ch 24

Sara stood before Grissom in the wedding dress. She looked so beautiful. The dress was simple but elegant. Cream coloured with blue flowers on the bodice. It hid her bulging belly well.

Grissom was dressed in a simple suit, nothing fancy. His tie was blue to both match his eyes and her dress.

Sara looked as beautiful as a summer day.

They decided to only have a small wedding, only friends and nothing more. Grissom only had a week left of his leave so they wanted to do this as quickly as possible.

Amy was dressed in a small blue dress and held flowers, Sam was also dressed in blue and carried a small basket as she held onto Lindsay’s hand and walked down the aisle.

The ceremony was short but sweet, nothing too extensive.

They had an appointment first thing Monday morning to legally adopt and change both Amy’s name and Sam’s. Amy was very excited about it.

Grissom and Sara strode into the courthouse with their family in tow. They wanted to get this done as quickly as they could and celebrate their newfound union and their newfound family.

They approached the judge with the paperwork in hand. He looked from Grissom to Sara and back.

“What is the reason for your appointment?” The judge asked.

“We just got married; we want to legally adopt the children.”

“Whose children are they?”

“One is mine.” Grissom spoke up.

“And the other is mine.” Sara added.

“Ok, so where is your paper work?”

“Right here.” Grissom passed the papers to him.

“Young lady.” The judge said looking at Amy. “Are you alright with this?”

“Yes Sir.” She admitted.

“Alright lets get on with this.”

The paper work was signed and filed and they left the courthouse.

They headed home so Sara could rest and put Sam down. Grissom wanted to spend some time with his family before he went into work.

~~~
It was his first day back after paternity leave and he dreaded going. The six months was not long enough for what he wanted to do. He wanted more time to spend with them but he decided to save the rest of his vacation time until Sara had the new baby.
They pulled into the yard and Grissom carried sleeping Samantha into the house. Sara and Amy trailed behind him.
Once inside the house Sara nearly collapsed onto the couch and sighed.
“Sara, sweetie, are you okay?”
“Yes, Griss just tired. It has been a busy couple of days.”
“I know.”
He sat down beside her. “Let me rub your feet.”
She turned and put her feet in his lap. “Umm, that would be good.”
“Griss.” Sara began. “Are we gonna be able to handle three kids?”
“I think we will be alright. Amy is nearly at the age she can help you out. We will be just fine.”
“Would you be upset if I stop working and just raised my babies?”
“No. Why would you think that? Babies? How many more do you plan on having?”
“A few, why? Besides, some men want their women to work.”
“Not this man. Come on, how many is a few?”
“Probably at least one more after this, I don’t want Sam to have the middle child syndrome. If we have four it will be even. Maybe we will get two boys and two girls.”
“Wow, you have really thought about this.”
“Yes, thanks Griss. I really appreciate that you want the same things as me.”
“Sara, could you do me a favour?”
“Sure, anything.”
“Could you call me Gil, please? It seems weird you calling me Griss now that we are married.”
“Sure, Gil.” She tried out his given name for the first time. It rolled right off her tongue.
