Chapter 24

Chapter 24

Six months after Gallagher was born the whole League as their civilian selves with the few family and friends Chloe still had around were having a party to celebrate the new member of their little family. Everything was going fairly well with only one spit up mishap. Right at this moment while Chloe was serving with some help from Mrs. Kent aka Senator Kent. Mrs. Kent had been a pillar of support that Chloe could always lean on when she was younger and that never changed even when Martha moved to Washington, DC after taking Ed Burke’s place in the U.S. Senate. Mrs. Kent had made it clear that she was coming back to Smallville to be closer to Chloe so she would have someone there who understood what she was going through once her term was through which would be soon, another 1½ years.

She was kept up to date on what was going on in her son’s life by a personal call weekly. Her son or Chloe could call her at anytime when she wasn’t in sessions without going through a hassle of line switches. Martha was just as worried about where Clark was and when he might be back but she kept her hope high and her back straight. Chloe watched her whenever she was there and admired her more and more every time.

As everyone sat down to eat Gallagher who lay in his daddy Oliver’s arms giggling and playing with Oliver’s shirt’s buttons there was a scream over the intercom and a blast which frightened Gallagher and he began crying. In the next moment Zod/Lex came bursting through the door and was eyeing Gallagher closely.

“I had heard there was a gifted child born a while ago to a spunky blonde with the last name Sullivan and just had to see. That the child could heal itself in the womb and wonder what else he can do. His power will come in handy for Lex’s plans,” Zod/Lex stated as the League members stepped in front of Chloe and Oliver who were huddled behind them trying to comfort and protect Gallagher.

“Go away you alien parasite!” Dinah said coolly.

“Yeah, you’re not getting your hands on Chloe or her baby. So, you might as well back off now. Before I blast you out of here myself,” Victor said preparing his new modifications.

“Do you really think you Eartlings scare me?! You don’t, I am Lord Zod, the greatest warlord of Krypton,” Zod/Lex replied stepping closer.

Suddenly Oliver handed Gallagher to Chloe and stepped forward to face off with Zod/Lex saying, “I don’t care who you are. You aren’t getting to my son. You hear me.”

“Oh, you’re brave…foolish but brave,” Zod/Lex laughed and went to shove passed Oliver but before he could a golden flash of light hit him back.

Everyone turned quickly to Chloe who herself was looking down at Gallagher in her arms who was looking right at Zod/Lex with such an intelligent and wise look on his face for a 6 month old and holding his hand out towards the two men.

“Well, isn’t he the gifted one?” Zod/Lex stated gaining his composure back and stepping forward only to be stopped by the an invisible wall and then suddenly Gallagher began to glow gold and the gold light washed over everyone in the room growing in brightness as it touched every person

People outside the building were shocked how the beginning to darken as night came suddenly began to pulse brightly with flashes of gold. When they looked up to the sky to see what might be going on they didn’t find the sun and moon eclipsing or anything like that but a bright, flashing, golden light coming from and consuming the whole top of a building with glass windows that were at the moment reflecting the light in every direction like a lighthouse’s light shining out at everyone. As they watched the light imploded on itself and then exploded out destroying the whole top of the building.

There were screams of horror and awe, people rushing from and towards the building, fire fighters and police were showing up to do their jobs. The papers the next day would say the home and everyone in it of one Chloe Sullivan’s home was missing or dead.

Six months after the explosion found the papers announcing Lex’s mysterious appearance in the Smallville cemetery with no memory since he was supposedly killed when his medical transport was blown up. It found Dinah, Bart, Victor, Arthur and many others going underground and living simple lives trying not to let the world’s problems around them affect them so much. They had to fight with themselves to not act the heroes they were to preserve the idea they were gone and dead. It found Martha Kent still U.S. Senator and planning to still move back to Smallville at the end of her term and live out her life where she left at peace.

It found Oliver Queen arriving back in the U.S. from a long medical trip in Europe with the ‘real’ Lois Lane and their son Brian Alister Lane-Queen. The ‘real’ Lois Lane and her son were apparently going to live in the building now that it was remodeled and fixed up. While Oliver lived in his newly remodeled and fixed up loft.

It found the papers buzzing that the Lois Lane they thought missing was really the ‘real’ Chloe Sullivan and that the ‘real’ Lois Lane been playing her cousin Chloe Sullivan because of a threat to her father when she was a child they had to switch places. But what the papers and world didn’t know was the ‘real’ Lois Lane was really Chloe Sullivan acting as if she was Lois Lane.

As Chloe watched her now 1 year old son sleeping thinking to herself that she really didn’t want to lie to him for his whole life about who they were, but knew to protect him she would. She had talked and discussed with Oliver about how they were going to explain things to Gall—Brian as he grew up and they had agreed to face each subject as it arose. As she quietly left the room to go to her own she thought back to the day her son, her joy had said his first word...

“Chloe had been wiping down the counter while Oliver played with Gallagher well now Brian in the living room of one of his many small hideouts somewhere in Europe. Chloe had awoken from a light nap gasping she been dreaming about the day Gallagher had used his powers and destroyed the apartment and their hurried rush to a safe getaway. She couldn’t even remember where they were heading and since then they had moved from one place to another every few weeks. At the moment they were in a small village outside of Greece.

Chloe was wiping her hands dry a little more from the dishes and counter cleaning as she walked into the doorway to the living room. She watched with a small, sad smile as Oliver played with a sitting up Brian. He was holding his rattle and as he bounced on the floor giggling the rattle bounced in his hand.

Suddenly, Brian looked at Oliver closely and said, “Dada.”

“Wha-?! Did he just say what I think he did?!” Oliver asked Chloe looking up at her from the floor with a shocked expression only to be met with a shocked silence as Chloe stared down at Brian.

“Ye-Yes, I think he did?! Get him to do it again.”

“Don’t you want to record this?!” Oliver said with an excitement she’d never seen in his eyes and voice. The excitement of a child saying their first word, a child calling someone dada.

“Ok, just a second,” she said running back into the kitchen to grab a small camcorder from the table.

When she got back Oliver was holding Brian in his lap talking to him, “Ok, Buddy say it again for Daddy. Come on, say Dada. I know you can do it.”

Chloe added her proud and excited voice, “That’s right honey, you can. Come on say Dada for Mommy.”

And just like that Brian looked up at Chloe holding the camcorder back at Oliver and said, “Dada.” He actually repeated a few times bouncing up and down on his butt with a giggle and smile watching the two adults laugh and praise him…”

And as she got ready for bed and lay down in her new bed to sleep she fell asleep with a huge smile on her face to the memory of her son’s first steps. They had actually happened that afternoon.
