smile, his dark eyes seamed to be memorizing her. “But I thought you were Married to the gentlemen glaring behind you at me.”

“Oh Jenny and her father were just fooling around. I’m totally free.” Cat said.

“Then may I have the honor of escorting you through Escape for the Mummy. It can be rather freighting.” He said offering his arm.

“I would be honored.” Cat said taking his arm as they walked into the ride.

“I don’t like him.” The Doctor stated.

“Normally I would ask if it was just because he is flirting with Cat but right now I tend to agree with you.” Jenny said as they followed the two into the ride.

“It’s not a ride per say. It’s more like a giant maze that you have to escape from. But the maze can change at a moments notice.” Vincent explained. “Due to the complex system of underneath the ride that lowers and rises walls and turns the constantly changing the lay out. Several times we’ve had to stop the machine and rescue some one who had been lost in here for more then two hours and was panicking.”

“That is great you’d think there would be more people here.” Cat said looking around.

“Yes sadly admittance here has waned in the resent years. Apparently were not new enough for the kiddies to drag there parents to.” He said with a sad smile.

“Well if you have the money too perhaps giving the place a good scrub down and fresh coat of paint. Also new attractions maybe even a parade or some shows. Then of course advertisement has to be new and fresh.” Cat said thinking out load before she realized what she was doing. “Oh sorry I shouldn’t be telling you how to run your business.”

“No please don’t apologize it was quiet refreshing.” He stated.

“Yea I’m sure he hasn’t had a new idea of his own since he was born.” The Doctor mumbled loud enough for them to hear.

“Oh don’t mind him he’s just cranky because he didn’t get his prune juice this morning.” Cat told Vincent loud enough for the Doctor to hear. Jenny was in pain from holding her laughter in.

“Anyhow we tried to make the pyramid look as authentic as possible and still keep it creepy looking. Like this fellow here.” He said pointing to a painting on the wall of a monster. It had the head of a Crocodile, the body of a leopard, and the hindquarters of a hippo. Depicted on the sand in front of where it squatted was a row of hearts waiting to be eaten by it.

“That would be Ammut eater of hearts. A little known Egyptian god. It was believed when you died your heart was weight against the feather of Maat in front of Anubis. Evil deeds and words made you heart heavy and when it sank Thoth fed your heart to Ammut.” Cat said showing that history class was the one and only one she had actually passed and enjoyed.

“Your Brilliant.” The Doctor said with a laugh picking her up and twirling her around causing Cat to laugh. “Told you that you’re smarter then you think you are.”

“Ah but you lost the bet. I get to choose the next three places we go.” Cat laughed as he set her down.

“No.” He said in disbelief as her thought back on what he said. “Oh no.”

“Anyhow Vincent, I believe you were going to escort me through this maze.” Cat said turning back to the man who was glaring at the doctor.

“Yes my dear right this way.” He said taking her arm once again and leading her forward. He stepped on a slightly raised switch hidden in the floor. As soon as they were cleared a wall sprung up effectively cutting off Cat and Vincent from the Doctor and Jenny.

“Hey now this is starting to become a habit.” The Doctor said growling at the wall.

“Come on it’s part of the experience. Besides you Jenny need to get to know each other better. I’ll call you if I need help.” Cat shouted through the wall.

“Not so loudly though last time it hurt.” The Doctor pouted.

“Aww poor baby. See you at the end.” Cat said before grabbing Vincent’s arm and dragging him off.

“You can still feel her through the link your both pretending you don’t have right?” Jenny asked earning a very child like pout.

“Oh yes but she reminds my of a former companion of mine the way trouble and men are drawn to her. I mean who almost gets kidnapped while clothes shopping?” The Doctor complained.

“Maybe it’s her energy field that attracts them.” Jenny said dragging her father down a path.

“Not helping with the worry here.” The Doctor said. “Besides there was something familiar about that man, like I’ve seen him before.”

“Who haven’t you seen before? Now hush and let’s go this way.” Jenny said bouncing slightly with way to much energy.

Cat laughed as Vincent spun her out of the way of an automated mommy. His arm went around her waist and his other hand grabbed hers. “Shale we dance?” He asked as he took her hand and waltzed her down another corridor causing her to laugh.

“You know your taking all the scare out of this.” Cat joked.

“Ah but a beautiful woman such as your self should never be scared. You should be placed on a throne as a queen to a new race of humans.” He said looking into her eyes. She felt light headed and woozy.

“Not sure who your talking about there I’m not Beautiful.” She said closing her eyes and trying to feel better.

“I will admit brown hair is not usually considered beautiful among my people but your energy field more then makes up for it.” He said pulling her closer. When she started to struggle a bit he sighed. “Now, now I can’t have you using that link to call your friends. Time for you to sleep my dear.” With that Cat fainted and he picked her up bridal style and carried her off.

Jenny growled as a wall suddenly sprung up between her and the exit. “Dang it and we we’re almost there dad… Dad?” She said turning to see him leaning against one of the none moving wall.

“The link you pointed out that we have is gone. Once more I can’t even feel her energy.” He said almost looking scary.

“So you were right everyone is after her and we need to build a permanent Cat detector.” Jenny said looking around. “They thought to trap us in here all exits are blocked.” Jenny went over and tapped on the wall.

“Weak spot is to the right Jenny” The Doctor informed her looking at the wall.

“Thanks dad.” Jenny said before kicking a whole into it. “Look I found the exit.”

“Good girl now let’s find your friend Cat.” The Doctor said pulling her along behind him.

Cat moaned as she slowly woke up. Her head was throbbing and she was getting real sick of getting knocked unconscious. Sitting up she realized she was not warring her jeans and T-shirt she was now in a long white dress. It was pretty but defiantly right off the pages of some misguided fantasy novel. Of course so were the huge canopy bed she was in and every other part of the room. Scooting off the bed she hurried across to the vanity to see her hair done up with white flowers in it and only a little bit of make up. Even she had to admit she looked good, if only the nausea would go away.

“My Lady, you’re up.” Said the girl who had taken their picture earlier, when she entered the room. “That is good you wouldn’t want to sleep through your own wedding.”

“What I am not getting married. I don’t even have a ring.” Cat said.

“Of course you do.” She said pointing to Cat’s hand. “The Prince would only have the best for his bride and the queen agrees with his choice for once.”

Cat looked down and saw the huge diamond on her ring finger and frowned. She had never told anyone but she was probably the only girl in the world that hated Diamonds. Getting it off was all she could think of but no matter how hard she pulled at it the thing wouldn’t budge. “Damn it get it off.”

“But my Lady it’s your engagement ring. Stop being silly you’ll be married soon and can lead our people into a new area.” She said trying to calm Cat down. “Come now with your energy and brain we can get this park busy again and wont have to kill to survive.”

“Kill?” Cat said looking at her. “You guys kill?”

“We don’t like to but we are similar to the old legends of Vampires. We don’t feed on blood but on energy. The life force and emotions of others. When this place use to be packed we never had to hurt anyone just stand around and work like normal employees and soak in the extra energy and emotions coming off those enjoying the park no one got hurt it worked for everyone.” The girl said with a smile. “When the crowds stop coming we started to get hungry. But you have enough energy to feed us for years with out dieing. Plus your smart enough to bring the park around so it will be crowded again.”

“But what about what I want?” Cat asked. “I don’t want to marry someone I don’t know.”

“Well you’ll get to know him. Come on it’s time to go.” She said taking Cat’s arm. They were walking down one corridor after another and only stopped long enough to place a veil on her head and flowers in her hand. It seamed no matter how hard she wanted to fight and run the only thing she had control of was her mouth.

In seconds they were there at the back of what appeared to be a chapel with rows of seating and everything. Standing at the front of the ceremony area was standing Vincent and in front of the alter where the preacher would stand was a woman with beautiful long black hair. She felt her feet move on their own carrying her unwillingly down the isle until she was standing next to her future husband that she really didn’t want.

“We are gathered her today to meld these to life forces together for eternity. Do you Vincent wish to become one with this women, to bring her in the family, to listen to what she has to say and to protect her from all who would take her away from you.” The woman said.

“I will with great honor.” She said smiling at Cat who was trying to send him looks that said ‘die a horrible death’.

“And do you Catherine take this man to be one with you, to honor him above all others and to obey what ever he says…”

“Oh now that will never happen. She hates obeying anyone even if it’s for her own good.” The Doctor said entering the room. He pointed his sonic screw driver at she ring and it shattered releasing her from the power that controlled her.

“About time you got here. Take the scenic rout?” Cat asked running to him and hugging him.

“Yea got side tracked by a game of ring toss. I won you a teddy bear Jenny took it back to the TARDIS for you.” The Doctor said still glaring at everyone.

“You can not take her from us Doctor. We need her to survive.” Vincent said stepping forward even though the doctor looked like he was willing to kill just this once. He ended up sighing instead.

“Oh that’s bullocks. She already gave you ideas on how to bring this place back and someone here has to be smart enough to come up with new ideas.” The Doctor sated looking around at them. “I’m not going to punish you this time. But I will be keeping an eye on this place and will come back if you even step one toe out of line.” He hissed before turning and maneuvering Cat back to the TARDIS.

Once inside of the ship the Doctor paused to get a good look at Cat and was slightly shocked. “Wow Cat your gorgeous!” Jenny said running up and giving her friend a hug.

“No not really just a freak here nothing even remotely pretty.” Cat said prying her self from Jenny’s arms and heading farther into the ship to her room.

“What is wrong with her?” Jenny asked.

“She was kidnapped from all she used to know and love to be made into a weapon, escaped twice from them and has been separated from us twice and almost forced to wed someone she didn’t love.” The Doctor explained. “This would freak out most humans plus add on top she has been told she is like no other human on earth and that she can’t go home because the remaining Daleks are still looking for her and if she were to go home to stay they would kill her family to get to her.”

“Can we take her home maybe for a visit.” Jenny asked looking after her friend. “Just long enough to let her see her family and talk to them.

“God Jenny your brilliant!” He said kissing her on the forehead and dancing over to the consol and spinning knobs and pushing buttons. “Go to her and comfort her. Let her know will be in her house shortly.”

Jenny ran down the hall to Cat’s room and walked in. Her friend was still sitting in that white dress on her bed. “Oh girl you better jump into the shower. Here let me get those flowers out of your hair.” Jenny said kneeling behind her on the bed and taking the flowers out of her hair. “You’ll want to put on something nice. Like that black skirt and red blouse you made dad buy you. You want your mom and dad to see you at your best.”

Cat looked at her pleadingly. “You mean he’s taking me home?”

“Only for a visit. We can’t leave you there as then not only you but your family will be in danger.” Jenny explained. “But were going to visit them and let them know your okay.”

Cat hugged Jenny then quickly squirmed out of the dress and ran to the shower. With a curled lip Jenny picked the dress up and through it into the fire. She was happy to see the TARDIS supplied instant fire and burned the dress to ash. It wasn’t very long until Cat came back out in one of those large fluffy bathrobes and started pulling out her clothes. “ETA?” She asked as she got dressed.

“Any second now.” She said as the ship did one last shudder and stilled. The girls smiled at one another and rushed for the front. The Doctor was there smiling.

“Well lets go meet the folks.” He said offering his arm to Cat. “You mother doesn’t smack dose she?”

“Depends on what you say to her.” Cat informed him and laughed when he frowned.

“Let’s go guys I’m not waiting on you two for ever.” Jenny said as the three of them turned to leave the TARDIS.
