ch 26

“Gil. Gil are you ok?”

Wow, the reaper knows my first name, wow, I feel special.

“Gil, can you hear me?”

He heard voices and people. What is going on?

The door opened. He saw Jim Brass.

“Jim am I in heaven, or did you meet me in hell?”

“Gil, you aren’t dead, you were just caught in a sandstorm.”

“I see my great aunt Bertha. She is standing in the white light.”

“I need a medic.” Jim Brass yelled. “He is delirious. He needs fluids and something to calm him down.”

The paramedics were there immediately. They placed him on a stretcher, hooked him up to an IV and gave him a sedative and set out to take him to the hospital.

Brass noticed the papers on the seat, opening them up he knew what he had to do with them. He pocketed them and went to speak to Sara. This was something he had to do in person.

Jim pulled up at Sara’s door and rang the bell.

“Brass, what do I owe this visit?”

“I’m sorry, Sara, can I come in.”

“Sure, what’s wrong?”

“Come, sit down.”

“Oh no. What happened to Gil?”

“He is fine.”

“I sense a but.”

“Yes, well, he was caught in the sandstorm in the desert. He was working on a case. He is suffering from dehydration and exposure as well as delirium.”

“Oh my god, Brass.”

“Sara, I assure you he is ok.”

Sara began to cry, Jim reached out to comfort her.

“Sara, he thought he was dying. He wrote you all letters.”

“He did?”

“Yes.” He passed her the papers. “I’m going to leave. If you need me you know where to find me.”

“Thanks, Brass.”

“No problem. Any time.”
