Chapter Twenty - Six
Getting fixed up

Once the guards, Jack and the Torchwood group got the Doctor in the wheelchair Nicola pushed him out of The Torchwood building thanking them for all their help. When she got to the TARDIS (The rain was still falling) Nicola unlocked the tardis's doors and pulled the Doctor inside shutting the doors behind her. She was so worried about her love that she ran all the way to the sick bay. "Slow down hun, I'll be fine once you've patched me up". he said to her. "Time-lord or not, I can't stop worrying about you". she told him. once they were inside the sick bay, Nicola helped the Doctor onto one of the beds and moved the wheelchair away. She then moved closer to him and look worried and scared incase she did something wrong. The Doctor saw this and pulled her into a cuddle, " You'll do fine I'll walk you through this step by step". He said into her ear and she nodded. "Ok, first i'd love some morthin in that cabnet behind you is the painkillers". he said as she got up and went to the cabnet he was talking about and opened it she saw all the painkillers inside with some needles. " Do you see a little bottle called MorthinX"? he asked she looked and saw the bottle. "Yeah". she nodded "Take it out with a needle". He said. She got everything out even and clip thing she saw being used at her blood donor group and then went back to the Doctor and rolled up the shirt sleeve and clipped the clipped around his arm. he clenched his fist to help get a vein up.
"I...don't..." she said with tears in her eyes. The Doctor understood she's never ever done anything like this before and she was afraid. "You're doing great so far hun". he said stroaking her cheek then kissing her, she nodded. "Right you see the needle, does it have little numbers on the side of it"? he asked. she looked and saw it did. "Yes it does, it goes up from 10 to 100". She said trembling. "Right draw out 40cc's from the bottle of morthin". She did as he said "now flick the side of the needle pointing the sharp part up, make sure you get rid of the air bubbles at the top". she did ans squirted abit out to get rid of the air bubbles. When it was ready Nicola froze as she knew what was coming next and the Doctor saw this. "Honey your doing really really well this is the easy bit". he said to her. Nicola shook her head as if to clear it and nodded, she then felt for a vein and cleaned the area she then aimed the needle to to and told him he'd feel a small scratch and once the needle was in his vein saw slowly pushed the top of the needle to put the morthin into his bloodstream. she then unclipped the clip when the needle was empty, she took the needle out and put a cotton wool bud over the needle wound and put tape on it to keep it in place. "Oh, I Love this stuff". he said as the painkiller was starting to work, nic smiled. "What now hun"? She asked him "X-ray, you need to see how bad the break is". he said nic smiled again, " I don't need it to tell me it's broke, your bone is sticking out of the flesh". she joked "Ha, ha. Ask the Tardis to do the X-ray she'll help computer wise". He told her. She asked for help with the X-rays which she did. "Nic pull the screen around so the Doctor can see it". said the Tardis, Nicola did as she was told and pulled the screen around so he could see it. "A clean break, you're gonna have to pull it back into the flesh, hun". He told her. Nicola nodded and had a look around the sick bay for a minute, then see saw something that she knew would help and she smiled at him. "You wanna get drunk babes"? she asked. "what'd you mean"? he asked looking confused. "I've dislocated my knees 4 time twice on each leg and when they took me to hospital, they gave me". she said walking over to the cabnet she saw the bottles in "This Gas and Air". and pulled one out "You love morthin, i love this stuff, It'll help numb any part of your body that the morthin's missed out". she said giving him the mask and turning it on, he breathed in deep a few times, Nic moved to the bad leg and slowly took his trainer off and unstrapped his leg from the splint, "Ready"? she asked with a worried look at him, he looked at her, scared for a minute, but nodded and gripped the metal rail next to him.
Nicola took a hold of his left leg (The broken one) and gave it a sharp pull, Nicola heard a loud click and knew it was back in the flesh. The Doctor closed his eyes real tight and cried into the mask that was over his face. "Hun, You alright". she asked worriedly the Doctor took a couple of deep breaths and opened his eyes. "Yeah. Right check to see if the bone's in the proper place. Another x-ray". he said panting with sweat running down his cheeks. The Tardis heard and did another x-ray. Nicola saw the bone picture come up on the screen and showed it to the Doctor. "Ok, the bone's back in place, you need to stitch the wound up". he said to her. "There's disolveable stitches in the draw on the table in the middle of the room". He told her, Nicola nodded and got the things out that she needed. When she was ready she cleaned the wound and stitched up the muscles and skin, when she was finished she moved over to get the plaster ready. While it soaked she put a cotton foam bandage on the leg tight, then she got the plaster and wrapped it around the foam, then when she was finished and the plaster drying, Nicola washed her hands in the sick bay's sink, then she moved a chair next to the doctor's bed. "See I knew you could do it". He said with a smile. Nicola took a hold of his hand, buried head in his arm and cried. "It's ok, hun". He said stroaking her face, and she kept on sobbing. after she calmed down a bit she kissed him. "I love you". she told him. "I love you too". he said closing his eyes and smiled.
As he slept Nicola checked the casked it was now hard, she saw some crutches and put them next to the Doctor's bed so he could reach them, Nicola moved over to him and put her head on the pillow next to him. "Hun, I'm gonna go to bed". she whispered next to his ear and he turned his head to hers and slowly opened his eyes. "Okay, babes, get some sleep, you did really well today". he whispered back giving her a kiss then closing his eyes again.

Nic left the Sick bay her head was swimming with pain and the room felt like it was spinning, as she slowly made it the her bedroom the Tardis came to her in the back of her head. "Nic! are you alright"? she asked her friend. "My head hurts, the room won't stop spinning and i feel sick". Nicola said out loud "All i want is to lay down on my bed". she said to the Tardis. "Nic what happened today"? asked The ship. "That beast escaped his cell today when he saw the Doctor kissing me, He threw the Doctor away from me breaking his leg, he then knocked me out and dried to kidnap me". "I was only out for a minute and when i came to the Doctor and I came up with a plan to knock him out, and it worked, he chucked me the Sonic-screwdriver and i knocked him out". Nic said with sleepy eyes, "So you both were safe". said the Tardis. "It would seem that way but when the beast fell back, I was under him for about five minutes, before someone took him off me. Ohh my head hurts". Nic said with tears in her eyes. The Tardis took a quick scan of Nic's brain, "Nic don't go to sleep, you've got a blood clot on you brain". she said. "Can you make it back to the Doctor"? she ask her friend. "I'll try". And she got up slowly as the room was still spinning, as she held onto the wall, Nic slowly made it back to the Doctor. Nicola got to the door to sick bay and opened it, she walked over to the Doctor "hun" she said shaking him awake. when he looked a her pale face he instantly woke up "Nic hun what is it"? he asked worriedly. "i don't feel right, my head hurts and the room is spinning and the Tardis thinks i've got a blood clot". she said shakingly. She then collapsed in his arms. "Nic hun". he cried. "Tardis help me, what's going on". he shouted. "She's got a blood clot and it's slowly getting bigger. she'll be alright once you've removed it". she told the Doctor. He put her in his place and got every out he needed. he then took one look at Nic and said "please hold on".
Six hours later. Nicola was sleeping peacefully after the Doctor removed the blood clot. He was sitting on the chair Nic put there hours ago, He was holding her hand waiting for her to wake up. "Come on babe, I need you". He said with tears rolling down his eyes as he put his head on her arm.
Nicola slowly opened her eyes, but because of the light in the room was bright she closed then again but slowly opened them. she looked down and saw her love sobbing his hearts out and it pained her to watch him do so, so with her free hand she placed it on his head, he looked up quickly and she saw more tears rolling down his cheeks she pulled him closer and wiped away his tears and because of a tube down her throat breathing for her she pointed to it. he nodded and took it out slowly causing her to cough, after the coughing went away they both kissed.
