Chapter 2

Abhorrence - a feeling of repugnance or loathing; one that is disgusting, loathsome, or repellent.

Despite the fact that the van was rather large and seated everyone else comfortably, Phil always felt claustrophobic, even if he was sitting in the back. He would have preferred to fly, everyone did, but they couldn’t bring the equipment on the plane, and tickets were expensive anyway and would end up coming out of their paychecks. He sure as hell wasn’t willing to shell out a couple hundred pounds just to spend twenty four hours in a moldy old house investigating supposed spirits.

He ignored Derek, asleep next to him and snoring slightly, in favor of brushing up on reading a book he’d neglected for several months. Well, he tried to ignore Derek as much as possible, but with every turn the man leaned further and further into him, and it became increasingly difficult to keep his attention on his book when his cock so readily begged for it. He shifted, not really easing the pressure in his jeans, and closed his book at the same time he closed his eyes. If he couldn’t read, maybe he could sleep.

No, no, that wasn’t working either. Maybe if he tried to meditate. Nope, that wasn’t working. He tried thinking of his cats, his next door neighbor, his cats and the next door neighbor. There, that seemed to work. Yvette naked. Ah, yes, it was gone now, and Phil opened his book again, the image of his boss naked with the hairiest genitals he’d ever seen at the forefront of his mind, and when Derek’s hand accidentally brushed his thigh he had no problem thinking his cock into submission.

They drove for a little over four hours, and it was still dark when they reached the small bed and breakfast they were going to be staying at for the duration of the investigation. Yvette went inside and awoke the proprietor, much to his annoyance, and set up everyone with their room numbers and keys. Phil almost tripped coming out of the van when he found that he’d be sharing a room with Derek. He wanted to bang his head into the wall when he turned the light on in the small room and found it only had one bed. And it wasn’t even a big one. He was going to kill Yvette when all was said and done. And feed her to his cats.

“This our room then?” Phil jumped as Derek hovered behind him, almost pressed into his back. He took several large steps into the room.

“I-I’ll sleep on the floor,” he said, bumping his suitcase into a corner, not turning and missing completely the amused look on Derek’s face.

“There’s no need for you to, unless you’re uncomfortable with me sharing a room with you. I can switch with Stuart or Tom-”

“No! I mean, I just though you would like space to yourself, is all.” He turned and watched Derek meticulously unpacking and hanging his suits on individual hooks by the dresser. The man grabbed a handful of socks and paused to look at Phil before putting them away.

“I don’t mind sharing space with someone I like, Philip,” he said, pointedly looking him in the face. Phil just as pointedly looked the other way. “I don’t bite, you know.” Phil couldn’t help but look at him then, and smiled at the glint in the medium’s eyes.

“No, but you do become possessed,” he replied, and beamed when Derek graced him with a toothy grin.

“Well, if anything naughty happens during the night, I’ll be sure to blame it on them." Phil’s eyes widened visibly and he made a small, high-pitched sound before retreating into the bathroom.
