Chapter 26 -- Manifestation

“Well, I doubt that’s going to hap. . .” he stepped back, and hit the wall as his eyes widened, and his pupils dilated until they almost covered his iris’. “Oh no,” his voice was a strangled whisper, and he shook his head as a figure materialized directly in front of him. He felt the familiar need to throw up, as his entire body trembled, and he jumped up and backed toward the door.

“Look, Spencer, these histrionics have to stop,” Lassiter scowled. “We know you aren’t psychic, so you can‘t be having a ‘vision‘.”

“It’s not a fake vision! SHAWN REALLY CAN SEE DEAD PEOPLE!” Gus finally shouted, which prompted everyone to look at him, and their mouths, including Shawn’s, to drop open. “I’ve been trying to tell you this since I came in!“

“Gus, we know you’re Shawn’s best friend,“ Henry said and we know you want to support him, but this isn’t the way to be supportive. Giving in to his hallucinations is not only dangerous, but cruel.“

“Mr. Spencer, it is my firm belief they aren’t just hallucinations,” Gus frowned. “As I said, I’ve been trying to tell you people since I came in that I was doing some research, and I’ve discovered why Shawn is seeing what he is!”

“Welcome to my world, Gus,“ Shawn said, and paled. “But, you know, Dad, maybe, just maybe if you tell her than she’s an hallucination, she’ll just go away and leave me alone!“ Shawn yelled, his voice on the verge of panic as the ghostly woman stepped forward, and Captain Crunch dropped at his feet.

“Shawn!” Juliet tried to get to him, but the woman stepped in front of him, and Juliet shivered. “Th . . . There’s a cold spot here . . .“ She said, shocked.

“Of course it’s cold!” Shawn snapped. “You just walked through a dead woman!“

“Help usss,” the woman whispered, and reached out for him as more Captain Crunch dropped from her lips.

“I can’t! I can’t help you! I don‘t know how!” Shawn yelled, on the verge of hysteria, and he tried to back away, but she reached out, and grabbed his wrist.

“Coooommmme,” she said, and pulled on his wrist.

“Oh no you don’t!” he said, and fought to get his hand back, but couldn’t, and he was dragged to the door.

He looked at the others in the room, who stared at him, caught between shock and disbelief and he knew how it looked. He knew that it looked like one of his false fits, and he didn’t know which scared him more, the fact that a dead woman was trying to drag him someplace, or the fact that his false fits had actually been close to what would really happen. He gagged several times, but fought it, and slammed, shoulder-first into the door. She put her hand literally through his, and for a moment he struggled as she forced him to turn the knob and open the door.

“Manifestation,” Gus said, as he went to the door, and frowned at the others who stared, frozen in shock and indecision. “Well, are you coming?” He asked, and followed Shawn.
