Leaving on a Jet Plane
“Hannah?” Her eyes shot up as she noticed him stood by the cooker looking at her cautiously. She let her legs uncross and drop off the counter before she concentrated on her feet, avoiding his eyes.
“Hannah, what’s up?” He moved towards her, unsure about what to do.
Slowly she looked up, looking at his face but not meeting his eyes. “Come here.” She spoke so quietly that he barely heard the words. He carefully did as she asked, stepping up to her side. She reached out her hands and pulled him to her by his shoulders, wrapping her arms around his neck and her legs around his hips.
“Hey,” He whispered, holding her to him. “Talk to me.”
“I just wanted to hug you,” she smiled pulling away from him, “Listen, I was thinking about going home, I’m feeling kinda home sick.”
“Oh,” His voice betrayed his disappointment.
“I don’t want to leave you.” She said, cupping his cheek with her hand, “I wish my home was here, there’s just some stuff I gotta go do.”
“But you took the job here, I thought you were staying, you said so yourself.”
“I know, and I never said I wasn’t coming back.” She put both hands on either side of his face and made him look at her, “Do you want me to come back to stay?”
He stared at her for a long time before he nodded his head, “Yes.”
“Then I need you to come back with me.”
“When?” He didn’t ask why, he didn’t need to. He knew if it was what he needed to do to keep this woman then he would do it.
“As soon as you can go, we’ll go.” She said, “If you still want me to come back here with you then I will.” She rested her head against his shoulder as she hugged him, “And I won’t leave you again.”
