Ch 28
Sara froze mentally. Outwardly however she was nodding her head. "Didn't you see the ring on her finger?" He added for good measure.
The nurse apologized, "I'm sorry, Mrs. Grissom."
Grissom smiled, keeping the embrace. Sara narrowed her eyes a little, "Could you see how much longer the doctor's going to be, please?"
"I'm waiting on x-rays. They want to make sure my ribs aren't broken."
Sara kept a steady stroke on Grissom's head as she waited for the nurse to leave. Her eyes closed for a brief moment as she lightly kissed his hair before breaking the embrace and sitting down in the chair by his bed.
“Sorry about the wife thing,” He began. “I…I just”
“Don’t worry about it Griss, its ok.”
"Colorado,” he paused. “Are we still gonna be able to go?”
“’Course.”
“I mean...” he didn’t know what he meant.
“I still want to go,” Sara repeated.
“So do I, its just...” he couldn’t find the words.
“Just what?”
“I feel like a failure, that you don’t deserve me, you deserve better.”
“Not to sound like your therapist, but why?”
“This.” He pointed to his ribs. “Everything, I feel inadequate.”
“Guess I’ll have to see what I can do about that,” Sara said softly.
He smiled as the doctor came back inside the room. “Dr and Mrs Grissom, nothing is broken. You will have to take it easy for a few days while the bruising heals.”
He turned around. “You can go home now.”
“Thank you.” Sara smiled at the doctor as she helped Grissom with his shirt.
He held out his hand. “Let’s go.”
They took a cab back to Grissom’s townhouse.

"We should get some sleep; we have a long day ahead of us tomorrow." He said as he stepped in through the front door. Sara carefully lowered him down onto the bed. She wordlessly helped him with his tuxedo and into bed.
The pain meds were beginning to take effect. "Coming to bed?" he lethargically asked her.
"In a minute, baby. I'm going to take a bath."
"Oh." He mumbled. If he had more energy he would insist on joining her.
When Sara emerged, she smelled like lavender. "Umm, you smell good." He said kissing her neck.
Sara allowed herself a small smile as she gently reprimanded, "You're supposed to be resting."
"But you smell so good...I couldn't help myself."
"You'll get plenty of chances," the comment slipped out.
"Are you shooting me down, Miss Sidle?"
Sara froze for a moment again, unable to believe she had said that aloud.
Finally she kissed his cheek. "I don't mean to. Really. Just want you to get better."
"I’m fine. I promise." He said with a grin.
But you really scared me There was a curious glint to her eyes as she insisted, "Rest."
"Meanie." He choked out as he rolled over on his good side.
Sara pulled the blanket over top of Grissom and lay down as well.
"Will you at least snuggle with me?" He asked.
Sara spooned up against him. "How's this?"
"Perrrrfect."
"Go to sleep, baby," Sara murmured again, kissing Grissom's bicep. "I'm here."
"Umm"
"I love you."
"Umm." He replied before he drifted off to sleep
~~~
Grissom awoke to find Sara all the way on the other side of the bed, half hanging off.
"Sara." He called trying to get her up. He flinched with pain.
Sara unceremoniously fell off the bed headfirst.
He jumped up. "Honey, are you ok?" He rushed to her side.
“Haven't done that in a long time," Sara mused. Then she looked up at Grissom. "And what are you doing out of bed? Scoot, back under the covers."
"What do you mean what am I doing up, you fell out of the bed, silly."
"I'm aware of that, Doc." Sara ruefully rubbed her hip before taking Grissom's arm. "But I’m not the one that's on doctor's orders."
"Hey now!" He chuckled softly. "I was just running to my lady's aide, can't harm a guy for that."
"I do appreciate the thought," Sara reassured him with a soft kiss on the forehead.
"What time is it anyway?" He asked rubbing his forehead.
"About 5:00."
"What time are we gonna head out?"
The radio announcement burst through the room. “Red Alert. Anyone heading to Colorado, I suggest postponing, there is a freezing rain warning in the area.”
"Listen to that, our trip will have to be postponed for a day or two."
He sighed. "Oh."
"But on the other side of things, you should be better by then."
He had a half grin. "I guess so."
"Want me to stay with you?"
"Do you have to ask?" He shot back.
Well...yeah.
"I never want you to leave."
Sara flung her arms around Grissom's neck in a moment of forgetting herself. “I love you so much.”
He winced in pain as she jabbed his rib. Sara jumped back.
"It’s ok. C'mere." He beckoned and Sara sat on the edge of the bed. "Sara, please come here." He begged.
She slowly moved up beside him, giving him the option of taking her in his arms. He pulled her into him. "Can we just stay like this for two days?"
It's a tempting thought all right. "Griss...When you said you don't want me to leave...did that mean you want me to move in with you?"
"If you want. I don't want to push you. I would like it if you did though." She gave him a smile. "Is that a yes?" he asked.
"That's a yes."
"I'm so happy.” He kissed her gently.
Sara leaned back against the pillows, feeling exhausted. "You know what, baby? I think I'm still tired."
"Good. Sleep with me."
"I am, aren't I?" She said sleepily.
"I guess." He joked.
"Never mind the jokes, Doc. Sleep," she said in mock sternness even though she was beginning to grin.
"K." He growled between yawns. He pulled her into his chest.
"Don't hurt yourself."
"I won't, but I want you near."
"Okay." Sara softly kissed his chest. He rubbed his fingers through her hair.
"Mmm....” A moan escaped Sara's lips again.
He ran his fingers along her sides gently cupping her breast. Sara's eyes closed but Grissom could still see the contented smile that touched her lips. His hand wandered down and kneaded the flesh of her thigh.
“Griss...." Sara's sleepy voice came.
"What?" He said sheepishly.
"Sleep. If you don't, I'll handcuff you to the bed till you do."
He was intrigued. "You have handcuffs? Will you bring them to Colorado?"
Sara sighed. "Never mind. Good night." Then she was asleep. He curled her into his chest and almost immediately fell to sleep.
The nurse apologized, "I'm sorry, Mrs. Grissom."
Grissom smiled, keeping the embrace. Sara narrowed her eyes a little, "Could you see how much longer the doctor's going to be, please?"
