Chapter 23

Chapter 23

Four months later found a very pregnant Chloe throwing the nearest object, a vase at a very unfortunate Oliver Queen as the other Justice League members looked on, for yet another article about them being together and the baby she was having being Oliver’s. The article itself wasn’t what had made her so angry she understood that the rich, handsome and very single billionaire, Queen Industries and co-CEO of Luthor Corp. Oliver Queen having not just a close friendship but a real relationship that included a child with a woman who seemed to be just your Plain Jane kind of woman was newsworthy. It was that Oliver had asked her if she would be willing to play it out, to say the baby really was his, to give her and Jimmy’s child his last name. Seeing as the true story would be too farfetched even for a town where meteor infected people were found to be at a 1 in 5 ratio.

“You Asshole! Do you think of anyone but yourself at all?!” Chloe screamed as the vase flew at Oliver to be quickly caught by a flash of red and yellow that Chloe yelled at with a, “Bart, don’t you dare take his side!”

“I’m not Beautiful but this is a damn good vase and I hate to see you crying over losing it because you broke it over Ollie’s face,” Bart replied with a calming tone he had adopted since Chloe’s mood swings had gotten progressively worse as her pregnancy progressed.

Chloe never heard him because she had already gone back to yelling at Oliver who stood with an almost scared look on his face trying to figure out a way to calm Chloe, save his ass and get her to agree at the same time.

“What about Dinah, I thought you two were together?! Won’t she be hurt by this new development of yours?”

“We’re on a break, but that has nothing to do with it,” he began and finished with, “I just want to make explaining this to your son when he gets old enough to understand as simple as possible. And trying to say a dead man was his daddy to a room full of kids when they’re talking about their family trees is gonna be hard enough. I just want the kid to have a close to normal outlook on things. We can teach him how to tell them I’m his daddy to others outside our little circle here. Only the League would know the truth and he would too, when he’s older. I’m not say lie to him his whole life but just when his younger or something.”

“And how far do you want this charade of yours to go, Oliver? Are we supposed to get married when he’s old enough to walk down the aisle as our ring bearer? Are we supposed to live together in your family’s mansion home in the South of France?” Chloe said sarcastically.

“No! Not that you aren’t a lovely woman and would make a wonderful wife, Chloe. I was thinking I could help you out while you and your son lived your lives with me making the press feeding moments like his birthday, celebrations, holidays, school stuff like parent-teacher meetings, choir or band concerts, etc.” Oliver tried to explain himself.

“So what I’d be the kept mother of your kid and you’d a free to do whatever the Hell you want drop in dad?! Sorry to tell you Oliver if I do this you’re going to be a real dad, not a drop in dad. It’ll be split custody with visitation as if we were a divorced couple with a kid, which we would basically be except for the married and divorced part,” Chloe replied calming down and sitting herself on the couch actually thinking over what Oliver was saying instead of just reacting now.

“Okay, I can do that. If you’re willing to do your part and give the kid my last name to cover the story,” he replied as he sat in the chair beside the couch and went on when she nodded, “We can explain things to him as he grows and learns but for the first few years I’ll be daddy and you’ll be mommy for his sanity.”

A month later at 10 PM found a panting Chloe clutching the hands of Belle as she slowly walked to the elevator to get to the underground garage where a rented car was waiting for them with an anxious Oliver inside. Chloe’s water had broken about 10 minutes ago and Oliver had told his driver to turn right around and go to her place. He had called to cancel all his other engagements and then called his security so they could get an escort to the hospital. A few minutes later found Chloe in the back with Belle and Oliver practicing her breathing as they rushed to the hospital. Belle was talking with the doctors on the phone while Oliver called the League members to tell them what was going on and to hurry up and get to the hospital too.

Once there they were quickly rushed into the closest and first open delivery room where Dr. Clear Moon, Dr. Hamilton and a special group of nurses and aides that Oliver had sent over from the base’s medical area were waiting for Chloe.

For the next 10 hours Chloe Lamaze breathed and cursed Oliver and Jimmy and everyone around her as she contracted and then delivered her son. Finally, after what seemed an eternity to a broken handed Oliver and a coaching Belle and a screaming Chloe Dr. Clear Moon stated, “Okay, Chloe I need you to push when I say to really hard. One big push okay?”

“O-O-kay,” Chloe panted out.

“Okay, 1…2…3…Push!”

With that Chloe pushed down as hard and long as she could to the encouragement of Oliver, Belle and all the staff in the room until suddenly there was a cry that silenced the room for a moment.

As Dr. Clear Moon, Dr. Hamilton and a nurse took her baby away to check him over after having Oliver cut his cord Chloe laid back and tried to catch her breath. As the baby was checked over Oliver watched the nurse closely and Belle helped clean Chloe up a little. In what seemed seconds the nurse was bringing Chloe her baby boy and laying him on her chest in a light blue blanket to keep him warm.

Later that day found Chloe and Oliver with the doctors filling out a birth certificate and getting a rundown of how her new son was. It seemed her son now named, Gallagher Aiden Sullivan-Queen which translated to brave or valiant little fire was a healthy, normal 7 lb., dark blonde, hazel-green eyed baby boy with no health problems that they could find.

After a few days of rest for the new mommy and checks by the doctors of both the new arrival and his mother they were sent home to start their new life together. Oliver Queen was a man of his word the second the papers learned that Chloe had given her “supposedly not his, but really his” son Oliver’s last name he became like a divorced daddy. Coming to see the baby, giving him presents, helping her support herself and the baby while she looked for other work besides the League, he helped take care of the baby sometimes when he was over for visits and even set up a room in his own loft so the baby could come stay the night his “daddy” sometimes.

For the first few weeks/months the newspapers, magazines, etc. reported almost every single thing they or the baby did but soon enough they reporters cooled down and left them all alone. From the first night of being home Chloe began telling her son Gallagher about her hero friends, his father and his “father” and of course her best friend and own personal superhero Clark Kent aka the Red Blue Blur.
